INDIA pale ale (IPA) had a good claim to be the first global beer, before lager took a grip on the world’s tipplers.
Now IPA, an amber, hop-laden brew, high in alcohol, is regaining its global footprint. Britain’s territories on the Indian subcontinent were generally too hot for brewing. So a couple of hundred years ago, to keep army officers and officials of the East India Company away from the fearsome local firewater, beer was exported from Britain to take its place.

This design was significant in bringing radio to the general public. NBS followed that with a more selective two-circuit version, Construction and Operation of a Two-Circuit Radio Receiving Equipment With Crystal Detector, which was published the same year and is still frequently built by enthusiasts today.

Cops took no more than 10 seconds to fire six or seven shots into the body of dying teenager Andy Lopez after seeing him with a toy pellet gun. Mr Lopez was spotted by deputies on Tuesday afternoon in Santa Rosa, California, carrying the toy rifle, which they mistakenly thought was a real assault weapon.
The time that elapsed between when officers reported the sighting to dispatch and then reported shots fired was only 10 seconds. Hundreds of local residents marched on Wednesday night to remember the popular teen and protest at the senseless shooting.

Each incremental increase in temperature is too small to be noticed until it\’s too late, and the frog is cooked to death. My sense of the Tea Party reaction on the right is that the recession, the bailouts, and above all ObamaCare simply turned up the heat too quickly. The frog suddenly realized it was being boiled and jumped out of the pot.

A whole lot, actually.
The television series Breaking Bad comes to an end this Sunday night on AMC with a 75-minute finale. If you did not know that—hello, alien. And maybe stop reading. Everyone is dying, and everything is most definitely terrible. Except the show itself, which is great and fun and a wonderful kind of terrible. It\’s also a piece of American art, which is an obnoxious way to describe it, but probably the correct way. Like any worthwhile piece of culture, Breaking Bad says something about the time it\’s being consumed in. For that, it\’s a thing to be studied—and it\’s a thing that\’s being studied.

“The American people are being bamboozled into believing that you have to keep spending for ever,” Ron Paul exclaims, as “neither side is truly looking for spending cuts.” As he explains they all know that increasing spending is all that can maintain the status quo. In this brief CNBC clip, Paul says playing the blame game is ignorant of the reality that both sides are “rigid with bad ideas,” dismissing Obama’s ‘faction’ comments. For a glimpse at the chaos underlying the status quo (that is being exposed this week), Paul blasts that “it is a philosophy of government that is to blame; Keynesianism, Militarism, and Interventionism, and the funny-money system that we use. All that has come together and the country is bankrupt and nobody wants to amid it.”

…snip… The takers outnumber the givers, and that will only increase in years to come. The “Occupy” riots across this country in the last two years were mere dress rehearsals for what lies ahead – years of unrest sparked by the increasing discontent of the unsuccessful who want to seize the fruits and the bounty of the successful, and do not appreciate the slow pace of redistribution. If this election proves one thing, it is that the Old America is gone. And, sad for the world, it is not coming back.

A litany of so-called fair housing laws prevents landlords from denying tenancy to anyone based on age, gender, sexual orientation, race, or a host of other criteria. The management of one Castle Rock, Colo. apartment complex, however,
has issued an ultimatum to its resident gun owners. According to reports, renters who continue to exercise their Second Amendment rights as of Oct. 1 will be forced to find alternate housing.
Art Dorsch said. “They say I can’t live here.”While landlords should be able to use discretion in allowing individuals to rent their units, it is unconscionable that law-abiding tenants already living in the complex be displaced entirely because they own a firearm. Dorsch and others in his position are being forced to make the unenviable choice of protecting their lives and possessions or continuing to live in their current homes. For 77-year-old Dorsch, it is a decision he shouldn’t be forced to make.“It upsets me very much,” he said.According to Scott Robinson, an analyst commenting on the issue, property managers are usually allowed a certain amount of leeway in implementing rules by which residents must abide.“

A pair of local video producers have made a 15-minute documentary about the San Francisco beer movement. Craft Beer: A Hopumentary profiles the rise of local brews through the lens of local spots like Lagunitas, City Beer Store, Zeitgeist, and Southern Pacific Brewing. In it, the filmmakers explore the rise of craft brewing since the early 1980s, when there were 100 breweries in the U.S. — in 2012 there were more than 2,300, and the number is growing. It seems like this might be a hot topic for some people so that they can get enough ammunition for target practice, etc.

The Great DHS Ammunition Stockpile Myth
Breibart – Big Government ^ | 4-4-2013 | Tom Stilson

There are dozens of articles hyping government purchases of ammunition over the last nine months. After spending weeks researching this topic, this is a collection of commonly held myths that are based more on panic than fact.
With the recent release of a letter from the Department of Homeland Security to Senator Coburn, the numbers we calculated independently seem to corroborate the narrative coming from DHS. The concerns surrounding DHS stockpiling ammunition are nothing but more fear-mongering and largely unwarranted. For once, here are the facts to set the record straight:
MYTH: DHS purchased 750 million rounds of several different types of ammunition in August 2012.
FACT: The DHS contract never stated 750 million rounds at any time. It is a five year contract with a maximum purchase of 70 million rounds over the life of the contract. Military Times recently addressed this issue as well.

NEWTOWN, Conn –(Ammoland.com)- The latest Internet rumor has George Soros owning “most of the ammunition manufacturing companies and many arms manufacturers as well.”
It goes on to suggest that Soros and his few remaining competitors are selling new production only to the government, while the civilian market has been relegated to a fast-disappearing stock of old ammunition.
If you’re like me, you check the ammunition shelves in every retailer you visit, and we all have felt the sinking feeling of seeing nothing but empty shelves. The trend is especially acute at the “Big Box” stores where speculators check every day to see if new shipments have arrived overnight.
The gaps in the current ammunition supply are frustrating — but they are not a conspiracy.

A staple of American self-esteem is that we Yanks are brave, free, independent, self-reliant, ruggedly individual, and disinclined to accept abuse from anyone. This was largely true in, say, 1930. People lived, a great many of them, on farms where they planted their own crops, built their own barns, repaired their own trucks, and protected their own property. They were literate but not educated, knew little of the world beyond the local, but in their homes and fields they were supreme.
If they wanted to swim buck nekkid in the creek, they swam buck nekkid. If whistle pigs were eating the corn, the family teenager would get his rifle and solve the problem. Government left them alone.
