For those whose understanding of the world is derived from what their governments and political leaders tell them to believe, and from the mainstream media which regurgitates the government’s views and ideology, the world is left black and white, us vs. them, a simple myth to hold on to. For these people: the economic crisis is over and we are now in a “recovery”; the ‘War on Terror’ is an age-old battle between the forces of good and evil, retribution for the attacks of 9/11, and is designed to battle ‘terrorism’ in every corner of the world; the era of imperialism ended with World War II, and America is not an ‘empire’, but rather a bastion for freedom which spreads democracy around the world; the war against Libya was intended to save innocent lives out of ‘humanitarian’ concerns; we must accept the loss and restriction of our fundamental rights and liberties in order to protect us from terrorists; Barack Obama has brought ‘change’ and is a beacon of ‘hope’; and the death of Osama bin Laden shows that the ‘War on Terror’ is working, and is worthy of going out in the streets to celebrate and cheer!

The article appeared on http://www.prisonplanet.com For the leftist lap dogs that prevail in what we call the “news” media agenda is everything. Truth is what fits the agenda and if it doesn’t fit the agenda it’s not truth. It’s as simple as that.

Statistician John Williams (shadowstats.com) calls the government’s latest jobs and unemployment reports “nonsense numbers.”
There are a number of ongoing problems with the released numbers. For example, the concurrent-seasonal factor adjustments are unstable. The birth-death model adds non-existent jobs each month that are then taken out in the annual downward benchmark revisions.

Williams calculates that the job overstatement through November averages 45,000 monthly. In other words, employment gains during 2012 have been overstated by about 500,000 jobs. Another problem is that each month’s jobs number is boosted by downside revision of the previous month’s jobs number.

Since mid-2009 the US has been enjoying a virtual recovery courtesy of a rigged inflation measure that understates inflation. The financial Presstitutes spoon out the government’s propaganda that prices are rising less than 2%. But anyone who purchases food, fuel, medical care or anything else knows that low inflation is no more real that Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction or Gadhafi’s alleged attacks on Libyan protesters or Iran’s nuclear weapons. Everything is a lie to serve the power-brokers.
During the Clinton administration, Republican economists pushed through a change in the way the CPI is measured in order to save money by depriving Social Security retirees of their cost-of-living adjustment. Previously, the CPI measured the change in the cost of a constant standard of living. The new measure assumes that consumers adjust to price increases by lowering their standard of living by substituting lower quality, lower priced items. If the price, for example, of New York strip steak goes up, consumers are assumed to substitute the lower quality round steak. In other words, the new measure of inflation keeps inflation down by reflecting a lowered standard of living.

In response to the question in the title I can report that most of my readers are. Almost everyone got the point of the last column. They see the absurdity of the government’s claim that the identity of the tough, macho Navy Seals, who allegedly murdered Osama bin Laden, has to be kept secret in order to protect our fierce warriors from reprisals from Muslim terrorists, while those government officials responsible for the torture and deaths of large numbers of Muslims can walk around, identity known, unprotected and safe.

Some readers have come to the erroneous conclusion that the Matrix consists of Republican Party disinformation as if there is no disinformation from the left. Others think that propaganda is the business of Obama and the Democrats. In fact, propaganda from the right, the left and the middle are all part of the disinformation fed to americans.
If I may give some examples: The other day Chuck Colson, one of the Nixon officials imprisoned for Watergate crimes, died. This gave NPR the opportunity to relive the Nixon horror.
What precisely was the Nixon horror? Essentially, there was no such thing. Watergate was about President Nixon lying about when he learned about the Watergate burglary.
When Nixon learned about the burglary, he did not act on it prior to his reelection, because he reasoned, rightly, that the Washington Post would blame him for the burglary, although he had nothing to do with it, in the hopes of preventing his reelection.
Brewing a Conflict with China by Paul Craig Roberts
Washington has pressured the Philippines, whose government it owns, into conducting joint military exercises in the South China Sea. Washington’s excuse is that China has territorial disputes with the Philippines, Indonesia, and other countries concerning island and sea rights in the South China Sea.

Washington asserts that China’s territorial disputes with the like of Indonesia and the Philippines are a matter of United States’ national interests.
Washington has not made it clear what Washington’s stake is in the disputes. The reason Washington cannot identify why China’s disputes with the Philippines and Indonesia are threats to the United States is that there is no reason. Nevertheless, the undefined “threat” has become the reason Washington needs more naval bases in the Philippines and South Korea.
What this is all about is provoking a long-term cold war conflict with China that will keep
profits and power flowing into Washington’s military-security complex. Large profits flow to armaments companies. A portion of the profits reflow into campaign contributions to “the people’s representatives” in DC and to presidential candidates who openly sell out their country to private interests……….
Washington Leads World Into Lawlessness by Paul Craig Roberts
Washington violates the human rights of its own citizens. Washington has suspended the civil liberties guaranteed in the US Constitution and declared its intention to detain US citizens indefinitely without due process of law. President Obama has announced that he, at his discretion, can murder US citizens whom he regards as a threat to the US.

Congress did not respond to these extraordinary announcements with impeachment proceedings. There was no uproar from the federal courts, law schools, or bar associations. Glenn Greenwald reports that the Department of Homeland Security harasses journalists who refuse to be presstitutes, and we have seen videos of the brutal police oppression of peaceful OWS protestors. Chris Floyd describes the torture-perverts who rule the US.
Now Washington is forcing as much of the world as it can to overthrow international treaties and international law. Washington has issued a ukase that its word alone is international law. Any country, except those who receive Washington’s dispensation, that engages in trade with Iran or purchases Iran’s oil will be sanctioned by the US. These countries will be cut off from US markets, and their banking systems will not be able to use banks that process international payments. In other words, Washington’s “sanctions against Iran” apply not to Iran but to countries that defy Washington and meet their energy needs with Iranian oil.

In his book, The Rule of Empires (2010), Timothy H. Parsons replaces the myth of the civilizing empire with the truth of the extractive empire. He describes the successes of the Romans, the Umayyad Caliphate, the Spanish in Peru, Napoleon in Italy, and the British in India and Kenya in extracting resources. To lower the cost of governing Kenya, the British instigated tribal consciousness and invented tribal customs that worked to British advantage.
Parsons does not examine the American empire, but in his introduction to the book he wonders whether America’s empire is really an empire as the Americans don’t seem to get any extractive benefits from it. After eight years of war and attempted occupation of Iraq, all Washington has for its efforts is several trillion dollars of additional debt and no Iraqi oil. After ten years of trillion dollar struggle against the Taliban in Afghanistan, Washington has nothing to show for it except possibly some part of the drug trade that can be used to fund covert CIA operations.
America’s wars are very expensive. Bush and Obama have doubled the national debt, and the American people have no benefits from it. No riches, no bread and circuses flow to Americans from Washington’s wars. So what is it all about?

What lies ahead for America, the West, and humanity in the immediate future is pain, disease, suffering, and destruction. This is the greatest political crisis that the West has ever faced. Government leaders are walking on pins and needles, hoping to avoid a transnational political revolution against the international banks that defrauded American taxpayers and the taxpayers of other nations.
Financial and political analysts such as Gerald Celente, Paul Craig Roberts, Lew Rockwell, Max Keiser, Alex Jones, and many others predict that there will be vast political and social changes in the near future. Such sweeping changes will be the natural consequence of the 21st century intellectual revolution which has deconstructed totalitarian myths and narratives.
Most people realize that the global war on terror and global warming myths have been created for the purposes of mass manipulation and political control of the world. The rise of Ron Paul is a great American success story. Throughout his political and medical career, Dr. Paul has lived the philosophy of the dark horse. Ron Paul is clearly leaving the competition behind in the 2012 Republican presidential race. Dr. Paul has won the hearts and minds of the nation and of the world by the sheer force of his independent will and the integrity of his arguments. But the established system of fraud and war is resisting Ron Paul’s rise with: fraud and war.
The frightened GOP establishment and state-run mass media are using fraudulent means to contain the fire of freedom that Ron Paul has started, while picking an unnecessary fight with Iran to boost Obama’s weak leadership credentials during an election year.
On Wednesday, February 22, Infowars.com published one of the most important articles in this election season entitled, “Ron Paul Is Being Cheated Out of the Republican Nomination.” Paul Joseph Watson wrote:
“Despite his runaway success in terms of straw poll victories, campaign contributions and grass roots energy, a plethora of evidence strongly indicates that Ron Paul is being cheated out of winning any of the Republican caucuses, with the GOP establishment desperate to prevent the Texan Congressman from building any kind of momentum that the likes of Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum have been afforded.”
The Establishment’s conspiracy against Ron Paul is a conspiracy against the American voter and the American taxpayer. Only Ron Paul represents the interests of the American people and the American nation. Every other political leader in the 2012 presidential race, including Barack Obama, represents the interests of the cannibalistic American ruling class and international banking cartel.

So far, they have carried out the war from behind the scenes, in the shadows, inside the heart of government, while posing as America’s protectors. But that could change any day because the police state infrastructure that they have constructed in the last three decades in the guise of fighting terrorism and stopping the flow of drugs into America has given them the ability to wage their war against America out in the open.

FBI Plot to Blow Up Pentagon and Capitol with Model Planes
The homegrown terror narrative took a bizarre turn this week when the government arrested an American on charges he planned to blow up the Pentagon and the U.S. capitol with a model airplane.
Rezwan Ferdaus, a U.S. citizen from Ashland, Massachusetts, was duped into thinking a harmless substance provided by the FBI was C-4 plastic explosives. FBI agents also gave Ferdaus six AK-47 assault rifles and three grenades. None of the weapons worked.
Ferdaus bought a model airplane for $6,500 and kept it secreted away in a rented storage facility in Framingham, Massachusetts. The FBI gave their dupe the money to buy the toy. He had plans to buy other military-style model aircraft.
He also allegedly provided agents with cell phones rigged to act as electric switches for improvised explosive devices, intended to be used to kill U.S. soldiers.
“The person was never really a threat,” a nameless law enforcement official told CNN.
“There is no information to indicate he was connected to a foreign terrorist organization. It appears he was radicalized watching videos on the internet. He was given the opportunity to back down, but he never wavered” from his intention – thanks to FBI encouragement – to carry out the attacks, the unidentified source said.
Despite this, Ferdaus will be charged with attempting to provide material support and resources to al-Qaeda.
Ferdaus is another dupe in a long line of FBI patsies tricked into participating in absurd terror attacks cooked up by the federal government in order to propagandize a “homegrown” terror threat.
It does this because there is virtually no homegrown terror in the United States, even though the feds tell us there is and they hold hearings to scare us into supporting spending billions on Homeland Security and its tireless efforts to bring intrusive sexual molestation pat-downs to the local football stadium and mall.

Not long after the corporate media launched its predictable and lame homegrown terror mantra this week, civil liberties groups began complaining about FBI entrapment.
“It deeply concerns us. It is another in a pattern of high-profile cases. Would this person have conceived or executed this plot without the influence of the FBI?” asked Heidi Boghosian, president of the National Lawyers Guild.
“There is a big, big difference between a plot initiated by the FBI and a plot initiated by a suspect, and it seems this might have been initiated by the FBI,” said Ibrahim Hooper, director of communications for the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
The government’s affidavit against Ferdaus mentions a person identified simply as “CW” who had a criminal record and served time in prison. CW met Ferdaus in December 2010 and began recording his conversations. After CW made contact with Ferdaus, the FBI stepped in and began goading him into committing a terrorist attack. They gave him money to scout targets and provided him with disabled weapons.
It is a familiar pattern. The FBI dispatched a criminal to hunt down a mentally deranged Muslim and get him talking about the fantasy of jihad and al-Qaeda. Next the FBI dispatched agents who posed as terrorists and they gave the mentally impaired person disabled weapons and fake explosives. It is not a stretch to assume they also thought up the crackpot model airplane idea and planted it in Ferdaus’ mind.
“The US has a vast and very expensive Homeland Security bureaucracy with nothing to do. There hasn’t been a terrorist attack in America since 2001,” writes Paul Craig Roberts. “As very few, if any, real terrorists have turned up, the FBI has resorted to creating terrorists by soliciting Muslim-Americans and appealing to them with schemes to aid ‘jihadists’… Like the police who find it easier to frame people than to convict them on the evidence, the FBI will find it easier to manufacture ‘terrorists’ with entrapment than to catch real terrorists.”
The Ferdaus case is anther example of this. Since there is virtually no terror threat in America, the government has to create it in order to keep their bogus and wasteful war against manufactured terrorism alive.
How else are they going to get our consent to invade small defenseless countries and roll out their high-tech surveillance grid in the homeland?

What is the mainstream media NOT reporting?
In George Orwell‘s oft-quoted and insightful book 1984, we clearly see how this work of fiction has become reality, and in turn how reality is turned back into fiction through the manipulative, inaccurate and deceptive reporting of mainstream media. As Orwell accurately wrote:
“Day by day and almost minute by minute the past was brought up to date. In this way every prediction made by the Party could be shown by documentary evidence to have been correct; nor was any item of news, or any expression of opinion, which conflicted with the needs of the moment, ever allowed to remain on record. Indeed, this is the “reality” we face when we turn to mainstream news networks, a reality coloured and created through corporate interests which reflect their own agendas instead of the truth.
For example, political leaders and the mainstream media continue to explain to us that the reason for NATO‘s armed intervention in Libya is to bring freedom and democracy to the subjugated masses. However, as Global Research has been consistently pointing out through deep analysis and on-the-ground reporting, the concept of “humanitarian war” is a gross oxymoron. As Prof. Michel Chossudovsky wrote this week:
“The objective of the NATO bombings from the outset was to destroy the country’s standard of living, its health infrastructure, its schools and hospitals, its water distribution system. Readers can arrive at their own conclusions. It seems clear that under intense pressure and serious threats from the US government, the Pakistani government fell in line with the US government’s claim that a commando raid had killed bin Laden and all had returned safely, and that the TV news organization also got the message to get in line.
It is likely that the many witnesses who observed the dead from the helicopter crash have been warned to keep quiet. However, a news organization, should one be so inclined, could certainly interview Bashir and the 200 others who saw the dead bodies. A good reporter, perhaps accompanied by trained psychologists, would be able to tell if people were lying out of fear and encourage some to speak anonymously.

U.S. Imperialism Abroad Creating Police State At Home | Veterans Today
As America’s empire spreads abroad, it becomes ever more the police state at home. The methods used for the suppression of foreigners by military force and violence are eventually mirrored in the “homeland.”
In an article last September 25th titled “It Is Official: the US Is A Police State,” author Paul Craig Roberts, Assistant Treasury Secretary during the Reagan years, wrote, “’Violent extremism’ is one of those undefined police state terms that will mean whatever the government wants it to mean. In this morning’s FBI foray into the homes of American citizens of conscience it means antiwar activists, whose activities are equated with ‘the material support of terrorism’…”
The FBI raids at home are reminiscent of U.S. military raids overseas. In Iraq, for instance, labor union offices were raided and rifled and labor leaders imprisoned by the Occupation forces. Their “crime” was to oppose sweetheart contract deals with private oil firms.
The vast U.S. prison system, which houses 2.4 million Americans, may be compared with the Gulag the U.S. has built abroad. America today is the World’s Jailer. As Allan Uthman reported on AlterNet, in 2006 the Bush regime began building “detention centers” to warehouse inmates for unspecified “new programs” when the Army Corps of Engineers gave Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg Brown & Root nearly $400 million. What we do abroad, we do at home.
Adopting police state tactics on Americans the U.S. Empire first used on subjects abroad has a long history. When Filipinos rebelled against U.S. rule after their country was “liberated” from Spain, captured resistance fighters were subjected to water torture. Twenty years later, imprisoned American pacifists who opposed the Wilson administration’s entry into World War One were hung by their hands, and had running hoses shoved in their faces.

Whereas the police are required to respond to charges by questioning the accused, they are not supposed to make a public spectacle of him in order to create the impression that he is guilty before he is even charged. Yet DSK was arrested aboard an airliner as it was about to depart for France and portrayed by the police as a fleeing criminal. Photos were released of him in handcuffs and stripped of his business attire.
The judge refused bail to one of the West’s most high profile persons on the basis of the prosecutor’s statement that DSK would flee the country and hide out abroad. All of this quickly was passed to reporters, who obliged the prosecutors and police by portraying DSK as obviously guilty as he was apprehended fleeing from the country.
The police even planted the story that DSK was in such a hurry to flee that he left behind his cell phone and that that is how they found him. This was a ball-faced lie. The fact of the matter is that when DSK arrived at the airport, he discovered that he had left his cell phone and called the hotel, the scene of the alleged crime, to ask that it be retrieved and brought to him at the airport. When the police boarded his flight, he asked them, “Did you bring my cell phone.” He had no idea the police were there to detain him for questioning.
