Napolitano on IRS Scandal: ’1st Amendment Was Written to Prevent This’… “”The only remedy is political: kick them and their bosses out of office.”" | Fox News Insider
Judge Andrew Napolitano weighed in this morning on Fox and Friends on the scandal involving the IRS‘s targeting of conservative political groups, like the Tea Party.
The IRS admitted last week after years of pressure from conservative watchdog groups that it had in fact been singling out right-wing organizations for extra scrutiny of their applications for tax-exempt status.
The judge said the IRS’s actions appear to be a clear violation of the First Amendment.
(GyG: AS ALWAYS, SEE READER RESPONSES !!!!!) Why Did IRS Target Conservative Groups? Was it legitimate reaction to tax-exempt electioneering?

Kevin Drum outlines what I take to be the emerging case for the defense of the IRS agents who applied special scrutiny to tax-exemption applications from Tea Party groups:
Roughly speaking, what seems to have happened is that three years ago the IRS was facing an explosion of newly formed 501(c)4 groups claiming tax exempt status, something that’s legal only for groups that are primarily engaged in promoting education or social welfare, not electioneering. So some folks in the Cincinnati office tried to come up with a quick filter to flag groups that deserved extra scrutiny.
But what should that flag be? Well, three years ago the explosion happened to be among tea party groups, so they began searching their database “for applications with ‘Tea Party,’ ‘Patriots,’ or ’9/12′ in the organization’s name as well as other ‘political sounding’ names.” This was dumb, and when senior leaders found out about it, they put a quick stop to it . . .

The IRS not only targeted conservative Tea Party groups and Jews… They also targeted conservative groups that taught the US
Constitution.
The Washington Post reported:

On Jan. 15, 2012 the agency decided to target “political action type organizations involved in limiting/expanding Government, educating on the Constitution and Bill of Rights, social economic reform movement.,” according to the appendix in the IG report, which was requested by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and has yet to be released.

On Thursday, February 14, 2013, Senator Lamar Alexander, Republican from Tennessee, joined fellow lawmakers in reintroducing a bill that would allow all states to require online retailers to collect sales tax just like their “Main Street” rivals.
The idea isn’t a new one. However, a 1992 Supreme Court decision stated that a business must have a physical presence within the state in order for the state to collect sales tax when someone purchases from that business.

Yep, Sen. Rand Paul – some Libertarian leanings and all – (and not all bad, either, especially with his middle of the road approach on foreign policy, him being neither interventionist nor isolationist) is certainly not a shill for the GOP-e… and we have had enough of that.
Constitution Worship Revisited: I’m Still Fed Up…! by Gary D. Barnett… “I always wonder not only have any of these people ever read and studied the constitution, but also do they even understand why it was secretly drafted in the first place?”
Last year I wrote an article titled “I’m Fed Up With Constitution Worship!” Since that time it seems, I hear more and more every day about “getting back to the constitution,” mainly from “conservatives” and those of the Tea Party persuasion.
I always wonder not only have any of these people ever read and studied the constitution, but also do they even understand why it was secretly drafted in the first place? All indications show that they aren’t at all familiar with the enabling power of that document to create a strong central governing system that reduced severely the sovereignty of the states.

I am sure many of you can and will relate to what I am about to write. After the election, I was in a bad mood. I still wonder why we were not able to get out our vote and carry the day on November 6. I am finding it amusing to watch the professional pundits as they toss around ideas about how and where the Republican Party needs to change. Bill Kristol seems to believe we have to concede the ground on taxes and allow them to be raised on millionaires.

The noes clearly had it, but the party bosses gaveled the dissenters down, shutting off the microphones and ignoring cries of “Roll call! Roll call!”
Yesterday, the Republican National Committee in Tampa adopted some rules changes that shift power from the state parties and the grassroots to the RNC and the GOP presidential nominee. Former Governor John Sununu of New Hampshiretouted the new rules as providing “a strong governing framework” for the party over the next four years.
But in fact the the new rules should be very troubling and disappointing to conservative grassroots activists, because they move the national
Republican Party away from being a decentralized, bottom-up party toward becoming a centralized, top-down party.

That’s it. You can shut down the convention right now.
It’s over. Romney’s camp just shut down all dissent, and they rigged it that way. Twitter is awash in angry tweets from people who know this was a sham. John Boehner actually wielded the gavel without a hint of a tear as he said “the ayes have it.”
They didn’t have it, and I think it was pretty clear that even if they did, this was a set-up. I have news for the GOP establishment. I am voting in November. I will vote for all the down-ballot candidates who are worthy of my support. I am not going to vote for Mitt Romney. Read more…

Let me briefly, as I understand this, tell you what’s going on. There was an attempt, by the rules committee yesterday, to change the rules of the convention in determining who the delegates to the convention are from the various states and to strip away all of the BS.

A retired U.S. Army colonel who now teaches modern warfare to soldiers at the University of Foreign Military and Cultural Studies at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. has co-written an article with a Civil War expert that has ignited a firestorm today among those increasingly concerned about what some say is a distinct anti-civilian tone that has infected much of the military and Homeland Security since 2009.

Did the mother fear something happened to her son? The media again conveniently left off the “I am his mother,” which suggested the mother may have been fearful something of this nature would happen.

The paper, entitled Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland: A “Vision” of the Future, was written by Kevin Benson and Jennifer Weber. Retired Colonel Benson, a seminar leader at the University of Foreign Military and Cultural Studies at Fort Leavenworth, also served with the 5th Infantry Division, the 1st Armored Division, the 1st Cavalry Division, the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, XVIII Airborne Corps and Third U.S. Army. The paper begins by emphasizing how the U.S. Army’s Operating Concept 2016-2028 dictates that the military’s “full spectrum operations” will include “operations within American borders.”

Last weekend, Representative Ron Paul’s (R-TX) supporters were disappointed to learn that the stalwart defender of constitutional government likely would not be placed in contention for the Republican Party’s official presidential nomination at national convention.

We’re all Wisconsiners today..
Last election cycle, voters in both Wisconsin and Ohio elected conservative governors committed to breaking the death-grip that unions held over state finances.
In the case of Wisconsin, the backlash took the form of a recall vote, which “backlashed” badly against the backlashers. Us Tea Party types got to spend last evening pleasantly musing as to exactly how the liberal media was going to spin this one.

Back in December 2007, best-selling author and Bilderberg sleuth Daniel Estulin told the Alex Jones Show that the U.S. intelligence establishment was considering assassinating Paul as a means of derailing the Ron Paul Revolution, which later gave rise to the Tea Party and spawned a generation of anti-big government grass roots activists……
It’s Time for Beltway Barnacle Orrin Hatch To Go
Liljenquist has never voted for federal tax hikes or massive entitlement spending or multibillion-dollar bailouts or serial debt-limit increases in Washington because he has never served in Washington. Never. Hatch, by contrast, has spent the last 36 years racking up a Big Government record that cannot be whitewashed away.
Outside the Beltway/Hatch fog machine, Liljenquist’s integrity and commitment to reining in runaway spending are unassailable. In state legislative policy circles, he’s known as the “Paul Ryan of Utah” — after the courageous and wonky Wisconsin Republican congressman who’s forcing kick-the-can politicians in both parties to reckon with welfare-state profligacy.
Liljenquist doesn’t just preach fiscal discipline or embrace it during election years.
