As I’ve listened to and participated in conversations on “after death, what?” with students and family in various areas in the Church, I’ve nearly always found people expressed two feelings: a great desire to know about the post-earthly spirit world (hereafter referred to as the spirit world), and an apologetic feeling for having questions, feeling as though the spirit world were a subject that we should not discuss.

My feeling is that caution in discussing a sacred subject is always proper, especially when much popular “information” in contemporary society about the spirit world involves sensational ghost stories, devil worship, and other problem areas. However, the desire to know is, in itself, a good one. Our beloved relatives who have passed on inhabit that world, and we will soon join them there. It is a healthy, holy subject and should be discussed in that attitude.

Furthermore, the Prophet Joseph Smith declared that the Saints should study the purpose of life and death, in fact should study it “more than any other” subject—“study it day and night.” He observed that “if we have any claim on our Heavenly Father for anything, it is for knowledge on this important subject.” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 324; italics added.)

We have a right, then, to understand the true nature of our existence. We also have a responsibility to search it out, for the more aware we become that the spirit world is a real extension of our mortal existence, the less likely we are to fasten our hearts on the treasures of this world.

One of the most beautiful stories in our heritage, an experience of President Heber J. Grant’s, bears witness that a testimony about the right relationship between life, death, and the spirit world can comfort us in times of sorrow, help us understand God’s purposes, and teach us the true nature of our existence. President Grant writes:

“I have been blessed with only two sons. One of them died at five years of age and the other at seven. My last son died of a hip disease. I had built great hopes that he would live to spread the Gospel at home and abroad and be an honor to me. About an hour before he died I had a dream that his mother, who was dead, came for him, and that she brought with her a messenger, and she told his messenger to take the boy while I was asleep; and in the dream I thought I awoke and I seized my son and fought for him and finally succeeded in getting him away from the messenger who had come to take him, and in so doing I dreamed that I stumbled and fell upon him.

“I dreamed that I fell upon his sore hip, and the terrible cries and anguish of the child drove me nearly wild. I could not stand it and I jumped up and ran out of the house so as not to hear his distress. I dreamed that after running out of the house I met Brother Joseph E. Taylor and told him of these things.

“He said: ‘Heber, do you know what I would do if my wife came for one of her children—I would not struggle to keep that child; I would not oppose her taking that child away. If a mother who had been faithful had passed beyond the veil, she would know of the suffering and the anguish her child may have to suffer; she would know whether that child might go through life as a cripple and whether it would be better or wiser for that child to be relieved from the torture of life; and when you stop to think, Brother Grant, that the mother of that boy went down into the shadow of death to give him life, she is the one who ought to have the right to take him or keep him.’

“I said, ‘I believe you are right, Brother Taylor, and if she comes again, she shall have the boy without any protest on my part.’

Diabolical experiments to prompt Jesus’ return?

Diabolical experiments to prompt Jesus’ return?:

Is mankind’s quest for knowledge, power and longer life about to backfire and wipe human beings off the face of the Earth?

Secret experiments some may consider diabolical now underway in the U.S. and elsewhere are sparking fears of a potential extinction-level event.

For decades now, there have been science-fiction stories portraying a future filled with spectacular abilities for people, where the definition of what makes someone a human being is blurred by blending high technology and even animal traits into the human body.

The Coming Prince (Dispensational Caucus)

Ever since Sir Robert Anderson published his seminal work, The Coming Prince at the turn of the 20th century, prophecy watchers have been trying to figure out who he is. Sir Robert took his title from Daniel 9:26’s identification of the antichrist as a prince of the Roman Empire:

“And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.”

Of all the prophetic clues to the identification of the antichrist, this seems to me to be the most unassailable. There have been only two ‘peoples’ whom history records destroying both the city of Jerusalem and the sanctuary of the Temple.

The Correct Definition of “Armageddon”
http://www.theignorantfishermen.com/2011/08/correct-definition-of-armageddon.html ^ | 8/10/11

As of late, all we have been hearing from the hyper leftist propaganda news media – is that, “America is in a fiscal “Armageddon”. The media and ‘Marxist” Washington D.C. has been pushing crisis after crisis in their never ending evil designs to seize more and more power and control over our Republic form of democracy. The word “Armageddon” – which has been used continually by these fear mongers,- has been used by many in many different ways and in many different contexts to describe a situation of gloom or pending catastrophe, but sadly when this word (Armageddon) is used it is ALWAYS taken out of its original biblical context, thus clouding and distorting the seriousness of its meaning and watering down its horrific sobering realities of the godless world’s FINAL global battle against Almighty God (Rev. 16:13-16).

“but sadly when this word is used it is ALWAYS taken out of its original biblical context, thus clouding and distorting the seriousness of its meaning and watering down its horrific sobering realities of the godless world’s “Final Global Battle” against Almighty God”

As far back as the pre-flood world, Almighty God has spoken of a Day when He would judge the world for their lawless and rebellious violations against the ETERNAL (spiritual and natural) absolutes of Almighty God(Jude 1:14-15). Mankind – who lives in his fallen darkened subjective world – has rejected the ETERNAL sovereignty of Almighty God – his Creator – and has been at continual war against Him since Adam’s fall (Gen.3, Rom. 1:18-32; 3, 5:12-21).

As mankind has spread out into all four corners of the earth since the judgment at the Tower of Babel, he has ONLY increasingly manifested and blossomed into the godless, lawless and violent individual that has ravished him since his fall (Gen 8:21, Rom. 1:18-32 ; 3). 6000 years of human history has overwhelmingly and exponentially demonstrated to all without any shadow of a doubt mankind’s absolute bankrupt condition when pertaining to the ETERNAL RIGHTEOUS ABSOLUTES of Almighty God. As time has marched on (6000 years), we have only seen the world entrench themselves continually deeper into the spiritual abyss of fathomless darkness, totally self absorbed and totally bankrupt (John 3:19-21, Eph. 2:1-3, Rev. 17:1-2). It has been in these last 100 years – out of the 4200 years since Babel – in which we have seen mankind with all of its EXPONENTIAL technological advances, EXPONENTIALLY express themselves as a horrific violent mushroom cloud on the horizon of mankind. This ravishing of the world’s societies, cultures and inhabitants of planet earth has reached new EXPONENTIAL cruelties, barbarianism and global blood baths with its genocidal madness destroying countless millions.

“With the incredible new HYPER – EXPONENTIAL technological advances of our day expect mankind to out do themselves as they continue to express their violent and lawless tendencies to all new levels of catastrophic barbarity and godlessness”

There has NEVER been a century of death, violence, famine, genocide, barbarity, anti Almighty God, anti Semitism and anti Christian until we reached the 20th century. With the incredible new HYPER – EXPONENTIAL technological advances of our day expect mankind to out do themselves as they continue to express their violent and lawless tendencies to all new levels of EXPONENTIAL catastrophic barbarity and godlessness (Matt. 24:10-12; 2 Tim. 3:1-7; Rev. 6-16). My friend, that is exactly where we are heading as a world and what the seven tribulation period (Daniels’s 70th week) will EXPONENTIALLY manifest and demonstrate (Matt 24; 2 Thess. 2:3-12; Rev. 6-16). It will be – at this time – that the final rebellious expression of mankind’s hatred against Almighty God their Creator and His ETERNAL sovereignty will fully be manifested to its zenith! Even with the overwhelming SUPER NATURAL signs and wonders of Almighty God’s Two Lamp Stands (Moses and Elijah), nothing will hinder and stop the wrath of fallen mankind and their demonic masters to do FINAL battle against Almighty God’s program for the ages found in the nation of Israel (Zech. 12:3-4, Rom. 9-11) at the battle of Armageddon. My friend, ALL is heading to Armageddon!

“It will be during these seven years of tribulation that mankind will reach the rebellion zenith against their Creator under the demonic influence of Lucifer and his released fallen hosts”

Armageddon – as the Bible (Almighty God’s Word) – clearly defines, is the FINAL accumulated manifestation of the godless rebellious heart of mankind through out the centuries (4200 years since Babel rebellion) expressed at its pinnacle and zenith (Rev. 16; 13-16). It will be during these seven years of horrific tribulation that mankind will reach the rebellious zenith against their Creator under the demonic influence of Lucifer and his released fallen hosts (Rev. 9, 16:13-16, 18:2). The horrific and catastrophic transgressions of mankind at this time will be achieved by these global delusional maniacs in light of the full revelation of Almighty God’s grace, mercy, evangelical outreach, signs, wonders and angelic proclamations – Rev. 6-16. So GREAT will their subjective and vindictive rage and hatred be against Almighty God that these will stop at nothing to reach their final conflict! Is it not funny how all of those who throw around the “Armageddon” word NEVER state this reality. How can they! Sadly, it is most likely that the over whelming majority of these reprobates would march to Armageddon themselves if the battle were today!

May you harden not your hearts and understand what Almighty God’s ETERNAL LOVE is for you. As this Day approaches, may you be sure that you personally know the Lord Jesus Christ as you PERSONAL Savior (John 1:12, 3:16-17, Acts 16:29-31)! You will NEVER be the same!!

The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!

Basic Apologetics: “I think all paths lead to God.”

July 7, 2011 Leave a comment

William Cwirla (LCMS): When people say things like that, I always like to ask, “On what basis do you think that? What evidence can you put forward that this statement is true?”

It is true that all religious paths, save one, lead to the same place, but that place isn’t God. All religions, save one, hold that you must work your way to God, whether by your creeds, your conduct, or your worship. This is essentially the religion of the Law, something that all religions, save one, have in common.

The statement presupposes that we are on a search for God, much like a hiking trip through the mountains, and whether we take the high road or the low, we will all ultimately wind up in the same place. Buddhism essentially works this way, and even a surprising number of Christians have been caught up into believing this notion that all paths lead to God as long as you sincerely follow your chosen path.

The path is not ours to define but God’s. Jesus pointed out that the way to destruction is broad, and no one has trouble finding that road, while the way to life is exceedingly narrow, and those who find it are few (Matt. 7:13-14). Christianity is the only religion that is really a non-religion, in the sense that we don’t work to God but God comes all the way to us. “But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with him, and made us sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Eph. 2:4-6). God in Christ does it all.

The narrow door Jesus was speaking of is the narrow door of his own death. We would not seek this door on our own, much less find it. Who in their right minds would construct a religion out of an all-sufficient, all-atoning sacrificial death of the Son of God in which the sinner is justified before God? To the wisdom of the world, this is utter nonsense, not to mention bad for morality in general. That’s why from start to finish, God must do the work of salvation for us. We would not have it this way on our own.

As with everything else in Christianity, it all hangs on the death and resurrection of Jesus. While it is theoretically possible that there are other ways for a sinner to stand justified before God, God has not revealed any. Instead, he sent his only begotten Son who claimed to be the only way to the Father (John 14:6). On its own, that might be an outrageous example of hubris on the part of Jesus. But then, he’s the only One who died and rose bodily from the dead. We’re going to have to take his word on that one.

Jason Stellman (PCA): Well, in a certain sense it is true that all paths lead to God. The Bible teaches that all people, great and small, rich and poor, will stand before their Maker. The problem isn’t getting to God, it’s being accepted by him.

Many today feel that God will happily receive all who stand before him with a smile and a warm hug (R. C. Sproul jokingly calls this view “Justification by Death”). But if we take a few moments to consider who this God is, it becomes necessary to reevaluate our position and question our confidence.

Let’s use the realm of civic justice as an illustration. Suppose there were a judge in a certain town who was known for being an accepting, gregarious fellow in private, and his magnanimous personality spilled over into his work. So when thieves, murderers, and kidnappers stand before him, he just can’t help but love them and let them off with a small slap on the wrist. If this were to happen over and over, the town would rise up and demand justice, wouldn’t they? And rightly so. We all have an inherent sense of right and wrong (which really flares up when we’re the ones wronged!) which tells us that criminals should be punished.

But whatever sense of justice and fairness we share as humans beings is there because we have been made in God’s image. If we think evil should be punished, how much more true is this when we consider God and his standards, his holiness, and his judgment? God is infinitely more pure, just, and offended at sin than we, and therefore his very nature demands that sinners be punished for their actions.

The good news, of course, is that God is also infinitely more gracious and merciful than we, and for this reason he has sent his Son into the world to walk in our shoes, live the life we have failed to live, and die the death that our sins demand. So though it is true that “all paths lead to God,” it is also true that only one of those paths leads to forgiveness and blessing. All others lead to eternal destruction.

People either believe in intelligent design or they believe we are the result of a massive cosmic coincidence. If there is intelligent design then you either believe we have the power to make choices or you think we have no freewill and we are merely puppets playing out a three dimensional video choreographed by some supreme being for his pleasure. If you believe we have freewill you either believe God granted you the right to choose or you believe you are god and you can just make it up as you go along. Since I believe in the former in all three hypotheses those who don’t probably can go do something else.

Okay, for those of you who are still reading, you are a product of intelligent design, with some sort of freewill power to make choices, you have a mutual and individual charge in the operation and maintenance of an entire planet and are told to dress it and keep it by your Creator.

Cool!

“What do you want to do?”

Ah! There is the problem. Every one seems to come up with a different idea of what we should do. It is all a part of the Tree of the Knowledge of good and evil. Everyone has their own idea and wants to choose for themselves what is good and what is evil, what is right or wrong, just or fair.

Similarities Between Islam and Communism

February 25, 2011 Leave a comment

When many people think of Islam they tend to believe that which they have been told endlessly by politicians, journalists, academics, and other sources of presumed authority that Islam is simply a religion .

If I was pressed to define Islam in terms that many in the West are far more familiar with, I would equate it with Communism with the difference being instead of the superiority of the State, the Laws of the State, and the Party Leaders being the final authority in Communism, Islam replaces the State with Allah, the State Laws with the Koran and the Hadith, and the Party Leaders with the Imams.Further investigation leads to numerous other similarities. In Communism one is expected to fully surrender themselves to the dictates of the State while Islam demands on surrendering themselves to Allah and the defined laws attributed to Allah by Muhammad.

Communism grants to the Party Leaders the power to define the desires and rules of the State while Islam gives the power to issue religious edicts known a Fatwas to the Imams. In addition, the Imams also have the power to choose which verses of the Koran, as many are contradictory, the faithful must follow and also interpret the Hadiths and define the actions attributed to Muhammad which are to be imitated by true followers of Islam.

The Bible Reveals WE CAN KNOW May 21, 2011 is Judgment Day!

February 15, 2011 2 comments

The horrible truth is that the Lord Himself has abandoned the churches of the world. The Bible teaches us that the church age is over it ended in 1988 A.D.. The Lord has left the churches in spiritual darkness.

They cannot see the awful truth that we are now at the very end of the world. The Lord vividly describes the spiritual leaders of the churches today in Isaiah:Isaiah 56:10-11 His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark…they are shepherds that cannot understand…

God Himself indicates that many who profess to be His people will not see the warning signs of the coming end.

The Lord uses Old Testament Israel/Judah as types and figures of the New Testament churches and congregations…………………

Romans 12 & Christ’s Clergy Response Teams…

by Brother Gregory Williams

NewsWithViews.com

Pastors across the country have been called on by the Department of Homeland Security to join “Clergy Response Teams” in order to placate and control the people of America in the event of local or national emergencies. Jeff Ferrell, a reporter for KSLA in Shreveport, claimed that “For the clergy team, one of the biggest tools that they will have in helping calm the public down or to obey the law is the bible itself, specifically Romans 13.” This idea was affirmed in the report by Dr. Durell Turberville who was quoted as saying, “because the government is established by the Lord, you know. And, that’s what we believe in the Christian faith. That’s what’s stated in the scripture.”
