Obama’s financial spy plan moves US towards Orwellian police state | EUTimes.net
The Obama administration’s financial spying plan, which if enacted will grant spy agencies access to US citizens’ finance data, is a shocking attack on personal freedom, independent journalist Charlie McGrath has told RT.
The planning document recently obtained by Reuters, dated March 4, showed that the legislation is primarily aimed at targeting and tracking terrorist cells, exposing money-laundering schemes, tracing criminal syndicates and curbing corruption. However, though the plan is still in its early stages, it has sparked mass outrage with many calling it a cover for wide-ranging surveillance net desired by the US government.
“Sold as an effort to stop international terror groups, the proposed measure pushes us ever closer to a complete Orwellian Police State where you are guilty without cause, evidence, or even accusation,” McGrath, founder of Wide Awake News told RT.McGrath said the proposed law is in line with legislation like the NDAA and PATRIOT Act, what he called an “ongoing assault on liberty that has been implemented since 911.”
“The future of freedom seems quite clear,” McGrath concluded. At the same time, experts are skeptical that the legislation would result in a significant increase in arrests of terrorist. “But more citizens could end up being caught up in the financial crosshairs,” Margaret Bogenrief, a founding partner of ACM Partners financial advisory firm told RT.

With the 2012 Doomsday date quickly approaching, anxiety and fear are gripping more and more people across the globe. According to a recent survey of individuals in over twenty countries, 15% of people worldwide believe the end of the world as we know it will happen in our lifetime.
“Whether they think it will come to an end through the hands of God, or a natural disaster or a political event, whatever the reason, one in seven thinks the end of the world is coming,” said Keren Gottfried, research manager at Ipsos Global Public Affairs which conducted the poll for Reuters.
“Perhaps it is because of the media attention coming from one interpretation of the Mayan prophecy that states the world ‘ends’ in our calendar year 2012,” Gottfried said, adding that some Mayan scholars have disputed the interpretation.
Source: Reuters
People aren’t sure what it is or when it may happen, but there is a strong sentiment of unease among the general population. And it’s not all Mayan Prophecy centric.
The end of the world can come in lots of different ways. Over half of Americans, for example, think that a financial collapse is imminent. While such an event wouldn’t shift our geomagnetic poles or cause five thousand foot high Tsunamis, a collapse of the world’s economy, the US dollar or the international banking system would have implications so severe that it could cost millions of lives in its wake through food shortages and global conflict over resources.
Apocalypse now: Poll shows 1 in 7 thinks end of world is near
Nearly 15 percent of people worldwide believe the world will end during their lifetime, and 10 percent think the Mayan calendar could signify that it will happen this year, according to a new poll.
The end of the Mayan calendar — which spans about 5,125 years — on Dec. 21 has sparked interpretations and suggestions that it marks the end of the world.

SANFORD, Florida (Reuters) – A Florida judge rejected a prosecution request to raise the bond for George Zimmerman on Friday, after it was disclosed that the man charged with murdering unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin had received about $200,000 from anonymous donors to fund his defense.
“I’m not going to make a snap decision,” Circuit Court Judge Kenneth Lester Jr. said during a hearing in Sanford, the central Florida town where 17-year-old Martin was shot dead by Zimmerman in February.

The couple took firearms training courses and got handguns and concealed carry permits in late 2009 — three years before Zimmerman shot unarmed teen Trayvon Martin dead — after a pit bull named Big Boi menaced Shellie Zimmerman near their home, Reuters reported.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Obama administration on Monday plans to outline how U.S. laws empower the government to kill Americans overseas who engage in terrorism against their home country, a source familiar with the matter said, months after a drone strike killed a U.S.-born cleric who plotted attacks from Yemen.
Prison Planet.com » The DHS Defends Globalism, Not America
The Department Of Homeland Security is the very epitome of unnecessary bureaucracy. Its formation was predicated on the existence of terrorist threats, many of which the U.S. government and orbiting alphabet agencies either created through acts of war, or fabricated out of thin air.
Its policies of centralization were sold to the public as necessary to prevent systemic “miscommunications” that never actually took place.
Throughout our history, it has been a rare occasion indeed when an attack falls upon American infrastructure or interests that was not influenced, directly or indirectly, by the actions of agencies which were supposedly employed to prevent such events from ever occurring.
Whether through ‘blowback’, or through ‘false flag’, frankly, most of the harm that comes to our nation is perpetrated by the guiding hand of our inexorably corrupt government.
Knowing that the DHS was established on false pretenses forces us to question the agency’s true intentions, especially when a professional fear-monger like Secretary Janet Napolitano announces that the globalization of the world economy falls within her jurisdiction:
http://blogs.reuters.com/great-debate/2012/01/27/the-urgent-need-to-protect-the-global-supply-chain/
Average citizens would assume that the DHS is a U.S.-centric institution, and regardless of its Orwellian behavior, is at the very least a distinctly American brand of tyranny. However, under encroaching strategies enforced since 2006 through the National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP), it is becoming very apparent that the Department Of Homeland Security is quickly taking on an “all-of-nation” role, most prominently in the defense of globalization:
Prison Planet.com » FBI Attempts to Make ‘Libertarians’ the Poster Children for Domestic Extremism
As the definition of a domestic extremist continues to expand to include activists for peace, animal rights, currency, natural health, liberty and other noble causes, the FBI is ready to make an example out of one group in particular: Libertarians.
The FBI held a press conference Monday to “increase the visibility of the threat” that people who oppose taxes and regulations, government intrusions into their private property, and the desire for sound money allegedly pose to local authorities.
Although the FBI vaguely attempts to label this group as ”sometimes known as ‘sovereign citizens’”, the description sounds an awful lot like me, and millions of other liberty-minded people in America that don’t associate with any group.
They also sound like Ron Paul supporters.
According to Reuters:
Anti-government extremists opposed to taxes and regulations pose a growing threat to local law enforcement officers in the United States, the FBI warned on Monday.
These extremists, sometimes known as ‘sovereign citizens,’ believe they can live outside any type of government authority, FBI agents said at a news conference.
The extremists may refuse to pay taxes, defy government environmental regulations and believe the United States went bankrupt by going off the gold standard.
Notice the resolute use of the word “extremists” but the vague description “sometimes known as sovereign citizens.” Yet the description that these “extremists may refuse to pay taxes and defy government environmental regulations” sounds more like General Electric than average liberty activists who the FBI clearly seems hellbent on demonizing.
Additionally, the official mission for Sovereign Citizens is to “Protect Property Rights and American Civil Liberties.” As fierce protectors of property rights, they take environmental damage quite seriously. Many would argue that an environmental policy governed by property rights is far more effective than the bloated EPA which is wholly owned by corporate polluters.
“Sovereign members often express particular outrage at tax collection, putting Internal Revenue Service employees at risk,” Reuters assumes. Yet, choosing not to pay taxes is by definition a form of non-violent civil disobedience. And no credible threats against individual IRS agents were cited.
Opposing taxes only seems dangerous to those who wish to perpetuate this prison society. I would even suggest that it’s far more dangerous to continue to fund an organization who wages murderous wars abroad based on lies, who builds a militarized police state at home, who removes all individual liberty in the name of safety, and who bails out criminal cartels while the innocent suffer. The real extremists would seem to be the ones who support such a blood-thirsty organization, not the people who oppose its wicked ways.
But the FBI does their best to convince us that that sovereign citizens are dangerous extremists by warning us they can turn violent “at the drop of a hat,” as Stuart McArthur, assistant director in the FBI’s counterterrorism division, said at the press conference.
As evidence, McArthur refers to one incident where two men claiming to be Sovereign Citizens killed two Arkansas policemen after an argument. Because this isolated and highly suspect incident is hardly worthy of labeling an entire philosophical group as violent, McArthur desperately tries to dignify the reason for the FBI’s alert with other, even more vague examples:
Last year, an extremist in Texas opened fire on a police officer during a traffic stop. The officer was not hit.

It’s unclear exactly why, but the Department of Homeland has been operating a “Social Networking/Media Capability” program to monitor the top blogs, forums and social networks online for at least the past 18 months.
Based on a privacy compliance review from last November recently obtained by Reuters, the purpose of the project is to “collect information used in providing situational awareness and establishing a common operating picture.” Whatever that means.
Either way, the list of sites reported by Reuters reveals in a Wednesday afternoon exclusive is pretty intriguing…
Ice Age “News” is Wrong—It’s Coming Sooner Than Later
When you consider the millions of words published as “news” about global warming, a massive hoax based on the theory that an increase in the Earth’s levels of carbon dioxide (CO2), a minor atmospheric gas (0.0380%), it boggles the mind that reporters for a respected newswire, Reuters, would still be writing utter rubbish about it.
Just as the “news” about global warming was demolished in 2009 and again in 2011 with the leaked emails of the conspirators behind the fictions of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the main agency behind the hoax, on January 9, Nina Chesney of Reuters London Bureau, reported about a paper in the journal, Nature Geoscience, that the “Next Ice Age not likely before 1,500 years: study.”
The paper claimed that “Concentrations of the main gases blamed for global warming reached record levels in 2010 and will linger in the atmosphere for decades even if the world stopped pumping out emissions today, according to the U.N.’s weather agency.”
The U.N. does not have a “weather agency.” It has a propaganda agency devoted in its own words to “climate.” The two are not the same. Weather is what is occurring right now and climate is the measurement of trends over centuries.
Lies, Damned Lies & Enviro-Fraud
“The greatest challenge facing mankind is the challenge of distinguishing reality from fantasy, truth from propaganda”. The late science writer Michael Crichton certainly put his finger on the spirit of our age.
If you don’t believe Crichton was right, consider this. Our smartphones collate and spit out our diet of fast-news, while Twitter’s 140 characters provide much of our analysis. The 30-second sound-bite and 24/7 news is all we have time for, especially where the latest claims of transient science are concerned. Never has a generation been so vulnerable to superficial thought and, in consequence, the pro-activism of the propagandist social engineer; hence Crichton’s assessment. Step forward a pseudo-scientific movement with an agenda—and the very latest technology able to help them take advantage.

What is most disturbing about this story, apart from the obvious horror, is that not one news account reported what one witness said the shooter was screaming: “allahu akbar.” Not one news account. The media is the enemy.
Check out the video here. One of the witness states that the shooter was repeatedly shouting “allahu akbar” at minute 2:42. This video is on the bottom right of the LA Times new story, but they don’t mention it in their coverage — neither does Reuters, CBS news, The Hollywood Reporter, KFAI, or any of the other news reports. I expect that this video will be removed or edited.

Ever dream of leaving it all behind and heading out of America? You’re not the only one. A new study shows that more US citizens than ever before are living outside of the country. According to statistics from the US State Department, around 6.4 million Americans are either working or studying overseas, which Gallup says is the largest number ever for such statistic. The polling organization came across the number after conducting surveys in 135 outside nations and the information behind the numbers reveal that this isn’t exactly a longtime coming either — numbers have skyrocketed only in recent years. In the 24 months before polling began, the number of Americans between the ages of 25 and 34 living abroad managed to surge from barely 1 percent to over 5.1 percent. For those under the age span wishing to move overseas, the percentage has jumped in the same amount of time from 15 percent to 40. While the United States of America was at one point (and largely still is) a magnet for foreigners in search of work, the statistics makes it clear that an opposite trend is quickly picking up steam.
“There’s a feeling among more entrepreneurial Americans that if you really want to get anything done, you have to get out of country and away from the depressing atmosphere,” Bob Adams of America Wave tells Reuters. “There’s a sense of lost direction, so more people are looking for locations that offer more hope about the future.”

Bernanke Launches an Old Testament Diss Against Ron Paul by Robert Wenzel

And Austrian economics, too. Article by Bob Wenzel.
*****
This comment isn’t in his prepared remarks, so it must have come during the Q&A.
Despite this being an odd metaphor from a guy who, while a teenager, helped roll the Torah scrolls in his local synagogue, you know that the metaphor is aimed at Ron Paul. Bernanke is pushing Austrian Business Cycle Theory (which Ron Paul supports), as a “Pain Theory” of solving the economic crisis, when he says that “we need to help people”. He’s implying that something different from the old time economic theories can now be used to “help people” during an economic crisis.
This, I remind you, is coming from a guy who as Chairman of the Federal Reserve crashed the economy and destroyed the housing market, and where, as a result of the crash, roughly 9%, to this day, remain unemployed. Some help he is.
