Pat Caddell, the Fox News Contributor and Democrat pollster who engineered Jimmy Carter’s 1976 Presidential victory, blew the lid off CPAC on Wednesday with a blistering attack on “racketeering” Republican consultants who play wealthy donors like “marks.”

Devvy Kidd — How the GOP committed political suicide in 1982
“In 1982, the Republican National Committee (“RNC”) and the Democratic National Committee (“DNC”) entered into a consent decree (the “Decree” or “Consent Decree”), which is national in scope, limiting the RNC’s ability to engage or assist in voter fraud prevention unless the RNC obtains the court’s approval in advance.
The RNC appeals from a judgment of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey denying, in part, the RNC’s Motion to Vacate or Modify the Consent Decree. Although the District Court declined to vacate the Decree, it did make modifications to the Decree. The RNC argues that the District Court abused its discretion by modifying the Decree as it did and by declining to vacate the Decree. For the following reasons, we will affirm the District Court’s judgment.

Amazing, Romney still battles Ron Paul in New Jersey
October 19, 2012
The battle for the soul of the Republican Party is still ongoing. If you doubt that, take a look at the Romney henchman in New Jersey, who is even now, doing everything within his power to resist the involvement of grass roots Ron Paul people.

What you saw in Tampa, where Ron Paul delegates, mostly young and war veterans and Hispanics were unseated, continues in other ways, unabated in state after state, county after county.
Governor Mitt Romney is conducting a war on two fronts. On the one hand he is trying to wrest control of the White House from the Democrats in a close election. But simultaneously, as distracting and draining as it may be, he continues the brutal scrub of any challenge to the American oligarchical system by destroying the last vestiges of democracy within his own Republican Party.

New evidence is coming out about just how tough and dirty the Mitt Romney campaign fought to block the Ron Paul takeover of the Republican Party at the State Conventions last summer.
This was not greedy state and country chairmen wanting to hang onto power so they could go to the RNC as delegates and get drunk.

Now we have a political party, ready to nominate a candidate who claims he is a church-man, whose henchmen trample American democracy by excluding nomination of a candidate at the Republican Party meeting in Florida by a last-minute rule change. NY Times Outraged Republicans Didn’t Pander To Gays During RNC…
WHAT the Republicans painstakingly constructed here was meant to look like the biggest of tents. And still they couldn’t spare so much as a sleeping bag’s worth of space for the likes of me.
Women were welcomed. During the prime evening television hours, the convention stage was festooned with them, and when they weren’t at the microphone, they were front and center in men’s remarks. Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney both gushed about their moms in tributes as tactical as they were teary.
Latinos were plentiful and flexed their Spanish — “En América, todo es posible,” said Susana Martinez, the New Mexico governor — despite an “English First” plank in the party’s regressive platform.
And while one preconvention poll suggested that roughly zero percent of African-Americans support Romney, Republicans found several prominent black leaders to testify for him. Condoleezza Rice, the former secretary of state, delivered what will surely be remembered as the convention’s most stirring and substantive remarks, purged of catcalls and devoid of slickly rendered fibs.

GOP Destroys Integrity of National Convention, Flagrantly Cheats Ron Paul Out of Nomination
I am so frustrated and angry with the blatant cheating that went on at the Republican National Convention in Tampa today.
I am ashamed of my national party’s actions. I sat openmouthed, flabbergasted, appalled at the actions that they took to shut the liberty folks out.
Look…maybe Ron Paul had no chance to win. Romney had more delegates though some of those were seated by deception and coercion. That is not the point now. Do we, as Republicans, have so little respect for others that it is okay to cheat a 30 year Republican Congressman out of a legitimate nomination that he earned? By following the rules, no less?Is it also okay that we completely ignore the will of the elected delegates who have achieved plurality and submitted nomination papers?
Those papers were delivered to Preibus by Iowa’s Lieutenant Governor, Kim Reynolds, the Convention Secretary, over an hour before the call for nomination, the rolling roll call. She claims that it was her job to accept and deliver them, and that anything after that was the will of the Republican National Committee. Therefore, the will of the RNC was to cheat Ron Paul out of a legitimate nomination and to break their own rules.Ron Paul needed a plurality of five states to have his name submitted for nomination. He received six. Those papers were submitted in a timely
manner and ignored.

Ron Paul’s GOP Battle Reveals Some Truths About Political Parties by Ryan McMaken

When things didn’t go the way the pro-Romney leadership wanted them to go, they simply created a new GOP to replace the old one. That’s what happened in Nevada when Ron Paul supporters managed to gain control of the state’s Republican Party apparatus at the state convention.
In response, the pro-Romney and establishment Republican forces broke off and formed Team Nevada which is essentially a shadow Republican party. In addition, by pledging support to Romney, Team Nevada is receiving funding from the Republican National Committee. If all goes as planned on the Romney side, Team Nevada will provide Nevada’s delegates to the Republican National Convention. The duly-elected Ron Paul delegates, who were elected through state and local conventions in Nevada, will be barred from the convention floor.

Iowa Republicans have a total of 28 delegates to this year’s national convention in Tampa, Florida. Two delegate selection committee members from each of the state’s four congressional districts met at the Republican headquarters in Des Moines today to draft the slate of 13 at-large delegates that must be ratified by convention delegates at the state convention on June 15th.
Each state is awarded delegates based on a number of factors. Each state starts with ten delegates, five for each U.S. Senator. States are then awarded three delegates for every congressional district. The three members of the Republican National Committee, including the State Chairman, National Committeewoman, and the National Committeeman, also each receive a delegate spot. That means the base number for national delegates for Iowa is 25.

In a stunning move, the Republican National Committee has warned that it may refuse to allow the entire delegation for Nevada to be seated at the national convention for fear that Ron Paul supporters have taken control of the state.
Officials are petrified that Paul’s army of supporters are in position to take up more delegate slots than Mitt Romney supporters. While Romney is thought to have won 20 of the 28 slots available in Nevada, officials fear that the delegates that take them will ignore party rules by voting for Paul over Romney during the first round of balloting.

Rule does not mean Paul cannot be part of the convention, or win in a brokered situationGOP Insiders Suggest Ron Paul Cannot Legally Be Part Of RNC Ballot
GOP insiders are beginning to float the idea that Congressman Ron Paul cannot legally be on the first ballot at the national convention in Tampa this August because he will not have enough delegates from enough states.
USA Today carries a report that suggests both Paul and Newt Gingrich will not be able to get on the first ballot because they may not have a plurality of delegates from at least five states by the time the convention comes around.
Appearing on MSNBC News, Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee, cited Rule No. 40, Section B in the Republican National Committee rulebook, which states:
Each candidate for nomination for President of the United States and Vice President of the United States shall demonstrate the support of a plurality of the delegates from each of five (5) or more states, severally, prior to the presentation of the name of the candidate for nomination.
“So when these candidates are adding up their delegates or when people out there have a particular issue that they would like to move at the convention, they had better make sure they at least have a plurality of five states to make these things happen,” Priebus said on MSNBC’s Daily Rundown.
A d v e r t i s e m e n t
Of course, Ron Paul’s strategy is to win more unbound delegates, and it is still possible that he could win a plurality of delegates from five states.
Paul campaign chairman Jesse Benton has said that the campaign anticipates meeting the five-state threshold, saying in an email that “we are well positioned to carry WA, MN, AK, ND and ME among several others.”
It is also important to note that the rule does not mean that Paul’s delegates will not be able to take part in the convention.

Ron Paul finished fifth in the New Hampshire presidential primary with just under 8 percent of the vote.On Tuesday, he got nearly 23 percent of the vote in the New Hampshire primary, finishing second to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in the Republican contest. That came a week after Paul’s third-place finish in the Iowa caucuses.Paul has done better than any Republican presidential contender not named Romney, and his success is part of the buzz at the Republican National Committee’s winter meeting in New Orleans, which runs through Saturday. Some are surprised by his showing. Some are happy about his success. And some are worried that Paul’s allure — he’s attracting support from outside the Republican Party by advocating everything from legalizing marijuana to immediately withdrawing U.S. forces from Afghanistan — could influence him to eventually consider a third-party bid for the White House.Excerpt Read more at npr.org …
Earthquake? Governor Palin Changes Facebook Status From ‘Republican’ to ‘Conservative’
Ok guys … Is this just a minor thing? Or a big deal? I’ll let you speculate on what it means ….
Here’s the news reported by the Sarah Palin Blog:
I was walking through the grocery store earlier today when I received a text message from a close friend asking me if I had taken note of the change on Sarah Palin’s Facebook page. I confessed that it had been an exceptionally busy day and that I had not looked at Palin’s page today. My friend then brought to my attention that under the “Info” link, Palin’s political views have been changed from “Republican” to “Conservative”. For a brief moment, it didn’t phase me as I am also a registered Republican but I chose to list “Conservative” on my Facebook page as my own political view because in my eyes, it more aptly describes my values.
I suppose one could draw a multitude of conclusions regarding this status change. I know that I certainly have. You can be certain that any move Sarah Palin makes has been well thought out and is with purpose. Could she possibly be sending a message to the RNC that they need to strengthen the conservative planks of the Republican party? Perhaps her promise of “sudden and relentless reform” as addressed in her Indianola speech and more recently in her October 7th St. Louis speech is a sign that as in the past, neither party is safe from her scrunity.
One thing is for sure, time will tell.
