The most important battle in politics today is the one within the Republican Party, and the tea party movement didn’t start it. The GOP’s civil war began in 1912 when Teddy Roosevelt made progressivism the governing philosophy of the Republican establishment.

No one should ever question President Obama’s passion for golf. He has played some of the country’s most picturesque courses, held a debt-limit “golf summit” with Speaker John A. Boehner, taken on Tiger Woods and found time to steal away for a round in political good times and bad.

I BELONG TO THE STUPID PARTY

I belong to the stupid party.

I’m a Republican.

We specialize in self-destruction.

The latest example is the recent decision by the Republican National Committee to ban CNN and NBC from covering any debates during the next GOP presidential primaries.

Somehow, in head-up-your-butt land, that makes sense. But out here, in the real world, it’s insane.

And petty, and one more sign that the people running this party are, in scientific terms, frigging idiots.

Here’s the story.

Apparently there is this she-devil named Hillary Clinton who wants to run for president. She’s the one who said we didn’t need more security in Benghazi. She’s the secretary of State who oversaw the greatest reversals of American influence abroad in modern history.

The Rogue Helping Obama Steal America… “The deadly, almost under-cover assassin of conservatism in America is not the Fundamental Transformation of America-pushing Barack Obama and the Democrats but Karl Rove and his big-money financiers.”

The deadly, almost under-cover assassin of conservatism in America is not the Fundamental Transformation of America-pushing Barack Obama and the Democrats but Karl Rove and his big-money financiers.

Conservatism is the dead man walking in the politics of America today, and there’s no way to revive the corpse as long as Karl Rove is still at the GOP helm.

From the Truth-is-stranger-than-Fiction department: A brilliant May 8 piece in the New York Times by Thomas B. Edsall draws back the curtain on the forces battling for GOP control between the well-heeled establishment and passionately conservative forces, and it’s less than a pretty picture.

It’s the movie of our lifetime depicting what is happening in the underskirts of the body politic in a declining America.

But the May 1 revelation by the Republican National Committee that it had awarded a multimillion-dollar contract for data management and collection services to Liberty Works, a firm run by Richard Boyce, an associate of Rove, could inadvertently lead to the way out of the labyrinth that is steadily undermining the Republican Party faithful, and therefore some day stop disenfranchising millions of conservative voters.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — In the GOP’s ongoing establishment vs. grassroots saga, chalk one up for the establishment.

Since Mitt Romney’s loss, the Rand Paul wing of the party has been on the ascendency. But libertarians hit a roadblock Friday as the Republican National Committee opted at its spring meeting to keep in place a host of rules rammed through by the Romney campaign at last year’s national convention.

Pat Caddell, the Fox News Contributor and Democrat pollster who engineered Jimmy Carter’s 1976 Presidential victory, blew the lid off CPAC on Wednesday with a blistering attack on “racketeering” Republican consultants who play wealthy donors like “marks.”

“I blame the donors who allow themselves to be played for marks. I blame the people in the grassroots for allowing themselves to be played for suckers…

Devvy Kidd — How the GOP committed political suicide in 1982

February 3, 2013 1 comment

“In 1982, the Republican National Committee (“RNC”) and the Democratic National Committee (“DNC”) entered into a consent decree (the “Decree” or “Consent Decree”), which is national in scope, limiting the RNC’s ability to engage or assist in voter fraud prevention unless the RNC obtains the court’s approval in advance.

The RNC appeals from a judgment of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey denying, in part, the RNC’s Motion to Vacate or Modify the Consent Decree. Although the District Court declined to vacate the Decree, it did make modifications to the Decree. The RNC argues that the District Court abused its discretion by modifying the Decree as it did and by declining to vacate the Decree. For the following reasons, we will affirm the District Court’s judgment.
