The Social Democratic Party, the precursor to the SPA, the Socialist Party of America, had several important figures in it. This old illustration from 1900 places the point very well:
Two of those 5, Frederic Heath and Eugene Debs, wrote something very interesting. In Heath’s “Social Democracy Red Book”, Page 41-42, Heath writes the following:
Laurence Gronlund has said that in 1880 he could count the native born American Socialists on the fingers of one hand. Had the foreign born residents suddenly left the country they would have practically taken Socialism with them. In 1880 Judge Thomas Hughes, the Christian Socialist, founded a profit-sharing, semi-communistic colony at New Rugby, in the Cumberland mountains of Tennessee, and delivered several lectures in the larger cities. A year later this colony had nearly 300 members and enjoyed a short-lived prosperity.

This group of World War II veterans took up arms to restore Rule of Law in the quaint east Tennessee town of Athens (McMinn County), between Chattanooga and Knoxville.

On Thursday, February 14, 2013, Senator Lamar Alexander, Republican from Tennessee, joined fellow lawmakers in reintroducing a bill that would allow all states to require online retailers to collect sales tax just like their “Main Street” rivals.
The idea isn’t a new one. However, a 1992 Supreme Court decision stated that a business must have a physical presence within the state in order for the state to collect sales tax when someone purchases from that business.

Senate President Pro Tem David Long said Indiana needs to take the lead in assembling a constitutional convention of the states in an effort to rein in the federal government’s power. Long’s effort aims to produce an amendment to the Untied States Constitution.
To amend the Constitution in a state-initiated way, two-thirds of state legislatures must agree to convene a constitutional convention, at which the amendment is drafted. Three-fourths of the states must then approve the amendment for it to be ratified.

The DHS had the audacity to call this assault “Operation Shield.” This sounds more like a name of a war operation in the Middle East than a raid on the elderly. This was done under the guise of a surprise drill with a mission to detect the “presence of unauthorized persons and potentially disruptive or dangerous activities.” None of these existed of course, but why should that matter to the DHS, the most abominable agency of the federal government. The real mission of the DHS is to intimidate and terrorize innocent people so as to habituate and control them. It will be necessary to break down the resistance of the citizenry, so that the people will not take aggressive action against the state when civil unrest becomes the norm, and Martial Law is implemented. Obviously the government plan is working. These DHS “checkpoints” are becoming far too common. What began just recently in Tennessee as a test has now spread to many other parts of this country. This was expected by those of us who understand the nature of the federal government’s aggression against freedom, but the speed at which it is progressing is dangerous. These checkpoints will continue to increase in number, and will continue to expand in area. The Republican National Committee has signed on to endorse a proposal by Irish rocker Bono to commit American taxpayers to spending $30 million to “eliminate global poverty.”
As if any amount of tax payer funds would actually accomplish that goal. What usually happens is the money extracted from us to fund these wealth transfers first fills the pockets of foreign fat cat dictators while barely a trickle ends up lining empty food bowls.
History has shown us socialism does not work. Countries laboring under the delusion that Utopia can be achieved by making sure all have ‘what they need’ necessitates that relatively few must labor to provide for all. Bono’s ill-advised scheme is socialism. The Republican Party has agreed to consign Americans to the same fate as other socialist countries with its recent endorsement of Bono’s global goody bag.
Bono, the mouthpiece for environmentalism, global wealth transfer and socialist policy in general owns several opulent mansions throughout the world and travels by jet. The four engine behemoth he flies (while admonishing you to drive a hybrid) gets about 3 miles per gallon. (So much for the imperiled ozone, the Kyoto treaty and greenhouse gasses.)

I had the privilege of seeing Roger Waters perform “The Wall” to a live crowd of over 40,000 fans at the LA Coliseum on Saturday night – the second time I’ve seen the show on this tour.

As a direct descendent of Tennessee Patriots who were veterans of every major conflict in defense of American Liberty from the American Revolution forward, I stand in awe of my home state’s distinguished list of Patriot sons and daughters. From 19th-century notables like Andrew Jackson*, Davy Crockett, Sam Houston, Nathan Bedford Forrest** and Sam Davis, to a long list of 20th-century Patriots headed by Alvin York, warriors from the “Volunteer State” have distinguished themselves in battle with honor and courage.

A Tennessee man was charged and jailed by police Friday after he used an old $50 bill to pay for goods at a at Quik Mart store.
“A clerk at Quik Mart, South Cannon Boulevard, notified police after the marker used to detect counterfeit bills didn’t check as real.” reports David Melson of the Shelbyville Times-Gazette.
“The front side of the bill was off center and it didn’t feel like a normal bill, it did look to be counterfeit,” officer Brock Horner said in his report.
The man, Lorenzo Gaspar was taken to jail by the officer, but was released after a sergeant noted that old bill are still legitimate legal tender but do not “check” with modern cash markers.
Two separate banks declared the bill to be real after studying it. Mr Gaspar was released from jail with an apology and told to change the note for a newer traceable one……………………

State and local resistance to the detention provisions contained in the National Defense Authorization Act continues to grow, rapidly emerging as a nationwide movement.
The Tennessee legislature will consider HB1629 and SB2669 in the 2012 session. The legislation would effectively nullify the detention provisions in the NDAA and would also require federal agents making an arrest in the Volunteer State for any reason to first obtain written permission from the county sheriff.This bill declares that any federal law purporting to require local or state law enforcement agencies to act at the direction of the federal government or the United States military is beyond the authority granted to the federal government pursuant to the United States Constitution, is not recognized by this state, is specifically rejected by this state and is declared to be invalid in this state.
This bill further declares that any federal law purporting to give federal agents or employees, including any members of the United States military, the authority of any state or local law enforcement agency of this state, without the express permission of this state, is beyond the authority granted to the federal government pursuant to the United States Constitution, is not recognized by this state, is specifically rejected by this state, and is declared to be invalid in this state.

SEWANEE, Tenn. — A signature in the Franklin County Courthouse and a mummy last seen in 1975 convinced two Tennessee men that John Wilkes Booth, the killer of Abraham Lincoln, escaped capture, traveled South and lived into the 20th century.
Now one of those men is hoping to use DNA evidence to prove it.
The other man, Arthur Ben Chitty, a historiographer at the University of the South who died in 2002, spent 40 years amassing anecdotal evidence that Mr. Booth married a Sewanee woman and lived there for a time, said his daughter Em Turner Chitty.
And there was one piece of physical evidence: the signature of “Jno. W. Booth” and his bride, Louisa J. Payne, recorded Feb. 24, 1872, in the marriage license records office of the Franklin County Courthouse.

Despite acknowledging there are “no credible or specific threats” to the safety of the 2012 Super Bowl in Indianapolis on Sunday, the TSA is training thousands of fast food sellers to spot terrorists under the “First Observer” program.
“TSA said over 8,000 stadium vendors, parking lot attendants, shuttle bus drivers, and other transportation professionals received the agency’s First Observer training for detecting and assessing indicators and planning tactics of potential terrorist activities,” reports Government Security News.
As we have previously reported, many of the behaviors characterized as potential signs of terrorism by the TSA in its training procedures are mundane activities performed by a majority of people, including using a video camera, talking to police officers, wearing hoodies, driving vans, writing on a piece of paper, and using a cell phone recording application.

The TSA has been responsible for over 9,000 unannounced “security checkpoints” over the last year alone, as the federal agency’s VIPR program expands to become a literal occupying army in the name of safety.
“The TSA’s 25 “viper” teams — for Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response — have run more than 9,300 unannounced checkpoints and other search operations in the last year. Department of Homeland Security officials have asked Congress for funding to add 12 more teams next year,” reports the L.A. Times.
The figure is completely independent from the federal agency’s role inside the nation’s airports, which costs taxpayers $5 billion a year, with the department having spent an additional $110 million in fiscal year 2011 for “surface transportation security,” while requesting a further $24 million for next year.
The extra money is being demanded despite the fact that there is “no proof that the roving viper teams have foiled any terrorist plots or thwarted any major threat to public safety,” according to the report, which also highlights how the TSA’s sniffer dogs are used to single out people for questioning if the dog smells the scent of the owner’s pets on their clothing.

Fed Interest in Food Storage Facility Connected to FEMA Executive Order 10999 food+storage column+systemOn Thursday, Stewart Rhodes of Oath Keepers posted a bulletin on the organization’s blog reporting on federal agents demanding a food storage cannery in Tennessee turn over customer lists so they might discover who is purchasing bulk storable foods and storing it at the facility owned by Mormons.
As Rhodes notes, it is part of Mormon Church religious doctrine to store food for hard times and emergencies. Church doctrine states that each family store a year’s worth of basic dry goods along with three months worth of store-bought canned and boxed foods. “These Church canneries also often sell food storage items to non-church members, seeing it as both morally right and prudent to help their neighbors store food, whatever their faith,” Rhodes explains.
He then speculates as to why the feds would demand customer lists. “DHS/FEMA wants to know which Americans have food storage so the federal government can at some future point confiscate that food. Just as with lists of gun owners, compiling such lists is the first step toward future confiscation,” he writes.
In fact, the government codified the concept of food confiscation and redistribution when president Kennedy issued Executive Order 10999 on February 16, 1962.
10999 was one of several executive orders signed by Kennedy under the rubric of “national emergency” that extended extrajudicial power to FEMA, including the ability to control communications, energy, food, fuel, farms, transportation, highways, railroads, inland waterways and seaports, health, education and welfare. The EO also allows FEMA to organize citizen work brigades under government control and undertake the relocation of the population.
10999 also gives FEMA the authority to control all public storage facilities.
On June 3, 1994, president Clinton consolidated all previous FEMA executive orders into one all-encompassing order, #12919.
As many have noted, FEMA is not an emergency agency. It is a martial law agency. It is often referred to as the “secret government” of the United States.
“It is not an elected body, it does not involve itself in public disclosures, and it even has a quasi-secret budget in the billions of dollars,” writes Harry V. Martin. “This government organization has more power than the President of the United States or the Congress, it has the power to suspend laws, move entire populations, arrest and detain citizens without a warrant and hold them without trial, it can seize property, food supplies, transportation systems, and can suspend the Constitution.”
If we take the above into consideration, it makes sense that the feds would be interested in keeping track of facilities storing food supplies.

Oath Keepers has learned that federal agents recently visited a Later Day Saints (Mormon) Church food storage cannery in Tennessee, demanding customer lists, wanting to know the identity of Americans who are purchasing food storage from the Mormons.
This incident was confirmed, in person, by Oath Keepers Tennessee Chapter President, Rand Cardwell. Here is Rand’s report:
“A fellow veteran contacted me concerning a new and disturbing development. He had been utilizing a Mormon cannery near his home to purchase bulk food supplies. The man that manages the facility related to him that federal agents had visited the facility and demanded a list of individuals that had been purchasing bulk food. The manager informed the agents that the facility kept no such records and that all transactions were conducted on a cash-and-carry basis. The agents pressed for any record of personal checks, credit card transactions, etc., but the manager could provide no such record. The agents appeared to become very agitated and after several minutes of questioning finally left with no information. I contacted the manager and personally confirmed this information.

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee church that gave a platform earlier this year to the Dutch politician who was barred from the U.K. for his view of Islam found itself in crosshairs once again when a conference billing itself as America’s first on countering the rise of Shariah was forced to find a new venue after threats of violence from Muslims caused its host hotel to cancel.
Organizers of yesterday’s Preserving Freedom Conference at Cornerstone Church in Madison, Tenn., say the decision by the management of the Hutton Hotel in Nashville just two weeks ago to cancel a binding contract because of intimidation by Muslims was a poignant illustration of the primary message of more than two dozen speakers.
“We are at the stage here of self-imposed Shariah law at the threat of violence,” conference Chairman William J. Murray of the Religious Freedom Coalition told a gathering of about 500.
Cornerstone Church was the venue for a speech in May by the controversial Geert Wilders in which he warned Americans not to “make the mistake which Europe made.”
“Do not allow Islam to gain a foothold here,” Wilders said. “Islam is dangerous. Islam wants to establish a state on earth, ruled by Islamic Shariah law. Islam aims for the submission, whether by persuasion, intimidation or violence, of all non-Muslims, including Christians.”
After yesterday’s conference, Cornerstone Church Senior Pastor Maury Davis told WND that churches, of all places, shouldn’t be shy about telling the truth in the face of resistance.

The effort by the Department of Homeland Security and the TSA to expand their operations from airports to state roads and beyond is being accepted by state and local governments around the country, according to AllGov.com, a website covering government activity.

The unconstitutional operations were not in response “to any particular threat,” but rather designed to act as “a visible deterrence and detection security presence across Tennessee.”
In other words, the operation was an effort to acclimate Tennesseans to militarized TSA units at checkpoints around the state.

…Odd: In one sense the Internet is highly democratizing, giving any teenager in Tennessee resources greater than those of the Library of Congress. It does this equally for a Cambodian teenager in Battambang. A bright youngster can learn almost anything with a cheap computer and broadband: mathematics, literature, languages.
Mission Creep: This Tennessee Highway Is Now Patrolled by TSA
Most air travelers now endure naked scans or genital pat-downs by gloved agents of the government without surprise or complaint. But before invasive security became normal, there was a backlash. And at its height, Transportation Security Administration boss John Pistole said something revealing.
“I see flying as a privilege that is a public safety issue. So the government has a role in providing for the public safety and we need to do everything we can in partnership with the traveling public, to inform them about what their options are,” he told reporters.
“I clearly believe that passengers have a number of options as they go through screening. But the bottom line is, if someone decides they don’t want to have screening, they don’t have the right to get on the plane.” What perturbed me wasn’t his defense of mandatory security screening. It was his assertion that air travel is a special “privilege” the feds grant citizens.
I felt the same uneasy twinge when Janet Napolitano, who heads the Department of Homeland Security, told USA Today that “if people want to travel by other means, they have that right.” Because where does that attitude end? Is it a “privilege” to attend the Super Bowl, where TSA agents scan the crowd for suspicious behavior? Or to ride on a Metro system, an Amtrak train, or a boat — other forms of transportation that Napolitano has mused about targeting?
As Mark Browning wrote in 2010, using hyperbole and reduction ad absurdum to mock Napolitano, “The bus system could come next. Come to think of it, so could travel by automobile… Here, we find that not only are the crevices of our bodies searched, but so are the contents of our cars. If you don’t like it, don’t drive. Nowhere in that living document, the Constitution, are we assured of our right to move without hindrance from point to point by private automobile.”
Of course, that would never really happen… would it?
In the local news report above, which my colleague James Fallows notes here, a Tennessee TV news broadcast reports that TSA is already operating on highways in the state. The brilliant reasoning? “Where is a terrorist more apt to be found? Not these days on an airplane more likely on the interstate,” said Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons. Perhaps he can be forgiven for this absurd quote. After all, his job is to keep Tennessee safe from terrorists. By definition he’s guarding against a remote threat. But it ought to make us all upset that the federal government assessed its counter-terrorism resources and decided that the best use of scarce funds would be random checks on vehicles on Tennessee highways.
Feel safer?
The TSA agents are urging all drivers to “say something” if they see something suspicious, which brings us to another great quote from the piece: “If somebody sees something somewhere, we want them to be responsible citizens,” says Paul Armes, TSA Federal Security Director. “Report that and let us work it through our processes to vet the concern they had when they saw something suspicious.” Granted, if I were driving (rather than traveling by train) to Chattanooga, and I saw an 18 wheeler with a “Death to America” bumper sticker and fertilizer spilling out the back, I’d call the cops; but if there were any actual terrorists on the highways of Tennessee, wouldn’t their explosive filled truck look, from the outside, like any other truck?
The last thing America needs is to let TSA and its absurd, security-theater loving bureaucrats out of the airport. Reports a local newspaper: “Larry Godwin, deputy commissioner of TDSHS, said the checks at the weigh stations were about showing the people of Tennessee the government is serious about transportation safety.” But quotes like that in fact show that they aren’t serious about transportation safety so much as the appearance of it.
I’d consent to beefing up airport security even more if it meant being able to keep TSA agents inside the terminal. The notion of random searches spreading everywhere in American life, whether you’re exercising the “privilege” of going to a sporting event or driving down the highway, amounts to an unconstitutional surrender to terrorism in places where we’ve never even been hit by it.

Currently, the state of Tennessee is acting as a testing ground for the federal government’s assault on the citizen’s right to privacy. TSA goons dressed in state sanctioned garb, and heavily armed “law enforcement” cretins with drug sniffing dogs, are harassing the people of Tennessee on interstate highways and bus stations. They are doing this of course all in the name of stopping terrorism. It is interesting how these state simpletons can at the same time terrorize the general populace while protecting them from terrorism.
The object of this charade of course is not to stop terrorism, but to intimidate (terrorize) the people, and to habituate them, so that they will come to expect and accept this kind of treatment in order to be “safe.” This indoctrination training by the state is meant only to beat down the individual into submission, so that state thugs can gain more control. This is not a new concept, but in the U.S. today, police state abuses are not only greatly increasing in numbers, but also are becoming more invasive as every day passes.
The mainstream media claims that Tennessee is the first state to fight terrorism statewide, but illegal checkpoints are now being set up all across the country. The DHS now claims the right to stop and harass anyone, ask for their “papers,” and search them within 100 miles of any U.S. border. This invasive and illegitimate nonsense affects over 190 million citizens, or about two thirds of the entire population. The very abusive conduct by these agents of the state is not restricted to Tennessee, it is evident nationwide. Checkpoints are everywhere it seems, and the numbers are increasing.

Cain Says His Deadly Fence Plan Was ‘a Joke’
At two campaign rallies in Tennessee on Saturday night, the Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said that part of his immigration policy would be to build an electrified fence on the country’s border with Mexico that could kill people trying to enter the country illegally.
But by Sunday morning, in a dramatic change of tone, Mr. Cain, a former restaurant executive, said he was only kidding.
“That’s a joke,” Mr. Cain told the journalist David Gregory during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” where he was asked about the electrified fence. “That’s not a serious plan. I’ve also said America needs to get a sense of humor.”
Mr. Cain’s attempt to pass off incendiary comments as nothing but a joke may take more effort, however. In making the initial remarks about an electrified fence killing illegal immigrants, Mr. Cain was detailed and repetitive. He did not introduce his thoughts as anything but serious commentary, beginning with the words, “We have a crisis of illegal immigration.”
And the crowds responded with cheers, not laughs.

Walter Francis Fitzpatrick, III has been exposing judicial corruption in Monroe County, TN for more than two years. Law enforcement’s response has been, “Live with it!”
(Oct. 3, 2011) — The Post & Email received a report last evening at approximately 5:35 p.m. EDT that LCDR Walter Fitzpatrick, who was arrested following a sentencing hearing on September 23, 2011, is being kept in solitary confinement and has been denied mail and the ability to make telephone calls.
Numbers for contacts in Tennessee and at the federal level can be found in Neil Turner’s article dated September 30, 2011.
Are there veterans or patriotic citizen groups in eastern Tennessee willing to take action on the reported civil rights violations taking place against Fitzpatrick and others in the Monroe County jail? Is there an Oathkeepers organization in that area willing to step forward and speak out? Is anyone in Monroe County willing to challenge the judges, sheriff’s department, and complicit court personnel about their criminal behavior?
Is there an attorney who specializes in RICO, civil rights deprivation, or violation of the Fifth Amendment willing to take on the law-breakers in Monroe County?
Or is everyone simply too afraid, the way people were in the Soviet Union?
If so, then it appears that life there will not change…………..

Is the Monroe County courthouse running a criminal enterprise to enrich those running the shadow government there?
(Sep. 29, 2011) — Several readers of The Post & Email have confirmed that Walter Fitzpatrick has been returned to the Monroe County, TN jail. Fitzpatrick was arrested when he walked out of his sentencing hearing on September 23, 2011 after reading a statement which claimed that the court had no jurisdiction over him.
The phone number to inquire about his well-being and treatment at the jail is 423-442-3911. However, Monroe County sheriff’s deputies have been known to lie. The address where letters can be sent is here.
The Post & Email has contacted Gov. Bill Haslam‘s office, the Speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives, State Sen. Stacey Campfield, State Sen. Mae Beavers, and Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey’s office. None of them has responded to our request to investigate corruption within the judiciary in Monroe County and greater Tennessee.
We contacted the Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts regarding Gary Pettway, who served as a rubber-stamp grand jury foreman for at least 27 years without having been duly appointed or sworn in but received no response…………………
