Now, over the next couple of months, we’ve got a couple of issues: gun control. (Applause.) I just came from Denver, where the issue of gun violence is something that has haunted families for way too long, and it is possible for us to create common-sense gun safety measures that respect the traditions of gun ownership in this country and hunters and sportsmen, but also make sure that we don’t have another 20 children in a classroom gunned down by a semiautomatic weapon — by a fully automatic weapon in that case,

JFK believe it or not: Oswald wasn’t even a shooter! | Veterans Today

“The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices – to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn. And the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to . . . The Twilight Zone.” — Rod Serling, 1960

As we approach the 49th observance of the assassination of JFK, I have been invited to speak at The Roxie Theatre in San Francisco on 22 November 2012 and explain what Oliver Stone got right and got wrong in his monumental film, “JFK”. Most of the film is right, where Oliver Stone has given us the most accurate, complete and comprehensive presentation of what actually happened in Dealey Plaza on 22 November 1963 that has ever been provided to the American public though the mass media.

This sounds like a Rainbow Push sort of speech. Drudge has the picture up where he’s shouting angrily…if this is from the Hannity video then it might be at a Rainbow Push meeting because it looks like it’s in a stadium or arena or something and not a traditional stage venue Obama is speaking candidly to a crowd in much the same way he spoke to that gaggle of large Democrat donors in the Getty Mansion in San Franciscoback in early 2008 when he made his infamous remark that Pennsylvanians were “bitter-clingers” who wouldn’t give up their guns or their religion…………

Flashback: Who Is Abdurahman Alamoudi And Why Is Obama Trying To Set Him Free? (Blind Sheik…) (“So what if the blowback means releasing an admitted terrorist upon an unsuspecting public?”)

In a previous article Muslim Outreach? Team Obama Moves To Release Convicted Al-Qaeda Financier Aldurahman M. Alamoudi From Prison we highlighted the Obama Administration’s effort to free [or seriously reduce the long prison sentence of] this terrorist Muslim Brotherhood

gophum

operative.

[Note his first name has been variously spelled in official documents as, Abdur Rahman, Abdurahman, Abdulrahman and Aldurahman. We have settled on the convention of using Abdurahman, the phonetic spelling used on Alamoudi's checks during this period of time - see below.]

Alamoudi is a convicted al-Qaeda linked terrorist, who raised nearly $1 million in a plot to assassinate the then Crown Prince Abdullah, now King of Saudi Arabia.

Identified in government documents as a member of the Muslim Brotherhood [see, U.S. vs. Holy Land Foundation, List of Unindicted Co-conspirators and/or Joint Venturers, Attachment A, page 8 heading, "The following are individuals/entities who are and/or were members of the US Muslim Brotherhood] Alamoudi led what has been termed “…one of the most successful Brotherhood influence operations…in America in the 1990s…”

As [former Federal Prosecutor] Andy McCarthy presciently observed in 2004, “Whether Alamoudi will actually serve the 23 years is questionable. His plea agreement contemplates cooperation with the government. If he provides truthful information or testimony that helps the government further investigations – particularly terrorism cases – he could become eligible for a significant reduction. Time will tell…” [see, Andy McCarthy, Alamoudi, National Review, http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/87680/alamoudi-andrew-c-mccarthy%5D

We have reason to believe that there was no cooperation by Alamoudi with the Feds through the late 2000s, so the question remains as to what key information such a dedicated Islamic terrorist would possibly provide at this late date, that would force his release from prison and thus [since he remains an American citizen] place him right back on the front lines of the Muslim Brotherhood’s stealth jihad?

What do we have here?

Alamoudi undergoing an unbelievably radical change of heart? Are we going to be asked to believe that he no longer supports Hamas, or Hezbollah; that he’s turned against the Muslim Brotherhood, al-Qaeda and the myriad of groups totally committed to Islamic supremacy and the establishment of a world-wide caliphate by any means?

That seems doubtful, much more believably, this is pure political groveling by Team Obama. Given the administration’s now public courting of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood what would serve that cause better than the release of one of its previous go-to guys in America?

Does anyone get the impression that Obama, Emmanuel etc. want to overthrow the American way?

August 6, 2012 3 comments

Does anyone get the impression that the American left will use anything and anyone to further its cause? Today it’s the gay flash mob tomorrow who knows what it will be. The end result will be total failure but at what price?

Without a shot being fired, is it that they want to launch a coup against the United States? Maybe calling it a coup is too much for those who cannot deal with reality. Maybe we should call it a soft coup the dream of the progressive left. Is it that this is a furthering of the progressive movement that seeks to suffocate the 200 year American constitutional movement and evolve it into a nonsensical socialist blob?

We were thinking about this flash mob that attacked Chick-Fil-A. In this case the mob consisted of an axis of the main stream media, the usual suspects of Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Emmanuel et al. and the rest of the leftist truants, the leftist homosexual community and other useful idiots. We already know that President Obama wants to replace the Constitution with his version of the Communist Manifesto but what of the mayors of Chicago, San Francisco, and Boston. They swore an oath to the Constitution when assuming the mayoral office, but when they put together a flash mob to attack Chick-Fil-A they flagrantly violated their constitutional oath. They were in essence saying,” Now that we have the power, to hell with the Constitution we are going to replace it with gibberish and nonsense for fun and profit. Today the gay movement will serve our purposes. Tomorrow it will be something else. Nah! Nah! Nah! The Constitution is no more.”

Do you ever wonder how these leftists always seem to come into office with nothing and leave with hundreds of millions? Isn’t that odd? These leftists who hate the rich become richer than the 1% by steering all those lucrative Federal contracts their way.

Is it really that the Chick-Fil-A controversy boils down to letting gays have their version of marriage, or is it that those pulling the strings of power seek to reduce core values down to confusion before they replace them with the real agenda. What could it be?

‘America In Decline’: Mitt Romney Gets Grim Warning From Australian Leader

July 23, 2012 1 comment

The Australian foreign minister has privately warned Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney that foreign leaders see “America in decline.”That’s according to Romney, who says he met with Foreign Minister Bob Carr in a San Francisco hotel Sunday evening shortly before a Republican fundraiser.Romney says Carr suggested that America could improve that international perception “with one budget deal” that helps balance the budget.A Romney spokesman says the foreign minister requested the private meeting. The news likely comes as quite an embarrassment for supporters of President Obama. Not only has the president apparently managed an America “in decline,” but one of his campaign platforms was restoring America’s image to the rest of the world after eight years of George W. Bush.In fact, on January 19th he said his administration had already accomplished the goal.“What we were also able to do, I think, is to restore a sense of America as the sole, indispensable power,” the president said, “a country that, whether it’s responding to an earthquake or a tsunami, or it’s dealing with a dictator that is about to ruthlessly butcher his people, we aren’t out there alone.”

The world’s biggest banks are working with one another and police to gather intelligence as protesters try to rejuvenate the Occupy Wall Street movement with May demonstrations, industry security consultants said.

Among 99 protest targets in midtown Manhattan on Tuesday are JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America offices, said Marisa Holmes, a member of Occupy’s May Day planning committee.

Events are scheduled in more than 115 cities, including an effort to shut down the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, where Wells Fargo investors relied on police to get past protests at their annual meeting this week.

“Our goal is to kick off the spring offensive and go directly to where the financial elite play and plan,” she said.

After evictions and arrests from Manhattan’s Zuccotti Park to London that began last year, the movement against income inequality and corporate abuse will regain strength, said Brian McNary, director of global risk at Pinkerton Consulting & Investigations.

Major Obama Crony-Contributor company to count and manage 2012 US Vote results? (“You will not be able to vote him out of office. By the time he assumes the position of President of the United States it will already be too late.”)

April 13, 2012 7 comments

By Sher Zieve

We seem to have reached the end of the United States of America, folks. At least that is what the Obama syndicate wants us to believe. The time to panic has come and gone and now the great and planned wasteland of what was once our country has already begun its implementation. Will we ever stop it?

From a recent Obama court’s ruling that passengers have no more rights not to be sexually molested by TSA employees through the US Treasury being summarily routed by Obama, Geithner and the rest of the Obama syndicate’s hordes, the US Constitution‘s Bill of Rights having been overturned and decimated by the Soros-directed Obama syndicate, the Second Amendment being compromised by the Obama-Holder illegal “gunwalker” schemes to the NWO’s Agenda 21 (which will now determine where people are allowed to live and work and what transportation they may use) beginning implementation in California (more specifically San Francisco-where else?) the Obama beast and a supplicant and willing Congress have allowed the complete destruction of America.

It seems that my 2008 prediction may be coming to fruition when I wrote: “After Obama is elected, all of his programs and people to keep him in power indefinitely — and to rid him of any and all opposition — will be firmly in place. You will not be able to vote him out of office. By the time he assumes the position of President of the United States it will already be too late.

(“Missed by all but one of the mainstream media”) Michelle Obama “really needs” CodePink

April 10, 2012 Leave a comment

Missed by all but one of the mainstream media: Michelle Obama “really needs” CodePink.

During a fund raising trip to the Bay Area on March 30, the First Lady told CodePink co-founders to “keep up the good work”. Obama’s congratulations were reported only by the San Francisco Chronicle.

First Lady Michelle Obama, accepting an anti-war petition at a fundraiser in San Francisco last week, told the CodePink member who presented her with 20,000 signatures, “Keep up the great work,” the organization’s co-founders say. (San Francisco Chronicle, April 4, 2012).

“CodePink co-founder Medea Benjamin wrote a blogpost today about the First Lady’s visit. In it, she related she said what happened behind the scenes when Kristin Hall, a CodePink supporter—one who paid to get into the $500 a head fundraiser—personally met up with Michelle Obama at the California Academy of Sciences last Friday.

“After Hull handed Mrs. Obama a petition urging peacekeeping not war with Iran—a document signed by luminaries like Gloria Steinham, Alice Walker and Eve Ensler—Mrs. Obama thanked Hull for her advocacy and said, “Keep up the great work,” writes Benjamin. “As Hull was walking away after her photo with the First Lady, Michelle Obama grabbed her hand, squeezed it and said, “We really need you.” (Italics CFP’s).

Americans Have Become Compliant-Nanny-statism crippling the spirit, commonsense of the country

FrontPage Magazine ^ | March 16, 2012 | Walter Williams

Posted on Friday, March 16, 2012 8:04:45 AM by SJackson

Last month, at a Raeford, N.C., elementary school, a teacher confiscated the lunch of a 5-year-old girl because it didn’t meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines and therefore was deemed nonnutritious. She replaced it with school cafeteria chicken nuggets. The girl’s home-prepared lunch was nutritious; it consisted of a turkey and cheese sandwich, potato chips, a banana and apple juice. But whether her lunch was nutritious or not is not the issue. The issue is governmental usurpation of parental authority.

In a number of states, pregnant teenage girls may be given abortions without the notification or the permission of parents. The issue is neither abortion nor whether a pregnant teenager should have an abortion. The issue is this: What gives the government the authority to usurp parental authority?

Part of the problem is that people who act as instruments of government do not pay a personal price for usurping parental authority. The reason is Americans, unlike Americans of yesteryear, have become timid and, as such, come to accept all manner of intrusive governmental acts. Can you imagine what a rugged American, such as one portrayed by John Wayne, would have done to a government tyrant who confiscated his daughter’s lunch or facilitated her abortion without his permission?

I believe that the anti-tobacco movement partially accounts for today’s compliant American. Tobacco zealots started out with “reasonable” demands, such as the surgeon general’s warning on cigarette packs. Then they demanded nonsmoking sections on airplanes. Emboldened by that success, they demanded no smoking at all on airplanes and then airports and then restaurants and then workplaces — all in the name of health. Seeing the compliant nature of smokers, they’ve moved to ban smoking on beaches, in parks and on sidewalks in some cities. Now they’re calling for higher health insurance premiums for smokers. Had the tobacco zealots demanded their full agenda when they started out, they would not have achieved anything.

Using the anti-tobacco crusade as their template and finding Americans so compliant, zealots and would-be tyrants are extending their agenda.

Why not control what we eat? San Francisco, Chicago and several other cities have outlawed or are seeking to outlaw serving foie gras in restaurants. Here’s my challenge to these people: Don’t be a coward and use the state to accomplish your agenda. If you see Williams eating foie gras, just come up and take it off his plate.

Nancy Pelosi Wants A Federal Babysitting Service

Buried in a Washington Post story about Herman Cain calling Nancy Pelosi, “Princess Nancy” is a new policy idea that Pelosi has been pitching recently during her short tour through California.

“One of the great pieces of unfinished business is high-quality child care; I wonder why we just can’t do that,’’ she recently said to a California audience.

By “we”, Pelosi means the federal government. Pelosi clarified that Congress should be “doing for child care what we did for health-care reform.”

The Post characterizes Pelosi as touting the economic and social benefits of government child-sitting:

When it comes to “unleashing women” in a way that would boost the economy, she says, “this is a missing link.”

According to Pelosi, the babysitting market — one of the last unregulated sectors of the American economy — is broken.

“I could never get a babysitter — have five kids in six years and no one wants to come to your house. . . . And everywhere I go, women say the same thing,” she said.

This is an odd thing for Pelosi to be hearing since her San Francisco district has more dogs than children.

Facebook’s new Timeline set to ‘lock in’ users

October 1, 2011 Leave a comment

WASHINGTON: Facebook begins rolling out its biggest ever shake-up, in a move observers say will not only profoundly alter how its 800 million users interact with the site, but will keep them coming back for decades to come.

The new “Timeline,” revealed last week by chief executive Mark Zuckerberg will also likely shock some users, notorious for backlashes in recent years over even small adjustments to the site, let alone a complete re-think of how their lives are presented to the world.

The changes amount to the “heart of your Facebook experience, completely rethought from the ground up,” Zuckerberg told an annual developers conference.

Rick Marini, CEO of the Facebook-focused “career network” BranchOut, which itself boasts millions of users, marveled this week in a conference call with marketers and reporters how the site had managed to build an enduring model.

The King of the World…

September 28, 2011 Leave a comment

Rodney King showed up at the United Nations on Sept. 20 and instructed everyone there to well, get along.

Actually, it was Barack Obama, but his message was the same as the one from the man whose beating by police (after a 117-mph car chase) triggered the Los Angeles riots of 1992 when the cops were acquitted. During the riot, King came out and famously said, “People, I just want to say, you know, can’t we all get along?”

The topic at the UN was Obama’s wish for the Palestinians and Israelis to be at peace in two nations, side by side. Meanwhile, the Security Council was considering recognizing an independent Palestinian state.

But the real message seemed to be Obama’s taking the dais as King of the World. Like a good sovereign, he touched on every theme imaginable to make “our children” happy, wealthy and wise. He talked about curing various diseases, stopping war and climate change, advancing science, prosperity and, yes, even gay rights, throwing in a line suited to a fundraiser in San Francisco. Of course, with his converting the United States military into the largest homosexual sensitivity training unit in history this week, why should we be surprised? Obama spoke as if the interests of the world were the same as those of the United States. He stroked the attendees repeatedly, reminding them of the UN’s importance, noting that “the United Nations helped avert a third world war.”

Actually, it was………………………

Anonymous Goes After the Pepper Spray Cop’s Personal Info

September 27, 2011 Leave a comment

The police officer videoed spraying what appears to be pepper spray into the eyes of peaceful protesters in New York City on Saturday has found Internet fame as online activists target him in traditional hacker fashion: By releasing all his personal and professional data online in an attack known as a dox. The last few months have seen the online activism of Anonymous moving into the real world with direct actions like the Op-BART demonstrations in San Francisco and the ongoing Occupy Wall Street protest in New York. The spread of this video blurs the line between online and real-world activism once more as the wider digital population of Anonymous targets the officer for retaliation by going after his data, his identity, and his job in a classic bit of hactivism.

Protesters greet Obama’s motorcade on the Peninsula

September 26, 2011 Leave a comment

President Barack Obama has arrived in the Bay Area for a series of back-to-back fundraisers where he is expected to collect from $3.5 million to $5.5 million at events in Silicon Valley‘s toniest towns.

Monday, he’ll hold a town hall meeting on his American Jobs Act plan at the social network company LinkedIn.

This is the president’s second visit to the Bay Area in six months, and his sixth visit since taking office. He’s here to take advantage of the generous fundraising support he receives: Contributors from the area’s three major cities coughed up $35.5 million for his 2008 campaign, and at least about $2.2 million for his re-election as of June 30.

Air Force One landed shortly after 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Moffett Field in Sunnvyale. From there the president was whisked to the Woodside home of Symantec chairman John Thompson, where a crowd of about 400 paid at least $2,500 a head to get in, $7,500 if they wanted a photo with the chief executive.

Along the way, more than 100 conservative protesters carrying signs and chanting “one-term president!” greeted the president’s motorcade at Sand Hill Road and Whiskey Hill Road.

Owen Jones, 59, of Fremont, held a sign saying, “Illegals cost U.S. trillions — no more freebies for illegal aliens.”

A member of the Golden Gate Minutemen, Jones said he has spent 40 years as a union carpenter “watching his trade and his livelihood stolen by illegal immigration.”

Lost iPhone 5: Bernal Heights Man Says Visitors Impersonating Police Searched His Home (Exclusive):

Update (3:25 p.m.): Police now say they did assist Apple security with the home search of a Bernal Heights man. Read the full story here.

A Bernal Heights man says that six officials claiming to be San Francisco Police officers questioned him and searched his family’s home in July for a lost iPhone 5 prototype they asserted had been traced to the residence using GPS technology.

The man’s statements to SF Weekly in an exclusive interview add significant new twists to the unfolding story of the unreleased iPhone 5 that was reportedly lost at a San Francisco restaurant this summer.

If accurate, his account raises the possibility that Apple security personnel attempting to recover the prototype falsely represented themselves as police officers — a criminal act punishable by up to a year in jail in the state of California — or that SFPD employees colluding with Apple failed to properly report an extensive search of a person’s home, car, and computer.

“This is something that’s going to need to be investigated now,” SFPD spokesman Lt. Troy Dangerfield said, when informed about the Bernal Heights man’s statements to SF Weekly. “If this guy is saying that the people said they were SFPD, that’s a big deal.”……………….

Once again, union members are up to their tiresome intimidation tactics.

In San Francisco, CA, a group of striking janitorial workers carrying SEIU signs at the Westfield Mall was caught on video taunting and scraping with security guards trying to open up the entrance.

This video adds to a string of surfacing union acts within the past couple of days. Recently, an Ohio business man was shot for being ‘non-union‘ and a Communication Workers of America (CWA) representative called for “open season” on “managers and scabs” of Verizon.

In SF, A Move To Stop Using Criminal History

Employers, landlords would be banned from using priors in hiring, housing decision

Proponents say that with California under orders to reduce its prison population such a plan is necessary to help former inmates reintegrate and reduce the likelihood of repeat offenses. But others say that business owners have a right to be cautious in order to protect themselves and others.

Similar policies have been implemented by several states and more than twenty local governments across the nation.

San Francisco’s proposal was floated by the city’s Reentry Council — a group that helps adult convicts leaving jail or prison and includes representatives from the District Attorney’s Office, the police department and the sheriff’s department.

Public Defender Jeff Adachi, whose office is also represented on the council, said the panel found that employers and landlords were increasingly using background checks and eliminating candidates with criminal records.

“What we saw then is really a revolving door,” he said. “A person would be released from custody, not be able to secure housing, not be able to find a job and wind up back in the (prison) system.”

One in four adults in California — about 7 million people — has a misdemeanor or felony arrest or conviction record, according to the Reentry Council. And the state is under federal orders to reduce its prison population by more than 20 percent over the next two years.

Adachi said these factors add particular importance to removing barriers to employment and housing.

However, David Wasserman, a board member with the San Francisco Apartment Association, said courts have made it clear that owners are res

Gay Indoctrination in CA

July 20, 2011 Leave a comment

The California governor has signed into law a bill that will not simply require a “gay historycurriculum. It requires a form of “indoctrination” that will label Christianity as being intolerant and bigoted, one critic says.

“The bill is not about teaching gay history. That’s what the sponsors of the bill are portraying it as. That is not the language of the bill. That is not what it does, that’s not the intent,” William B. May, head of the San Francisco-based Catholics for the Common Good, told EWTN News on July 15.

While the history of the gay rights movement would be covered in history books as history, he said, the bill’s curriculum standards require “bringing to the attention of students the sexuality of people in history and social studies, who happen to be gay, lesbian, transgender or bisexual.”

“It also has the effect of making sure that they are portrayed in a good light,” May continued. “It’s really an indoctrination bill that is being totally misrepresented by the politicians and by the media.”

Gov. Jerry Brown signed the bill into law on July 14 after it passed the Democrat-controlled legislature on a largely party-line vote.

“We’re disappointed that the governor signed it,” May said. “It’s a troubling precedent for politicians to dictate what’s in textbooks.”

Democratic state Sen. Mark Leno of San Francisco, the bill’s author, said that teaching gay history in public schools will teach students to be more accepting of gays and lesbians.

“We should not be afraid to teach our children of the broad diversity of human experience,” Sen. Leno said, according to Fox News. “It’s not going away, it’s always been with us. We have different kinds of people, who are, under law, to be treated equally. Why would we not want to teach our children this?”

He compared opponents to those who criticized curriculum requirements for ethnic and women’s studies.

However, May warned that the curriculum requirements will have adverse effects on groups that disapprove of homosexual behavior.

“This bill will contribute to Christianity coming under attack in the classroom as being intolerant, bigoted, and standing in the way of progress,” he told CNA. “This is part of a broader agenda to redefine love, relationships, marriage and family.”

He noted the related public debate about bullying, which he called “a serious problem” that “needs to be dealt with directly.”

He rejected the claim that curriculum requirements would reduce bullying.

“It’s absurd to think that teaching about the sexual characteristics or sexual orientation of people in history is going to have any bearing on that,” he continued.

Archbishop Jose Gomez of Los Angeles has also criticized the bill. In a July 5 column, he called it “another example of the government interfering with parents’ rights to be their children’s primary educators.”

The bill could have national effects. Because of California’s size and influence, many textbook publishers adjust their products to meet California curriculum standards.

May said the bill’s passage into law is “just one more wake-up call for the need to organize.”

He pointed out that Catholics for the Common Good has launched projects like Stand with Children, a marriage advocacy program.

It is also organizing a program called Faith in Action, which consists of small formation and support groups for “not just defending marriage and family, but promoting it.”

Prison Planet.com » 3 Examples Of How “It’s Policy” Has Become An Excuse For Absolutely Unspeakable Acts

July 15, 2011 Leave a comment

n the United States today, young children are taught from the moment that they first enter school that they are to blindly follow orders. By the time most Americans have become adults, if they are told that something “is policy” then they just accept it. Decades of conditioning have trained us to do what we are told no matter what the consequences are. But what happens when “policy” asks us to do the unthinkable? All over America, “it’s policy” has become an excuse for absolutely unspeakable acts. Fire crews are standing by and watching homes burn to the ground and rescue crews are standing by and watching people drown all in the name of policy. Because it is “policy”, every single day in airports all over the nation TSA “officials” are sexually touching Americans and Americans are allowing them to do it. Things have gotten completely and totally out of control. Hitler and Stalin and Chairman Mao were able to do the things that they did because their people blindly adhered to their “policies”. In the United States today, is there anything that the American people would not do if they were told that it was “policy” to do it?

This country is starting to get really crazy. Just consider the following three examples where “it’s policy” was used as an excuse for absolutely horrifying behavior….

#1 In the San Francisco area recently, fire crews and police stood on the shore and just watched as a 50 year old man slowly drowned in the San Francisco Bay. In the old days, Americans were never concerned with what “the policy” was in a situation like that. If someone was drowning people that could swim would jump in and rescue them. But today all of that has changed. The following is how an article posted on MSNBC described the incident with the drowning man….

History Books Get Gay Makeover

According to a shocking news report, California legislators have enacted legislation that gives the state the dubious distinction of being the first state in the nation to require public schools to include the contributions of gays and lesbians in their social studies curriculum.

We can be certain that one result of this ill-advised move will subject kids to a form of what CIA spooks call “blow back” — an inevitable result of a specific action.

When I was a youngster I was teased and bullied for being an adopted child. In view of my personal experiences, should we add the contributions of adoptees to the legislation? How about adding the contributions of skinny kids, or kids with red hair, or extra-long legs or eyeglasses?

Where does it stop?

Singling out a segment of the population for specific inclusion in school studies programs on the basis of their sexual preferences elevates what — rightly or wrongly — many see as a form of sexual perversion, to a civil right.

The bill, SB 48, passed on a party-line vote, adds lesbian, gay, bisexual and so-called transgendered people as well as those with physical or mental disabilities to the list of groups that schools must include in the lessons. It also would prohibit material that reflects adversely on gays.

Unless I’m badly mistaken, what the legislature has done is to classify sexual preference as a form of disability, meaning that those who adopt the lifestyle are mentally or physically disabled though no fault of their own. Somehow I seriously doubt that gays or cross-dressers will appreciate being classified as disabled as a result of their sexual orientation or preferences.

This is just another example of the tendency of legislators sticking their noses into the personal lives of the citizenry.

It will prove instructive to see how the state’s lawmakers go about the job of implementing this absurd legislation. Will they, for example, rule that textbooks must describe what the state classifies as acceptable behavior? Or exactly how?

Should the state require textbooks used in its schools to provide play-by-play descriptions of the behavior they sanction? Just where does this stop? Should not the “contributions” of convicted thieves be celebrated? Or those of serial killers? Or embezzlers?

The matter of the content of school textbooks has long been a controversial subject, but until now it has never reached the point where specific parts of the population are singled out for preferential treatment, especially when the segment of the population is distinguished solely by their sexual preferences.

School textbooks should never be used to promote anybody’s political positions. They should instruct, not propagandize the publisher’s personal politics.

According to news reports, San Francisco’s Democratic Assemblyman Tom Ammiano insists that SB 48 is crucial because gay students are being bullied. Republicans said the bill had good intentions but was ill-conceived, and raised concerns regarding indoctrination of children.

Assembly Speaker John Perez, the first openly gay speaker of the California Assembly, says, “This bill will require California schools to present a more accurate and nuanced view of American history in our social science curriculum by recognizing the accomplishments of groups that are not often recognized.”

Sorry, Mr. Speaker, but the sexual preferences of groups “that are not often recognized” have no place in deciding the legitimacy of legislation.

California Gov. Jerry Brown has yet to announce if he will sign the bill or follow in the footsteps of former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who vetoed a similar bill on 2006.

One hopes the governor will have his veto pen handy. This bill is a monstrosity.

In the late 1970′s, when the tests became public knowledge, the Army insisted that they were harmless. But in 1950, one San Franciscan died and others became ill from urinary tract and heart infections after the Army sprayed Serratia marcescens on the city.

Unaware of the Army’s test, doctors in San Francisco wrote about the unusual Serratia infections in a medical journal. They had never before encountered such an outbreak. Although the infections began three days after the spraying, the Army decided that the timing was ”apparently coincidental” and that testing should continue. Neither then nor in later tests has the Army monitored the health of the people exposed.

Pentagon spokesmen testified at a Senate hearing in 1977 that open air tests were no longer taking place but that they would be resumed if the Army felt the need. It is this newly felt need that is making Utah residents, among others restless. Although Bacillus subtilis is not as dangerous as some other micro-organisms, it can cause infections and, among the very old or young and people weakened by other conditions, fatalities. The Army’s denial of risk is simply not supportable.

Stranger still is the remark by an Army public affairs officer that Bacillus subtilis is not a ”genuine bacteriological agent.” Rather, she said, it is merely a simulant that ”mimics characteristics of biological material.”

The suggestion that any bacteria are not biological material is Orwellian newspeak. Yet, it serves a purpose. A 1969 Federal law holds that the military must notify local civilian officials when tests might expose people to biological or chemical agents.

Forget Your “Junk”—The TSA Wants to Feel Up Your Mind

February 9, 2011 Leave a comment

Ben Buchwalter

Feb9,

YOU’RE UNHAPPY with the choice between having the Transportation Security Administration “porno-scanning” you or touching your junk, this might also freak you out: The TSA is trying to read your mind.

Since June 2003, it’s been monitoring travelers’ facial expressions and body language for signs that they might be hiding something. As of March 2010, the TSA’s Screening Passengers by Observational Techniques SPOT program had 3,000 “behavior detection officers” in more than 150 airports.

job is to strike up conversations with passengers at security checkpoints, checking for what one TSA official describes as “behaviors that show you’re trying to get away with something you shouldn’t be doing.”

People who don’t display “normal airport behavior” may be stopped for questioning.SPOT is based largely on the work of Paul Ekman, a behavioral scientist who has spent his career identifying “microexpressions”—twitches lasting between one-fifteenth and one-twenty-fifth of a second that reveal intentionally concealed emotions. Ekman’s methods have been used by the animators ofToy Story and Shrek and celebrated by Malcolm Gladwell, and they inspired the Fox TV series Lie To Me, whose main character is a human lie detector who thrives on confrontations with psychopaths and murderers. That’s a far cry from Ekman himself, an unassuming 77-year-old who makes no claims of infallibility. “I’m never absolutely certain,” he says, sitting in his San Francisco loft.

“I can’t tell you what triggers an emotion. I can only tell you to recognize an emotion even when someone doesn’t want you to recognize it.” Nonetheless, he says that had he been stationed at an airport security checkpoint on the morning of September 11, 2001, he probably could have plucked Mohamed Atta out of a crowd. In the real world, the TSA’s behavior detection officers have yet to make such a dramatic catch. Of the 2 billion passengers who traveled through airports where the behavior-scanning program was deployed between 2004 and 2008, 152,000 were flagged for further examination.

Of those, fewer than 1,110 were arrested. Most were undocumented aliens, had outstanding warrants, or were carrying fake documents or drugs.Full article here

When asked what I found fascinating about cats, I say “they’re still in Eden; the last link to the Garden.”

Watching cats is as far as many of us will venture to the time before Good and Evil.

But in recent history the man who most tried to return to it in earnest was Jim Jones. Alas, he failed.

September 11, the greatest loss of American civilian life occurred at Jonestown, Guyana at his direction. Jones, mistakenly described as a “pastor” by those eager to direct readers away from the fact that he was a Communist, was a self-described representative of the only world religion to ever arise in the West…………………..
