As if the government were not engaging in enough surveillance of law abiding Americans already, two major developments just ensured that the snooping will increase exponentially.
Firstly, the FBI is about to launch a huge new surveillance unit that will have the ability to monitor all internet and wireless communications, including internet skype conversations.
The incredibly Orwellian titled Domestic Communications Assistance Center, will “assist” local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in spying on the American people.
After reviewing a multitude of government documents and interviewing sources involved with the FBI unit, Declan McCullagh of CNet reports:
“DCAC’s mandate is broad, covering everything from trying to intercept and decode Skype conversations to building custom wiretap hardware or analyzing the gigabytes of data that a wireless provider or social network might turn over in response to a court order. It’s also designed to serve as a kind of surveillance help desk for state, local, and other federal police.”
McCullagh notes that the unit has been in the pipeline for years and that spearheading it will be the FBI’s massive wiretapping project , which was allocated $54 million by a Senate committee last month.

The TSA has released security footage of an incident that occurred two weeks ago at San Antonio International Airport involving a Congressman who refused to allow a screener to touch his genitals.
The video clips, obtained by San Antonio TV station KENS 5, show Texas Rep. Francisco Canseco being singled out for an enhanced pat down. As the TSA screener reaches for Canseco’s private parts, the Congressman is seen swatting away the screener’s hand.
The video then shows TSA officials and San Antonio police officers swarming around Canseco, before he is finally patted down by another screener and allowed to leave for his flight.

A Tennessee man was charged and jailed by police Friday after he used an old $50 bill to pay for goods at a at Quik Mart store.
“A clerk at Quik Mart, South Cannon Boulevard, notified police after the marker used to detect counterfeit bills didn’t check as real.” reports David Melson of the Shelbyville Times-Gazette.
“The front side of the bill was off center and it didn’t feel like a normal bill, it did look to be counterfeit,” officer Brock Horner said in his report.
The man, Lorenzo Gaspar was taken to jail by the officer, but was released after a sergeant noted that old bill are still legitimate legal tender but do not “check” with modern cash markers.
Two separate banks declared the bill to be real after studying it. Mr Gaspar was released from jail with an apology and told to change the note for a newer traceable one……………………

Appearing on CNN, GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul was once again forced to dismiss calls for him to drop out of the race for the Republican nomination. In a tense exchange, the Congressman told host Piers Morgan to stop the “silly questions” about quitting.
“If I was prescribing some medicine for you right now, congressman,” Morgan said during the interview, “I think I would say the situation is looking pretty terminal for your race to the GOP nominee. Why don’t you just do the decent thing and pull out?”
Paul fired back, “Why don’t you do the decent thing and not pester me with silly questions like that? That would be decent of you.”
Morgan them spoke over the top of the Congressman as he attempted to clarify his position.
“Why don’t you let me finish?” Paul stated.
When he was finally allowed to speak, the Congressman defended his campaign and said there was still a long way to go in the race.
“You know, whether it’s up in Maine — or right now we’re doing very well in the state of Washington and North Dakota and excellent now in Nevada. And even Missouri the other day, some really good news came out there for us,” Paul said. “Through the process, our people are in the right places. They’re doing the things to become a delegate. So it’s way too soon for you to write anybody off.”
“Besides, just because somebody is in second or third place and — but there’s a race going on. What if Mitt Romney isn’t the best person?” Paul asked. “Why should we just throw in the towel because people like you say, ‘Hey, throw in the towel; people don’t want you out there wanting to debate the war and wanting to debate the Federal Reserve and wanting to debate this civil liberties, you know, assassination on American citizens, the military arresting Americans’?”

It is now official. The mainstream media is no longer covering Ron Paul’s presidential campaign.
A few weeks ago Dylan Byers of Politico reported that NBC News was the only media organization that still had a reporter covering Ron Paul full-time.
Now Byers has filed an update revealing that Anthony Terrell of NBC News has also been reassigned.
“Ron Paul is officially embedless.” writes Byers, adding that NBC has refused to comment on the decision.
Byers also reveals that other mainstream organizations, including Fox News, have no intention of putting a reporter back out full-time.
“Paul doesn’t have as many events right now as the other candidates in the race,” Hunter Ryan, the politics editor at Fox News Channel, told Byers.
“He is focusing on certain states. I am planning on covering him… [and] a combination of embed and bureau resources will be used to cover Paul going forward.”
“For most political reporters, he is all but irrelevant to the future of the GOP contest.” Byers adds.

Once again the corporate media has pounced on any opportunity it can to smear Congressman Ron Paul as he heads into perhaps the most important week of his presidential campaign thus far.
Appearing on CNN Sunday, Paul was asked his opinion on FEMA’s management of the recent aftermath of the destructive tornados in the Midwestern states.
Paul explained that he was not an advocate of the federal government having authority and responsibility over such situations, that he does not support the notion of federal money, and that the states should be allowed to take care of their own.
Of course, being the attack dog hacks that they are, corporate media minions immediately poured forth with headlines such as “Ron Paul: Victims of Midwestern tornado outbreak should not get federal aid” and “Ron Paul: No Federal Financial Aid For Tornado Victims”.

Congressman Ron Paul appeared on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight Thursday and dropped a significant hint that he would consider accepting a spot on the 2012 GOP ticket if it was offered to him.
Paul has vowed to stay in the GOP nomination race going into the national convention, and he still believes he can win it. However, there has been increasing talk of Paul potentially being on the ticket, regardless of whether he secures the nomination or not.
When asked by Morgan whether he would take a position in a Mitt Romney administration if it was offered to him, the Congressman shot back:
“I’ll have to wait and see. Maybe I’ll have to ask him if he wants to help me when I get in.”
Morgan conceded that he was hasty to discount Paul’s chances of winning, explaining that he framed the question in that way because he believes the Republican party would “be mad” not to use Paul in some form, given his popularity.

Instances of TSA agents demanding to know why travelers are “opting out” of walking through x-ray firing body scanners, and treating the action as suspicious, continue to be reported.

“I travel weekly for work and always choose to opt out of the naked body scanners. (I don’t know what’s worse, the pat down or radiation exposure, but there’s something liberating about saying “opt out.”)”
“Anyway, this week I was asked by an agent, ‘Why did you opt out?’ to which I replied, ‘Am I required to answer?’ He mumbled a bit and continued groping and poking. He then asked, ‘Where are you traveling to?’ and again I replied, ‘Am I required to answer?’” Mr Alford explained.
“It wasn’t long before a supervisor appeared, accompanied by a man in a suit (who was sporting a cross-shaped lapel pin clad in the American flag…sigh). He repeated the minion’s same question and my answer again remained unchanged.” Mr Alford added.
“After a hushed conversation between the two busybodies, I was finally allowed to go on my way, smiling with my head held high. Perhaps sometimes it’s just the small acts of defiance that leave one so fulfilled. Thank you so much for all you do. Keep up the great work.”
As we have previously reported, the TSA has warned that expressing any kind of dissatisfaction at having to be prodded, groped or forced through a radiation firing naked body scanner, will be treated as suspicious behaviour.
When someone declines to walk through a body scanner, TSA agents are trained to shout “OPT OUT!” and to conduct pat downs in full view of other passengers in security lines, to deter others from resisting.
At the height of the revolt against the TSA, it was admitted that the goal of making the pat down procedure tantamount to sexual molestation was to psychologically coerce people into using dangerous radiative body scanners, colloquially known as “Dick Measurers” amongst TSA agents.
The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg was told by a TSA agent directly that pat downs were made increasingly invasive not for any genuine security reason, but to make the experience so uncomfortable for the traveler that they would prefer to use the body scanner, despite the fact that scientists at Columbia University and the Inter-Agency Committee on Radiation Safety, along with other scientific bodies, have all warned that the devices increase the risk of developing cancer.
I asked him if he was looking forward to conducting the full-on pat-downs. “Nobody’s going to do it,” he said, “once they find out that we’re going to do.”
In other words, people, when faced with a choice, will inevitably choose the Dick-Measuring Device over molestation? “That’s what we’re hoping for. We’re trying to get everyone into the machine.” He called over a colleague. “Tell him what you call the back-scatter,” he said. “The Dick-Measuring Device,” I said. “That’s the truth,” the other officer responded.

Speaking with Candy Crowley on CNN’s “State of the Union”, Paul dubbed the TSA a “bureaucratic monster” that “totally voids the concept of the fourth amendment.”
“They trap us into it,” Paul told Crowley. “There’s no way you can travel if you don’t do it. So I’ve said, you know, when you look at some of these pictures of probing groin areas and breast areas and all this, and old women having to take their clothes off, if we as a people are so complacent that we can look at that and say, oh, that’s OK, they’re making us safe.”

Limbaugh was commenting on the incident involving Congressman Paul’s son, Senator Rand Paul, who was detained by the TSA in Nashville after refusing to submit to an enhanced pat-down.
Limbaugh exclaimed that Rand Paul had “sent his dad a note about it and it’s become a big story out there.”
“If this had been Ron Paul, you couldn’t really blame the TSA.” Limbaugh continued, “You have to admit, Ron Paul almost sounds like an Islamic terrorist sometimes…” he added before sniggering and suggesting he meant the comment as a joke.

Clearly, as far as Limbaugh is concerned, anyone who has a problem with federal goons shoving their hands down people’s pants is probably a terrorist.
Anyone who isn’t for a million plus dead Iraqis is a terrorist. In Limbaugh’s world, anyone who concludes that bombing the living hell out of a country might make the people there hate us is a terrorist.
Limbaugh is right, anyone who isn’t for spending trillions of dollars on building and maintaining thousands of military bases overseas, while bankrupting the US, is a dangerous threat to the nation.

“That is why my ‘Plan to Restore America,’ in additional to cutting $1 trillion dollars in federal spending in one year, eliminates the TSA.

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul was briefly detained this morning after a standoff incident with TSA officers In Nashville.
In a telephone interview with AP, Rand Paul confirmed that an “anomaly” on his knee was picked up by a full body scanner. Paul said he asked for another scan, but the TSA insisted he submit to a pat down by airport security.
After refusing the pat-down, Paul said he was then “detained” in a small cubicle and consequently missed a flight to Washington for a Senate session. Paul was also due to speak at the March for Life later today in DC.
He also said that the incident highlights how the TSA should not be “spending so much time with people who wouldn’t attack us.”
The story broke when Paul’s communications director tweeted that the Senator was asked to walk through a full body scanner and set off an alarm “on a glitch”.
The Paul staffer wrote “Just got a call from @senrandpaul. He’s currently being detained by TSA in Nashville.”
“I spoke with him five minutes ago and he was being detained indefinitely,” Paul staffer Moira Bagley elaborated Monday morning. “The image scan went off, he refused patdown.”

Video has emerged of Russian pro Democracy protesters being watched by hovering surveillance drones overhead.
25,000 people gathered in Bolotnaya Square in Moscow Saturday, were stunned to witness the strange hovering object directly above them. Some climbed trees to take pictures and get a closer look at the “UFO”.
The craft is clearly some kind of small quadricopter drone similar to the one pictured below:

These drones can be controlled via a touch screen interface and the video can be transmitted in real time via wireless modem or Wi-Fi to 3 km by iPhone, iPad connected to the network, laptop or a similar device.

Federal government officials have begun pouring over data from Wednesday’s Emergency Alert System test, in an effort to discover what went wrong in many areas of the country and how complete control of the nation’s airwaves can be achieved.
During the thirty second test, many cable and broadcast television viewers saw only a blank screen. Radio stations are said to have experienced dead air, while DirectTV customers bizarrely heard Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” playing in the background. Comcast subscribers reported that their TVs switched to the QVC home shopping network automatically.

CNBC pulled an online poll 25 minutes after last night’s GOP debate, reasoning that “one candidate” was leading by a large margin – that candidate was, of course, Ron Paul.
As the following video shows, Ron Paul was ahead of the pack by a large margin, before the poll was unceremoniously pulled from the CNBC site altogether and replaced with a generic article titled “Who won the debate – Attendees weigh in”:
CNBC Managing Editor Allen Wastler issued the following statement explaining the reason the poll was removed:

We had a poll up from our Republican Presidential Debate asking readers who they thought won. One candidate was leading by such a margin that it became obvious the polling wasn’t so much a reading of our audience, but of the Internet prowess of this particular candidate’s political organization. We have therefore taken the poll down. Yes, we’ve gone through this exercise before.
Wastler included a link to a previous statement from 2007, where exactly the same thing happened.

Over Forty Years ago the right to peacefully assemble and protest In America was fatally wounded and has been under attack ever since. The Kent State Massacre in May 1970 went down in history as a dark day for freedom of speech as four student protesters were shot dead by National Guard troops.
A small dedicated group continues to press to expose the truth regarding what really happened that day. Now more new evidence has emerged suggesting that the FBI were using provocateurs to incite the violence.
Newly uncovered video footage from the incident shows that a suspected FBI informant, who fired gunshots before the National Guard opened fire, ran to the safety of police and immediately handed over the gun.

UN Warns Of Sharp Increase In Social Unrest
A prominent UN agency has issued a warning that the globe is hurtling toward a long recession, a 40 million worldwide job shortage and an increase in large scale social unrest.
In a report published today, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) warns that the world faces an imminent “dramatic downturn” in employment and urges the G20 to act to “soften the impact”.
Outlining that the globe faces a “new and deeper jobs recession”, the report, titled World of Work Report 2011: Making Markets Work for Jobs, warns that job creation is slowing and worldwide unemployment stands at a record of more than 200m.
“We estimate that for the next two years, the world economy would need 80 million jobs to bring the unemployment rate down to what it was before the crisis” in 2007, said Raymond Torres, who heads the ILO’s research institute.
Adding that the “world economy would create just 40 million jobs,” in that time, the report estimates that at current trend levels it will take at least five years to return employment in advanced economies to pre-crisis levels.

In response to a Freedom of Information Act Lawsuit, the Department of Homeland security, headed by ‘Big Sis’ Janet Napolitano, has released just a handful of pages of documents pertaining to the use of mobile naked body scanners, half of which are completely redacted.
The documents were obtained by the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) as part of it’s lawsuit to uncover details of a secretive program to install radiation firing naked body scanners in all manner of public places, beyond the nation’s airports, in surface transit and even street-roving vans.
The DHS wrote EPIC on August 8, stating “After further reviews we have determined that some documents that were originally withheld in full will be partially released to you.”
The new documents reveal nothing new at all, however, with entire pages having been blacked out by the agency.
The DHS invokes several FOIA exemption clauses, ironically including one that cites “invasion of personal privacy”.
“The privacy interests of the individuals in the records you have requested outweigh any minimal public interest in disclosure of the information.” the DHS writes.

As the resurrected TSA anti-groping bill cleared the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence, and gathered enough support to pass both chambers, Texas state officials have recounted disturbing stories that highlight how the TSA is using forceful pat-downs as a form of “punishment” to those who opt out of the full body scanners.
“Let me put this delicately. I was still feeling the effects of the pat-down as I sat in my seat from New Orleans to Houston, and then Houston to Austin.” Chairman of the Texas Public Utilities Commission Barry Smitherman told Fox 7 News.
Smitherman described the groping as “aggressive” and recounted an admission by a TSA supervisor that he was being “punished” for opting out.
Texas State Rep. Barbara Nash also told Fox 7 that a TSA agent “moved my legs apart and went up my legs, all the way up, and then she made me stand a different way where she could go all the way up the front., and then all the way up the back of my dress.”……………………

The TSA has issued a laughable response to the news that the state of Texas has passed a bill to officially make it a misdemeanor to pat-down breasts, buttocks, or genitals.
The Agency contends, via its blog, that Texas cannot do anything to restrict TSA procedures because, as a federal agency it is protected under the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution.
“Blogger Bob”, the TSA’s propaganda mouthpiece, writes:
“What’s our take on the Texas House of Representatives voting to ban the current TSA pat-down? Well, the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution (Article. VI. Clause 2) prevents states from regulating the federal government.”
How ridiculous

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has hit out at politicians and those in the media that have attempted to use the tragic shooting in Arizona as a political point scoring exercise.
Appearing on Freedom Watch with Andrew Napolitano, Paul referred to the former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel’s notorious assertion [2] “you never want a serious crisis go to waste”.
Speaking of pundits and politicians who have outright blamed the killing spree on political discourse and sought to introduce legislation to curb such rhetoric, the Senator stated:
“Well, these are the kind of things that I think some on the left decided to manufacture even before the events occur. I mean, this is part of the playbook of Rahm Emanuel where they say any crisis should be used to their advantage to further their agenda.”
“The people who politicize this really ought to be ashamed of themselves.” Paul added.
“I think it also does a disservice to those who died, to Judge Roll, who died, to representative Giffords. It’s a disservice to them that all of a sudden this tragedy that involves them in a very personal way, and their families, is being discounted so people on the other side of the political spectrum can make political points.”
“Can you imagine what it would have been like had there been any truth to the fact that this young man had any political beliefs or agenda and wasn’t crazy?” Senator Paul urged.
“But as it turns out, as you said in your piece that you led into, is that apparently the young man had no political motivations, and what I’ve read of his writings, it seemed that he was losing his grip with reality.”
“It’s about the age when we begin to see paranoid schizophrenia erupt, and in all likelihood, this man was criminally insane.”
“I’m not surprised that they do it,” Paul said of the attacks on rhetoric. “I do think they should be ashamed of themselves for doing it and [it] really just has no place in this discussion.”

An intriguing video has appeared on You Tube that appears to show a FDNY film crew being interviewed in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks by the the director of the FBI’s New York office, who has suspicions that one of the World Trade Center towers took a “secondary hit” before collapsing.
The video appears to be part of NIST’s recent FOIA releases and therefore has not been seen before now.
On first viewing it appears to be nothing special, just the horribly familiar scenes of dust and rubble from the aftermath of the attacks. However, it contains a stunning exchange between officials and firefighters.
The action appears to be taking place immediately after the collapse of the South tower and before the collapse of the North tower.
The film crew exits a building and make their way along the dust and debris littered streets.
At around 2 mins 50, a man in a suit approaches the crew and announces himself as “FBI, Barry Mawn.”
Mawn (pictured below with Rudy Giuliani) was at that time the director of the FBI’s New York office.
Mawn then asks the FDNY crew a question in the form of a statement – “That tower got a secondary hit?”
The firefighters respond by saying they are unsure but they heard a rumbling and ran for their lives as the tower then collapsed.
The audio is difficult to hear but one of the firefighters then says he “saw it blow right out the side of the building” to which Mawn asks “that was the plane right?”.
The firefighter then states “I don’t know if it was a plane or an explosion.”
As they continue their description of events the noise of a jet overhead interrupts them as people begin to panic. Someone, presumably another FBI agent shouts “is that ours?” to which Mawn replies “yeah that should be ours”.
At this point a large gathering of suited individuals walks into view and a woman in the group yells “go to city hall.”
