In order to more fully understand, and discuss, either The D.I. or Full Metal Jacket FMJ, I think, that information regarding that well known event in 1956 that preceded the making of the movie, The D.I. is in order.
Thus, I have provided information regarding The Ribbon Creek Incident above to include my message board posts from Marines of Platoon #71, and others with information relating to that event.Marines have always argued among themselves as to how much tougher and better, etc. things were in “The Old Corps”!
Nobody has recorded when this first began–best bet is 1775. When will it end? I would say, not as long as there is yet one Marine still standing! And such it was and has been since one night in 1956 when something now referred to as The Ribbon Creek Incident occurred. Because of that, new arguments as to whether “boot camp” is as tough as it once was, or tougher, have gone on and on without ceasing.

The mass drugging of US troops is one of the most underreported scandals of the modern era, with soldiers not only being used as guinea pigs in a brave new world of pharmacological experimentation, but also having their rights stripped as a result.
Sgt. Joe Biggs recently joined the Alex Jones Show to describe in shocking details how he witnessed soldiers in Afghanistan displaying careless ignorance of the threat posed by IED’s because the troops were high on Percocet, a prescription painkiller based on oxycodone, a Schedule II narcotic analgesic which is derived from opium.

Many in U.S. Army are secret members of Anonymous; more leaks are coming

Anonymous in L.A.
The group-name “Anonymous” refers to a loosely associated, decentralized network of hacktivists – political activists who hack into secured websites, then leak the information free to the public.
The group originated in 2003 on the Internet forum 4chan, representing the concept of many online and offline community users simultaneously existing as an anarchic, digitized global brain. The group became known for a series of well-publicized hacks and denial-of-service attacks on government, religious, and corporate websites, including U.S. and Israeli government agencies, the Church of Scientology, child porn sites, PayPal, Mastercard, Visa, and military contractors.
Col David Hackworth Ret Calls Rumsfeld An ‘Asshole’ The War According To David Hackworth… “”Pistols suck,” wrote one soldier. “Bring and use every weapon. Shotguns are great at close ranges.” At a time when soldiers have been disciplined for griping to the media, Hackworth is providing a fascinating outlet for what they’re really experiencing. Among the more evocative messages:”
…..Retired U.S. Army Col. David Hackworth is a cocky American military commander who for half a century was at the front lines of the Army’s most important battles. Most recently, though, Hackworth has been at the front lines of a domestic war: the debate over U.S. military strategy in Iraq, and whether the Bush administration planned well enough to achieve a decisive military victory and keep the postwar peace.
Hackworth was everywhere on cable television during the first days of the war, when early military setbacks convinced him and other retired military leaders that the administration, whose backers sold the conflict as a “cakewalk,” hadn’t sent enough troops to quell Iraqi resistance. He wrote a widely quoted column headlined “Stuck in the Quicksand” in early April — just as the tide seemed to turn and the pace of victory picked up again.
Bad Sam – Conspiracy Theories with a ring of truth to them… Re General George Patton… “At the end of the war Patton was in fact the highest ranking officer in the US Military. In peacetime the Armed Forces would fall under the authority of Patton. Eisenhower didn’t relish having Patton giving him orders.”
…..Rank: Eisenhower had outranked Patton during war, having been appointed Supreme Commander.
At the end of the war Patton was in fact the highest ranking officer in the US Military. In peacetime the Armed Forces would fall under the authority of Patton. Eisenhower didn’t relish having Patton giving him orders.
There was widespread talk at home of Patton for President. This was bad news for the Democrats, because they had no comparable opponent. It was not good news for the Republicans though, because Patton was considered too stubborn and iron-willed to take orders from Wall Street and professional politicians. Thus, many factions viewed Patton as a threat.
Who Are The Suspects In The Death of General Patton?
The Russians were in great dread of Patton, wondering whether he would continue to wage war and cross through their lines. They remained on “alert status” until his death. Patton wrote to his wife and others that when he returned to the US he was planning to retire from the Army and try his hand a politics as a Republican. No doubt he would have reported the Russian kidnapping of 25,000 American troops, and would have taken action. The full story of these lost men only started to emerge in the 1970s, and has been documented since the fall of the USSR.

Congressional inquiry into the Department of Homeland Security’s huge ammunition acquisitions spurred agency officials to try to explain what is going on. At current inventory levels, DHS has four to five times as many bullets for its officers as the US Army has for our troops.
DHS training officer Humberto Medina pointed out that “the Army faces known enemies in numbers far smaller than we have to consider. I mean, Afghanistan’s population is tiny compared to that of the United States. And the Army can supplement with aerial and artillery bombardment. We don’t have that capacity at this time.”
Medina also suggested that “Army troops are better trained and more accurate shooters than the majority of those we’ve recruited for Homeland Security. So it stands to reason that we’d need to fire more rounds to hit any given target, whether it be in a training exercise or, heaven forbid, suppressing an insurrection. In a nation with over 300 million potential enemies an inventory of billions of bullets doesn’t seem unreasonable to me.”

The Pentagon’s War on Religion « Coach is Right… “…the politically correct goons in the Department of defense are working to silence any opposition to the Gay Agenda. Military Chaplains are being silenced. (4) Soldiers are being taught to equate Christians with extremists and racists…”
by Jim Emerson, staff writer
With the repeal of the Clinton era “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy allowing gays to quietly serve in America’s armed forces, the politically correct goons in the Department of defense are working to silence any opposition to the Gay Agenda. Military Chaplains are being silenced. (4) Soldiers are being taught to equate Christians with extremists and racists who preach violence against non-believers. (2)
The Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty sent a letter to the House Armed Services Committee warning that Military Chaplains are being threatened by higher brass to keep quiet about their opposition to Homosexual Marriages. The organization has pointed out that in some cases Chaplain’s military careers have been damaged and at least one man of the cloth was told to resign. Despite denial from a Pentagon Spokesman, the reality of Chaplains in the field proves otherwise. After all, the Commander in Chief opposes any freedom of religion protections for chaplains or troops. (5)

Monday, 08 April 2013 09:48 Christians Are Extremists Like al-Qaeda, U.S. Army Taught Troops Written by Alex Newman
The Obama administration’s Department of Defense was caught training U.S. troops that Catholics, orthodox Jews, and evangelical Christians are to be considered “religious extremists,” even equating the major religions representing more than half of Americans with truly violent groups such as al-Qaeda, the Ku Klux Klan, and Hamas.
After the explosive revelations hit the headlines, outrage promptly ensued. Now, critics are calling for an immediate public apology to the soldiers exposed to the hateful propaganda, as well as to the Christian and Jewish communities targeted in the presentation.
Whatever the US Government Is Planning, It Is Already Practicing by Bill Sardi… “The US Marines already had a biological response team named “America’s 911 Response Force,” a name for this military unit that was coined a year prior to the events that unfolded on 9-11-2001. This same unit of 350 US Marines practiced handling a crisis on the streets of New York City on September 11, 1998″
One thing we have learned since 9-11 is that government agencies practice whatever schemes they have in mind before they occur. Take for instance the events that took place prior to the attack on the Twin Towers in New York on 9-11-2001.
The US Marines already had a biological response team named “America’s 911 Response Force,” a name for this military unit that was coined a year prior to the events that unfolded on 9-11-2001. This same unit of 350 US Marines practiced handling a crisis on the streets of New York City on September 11, 1998. The drill even included handling the unexpected collapse of the World Trade Center towers. Believe it or not, this US Marine force even had a patch on their uniforms showing the World Trade Center twin towers!
So skip forward to the present time with me. I read a disturbing report in the Daily Mail, a UK publication. Martin Dempsey, the Army general who’s now chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was a division commander when he got to Baghdad in 2003 and climbed into a Humvee for his first trip off base. “I asked the driver … who he was (and) where he was from,” the general remembers, “and I slapped the turret gunner around the leg and I said, ‘Who are you?’ And she leaned down and said, ‘I’m Amanda.’
“And I said, ‘Ah, OK.’ So female turret gunner protecting division commander.”
One of the things that makes a good commander is the speed with which he can adjust to changed conditions, and the general had just been introduced to another reality of the ever-new U.S. Army.
The general told that story the other day as he stood next to the country’s secretary of defense to formally lift the Army’s ban on women in combat units. No, not every woman — or man — may be fit for combat, but now every trooper has a chance to qualify for it. Which is as it should be — at last.

Why US Air Corps Servicemen Were Allowed to Wear Such Badass Bomber Jackets in World War II

Badass Bomber Jacket – World War II
In honor of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, Lisa Hix of Collectors Weekly has put together a fascinating and sobering article that both commemorates and explains why members of the US Army Air Corp were allowed to customize their bomber jackets to such outlandish and extreme degrees.
The Army, not known for its lax uniform standards, allowed their air-bound servicemen to decorate their jackets with pictures of scantily clad pin-up girls, favorite comic characters, lucky charms, and any other assortment of icons. The reason, says historian John Conway, may have something to do with the age of these soliders — but also the tremendous risks they had to endure………….

“Gen. George S. Patton, Jr. would have flown into a rage and fired them on the spot. Yet both men went on to four stars…Was General David Petraeus the heroic figure his press releases suggested or a piece of fiction created, packaged and presented to the American people by the Bush Administration and its Neocon allies in the media and academia as the poster boy for counterinsurgency?”
Hint: You do not get to be a general in today’s military by being a warrior (like George Patton). You get to be a general in today’s military by being a sycophant (what us country boys call an “ass kisser”) and a politician.
And Col. MacGregor seems to agree. He puts it this way:
“The contemporary American military is not led by a Roman or Prussian class of hardened professionals. On the contrary, for the most part, the senior leadership is really an overgrown bureaucracy committed to jobs for generals. But these bureaucrats in uniform have gone too far. They are now responsible for the extraordinary loss of American blood, treasure, as well as, strategic ground in Iraq and Afghanistan at a point in time when the American people just cannot afford it.”

When Major General David H. Petraeus, commander of the 101st Airborne Division met Lieutenant General William Wallace, commander of the U.S. Army’s V Corps on 27 March 2003 at a site near Najaf, only five days after American forces began the attack to Baghdad Petraeus and Wallace were deeply pessimistic. They concluded, “The war was in dismal shape.” Petraeus, an officer who had risen to Major General and Division Command with no previous combat experience, was deeply worried about the level of Iraqi resistance.
The fact that 3rd Infantry Division (mechanized), an armored force of hundreds of tanks and armored fighting vehicles was already 50 miles south of Baghdad and poised to attack the city did not seem to matter. Gen. George S. Patton, Jr. would have flown into a rage and fired them on the spot. Yet both men went on to four stars.
Was General David Petraeus the heroic figure his press releases suggested or a piece of fiction created, packaged and presented to the American people by the Bush Administration and its Neocon allies in the media and academia as the poster boy for counterinsurgency? Was he simply a world class aid de camp, military assistant and speech writer, a slick briefer who successfully cultivated dozens of Army four stars and political appointees on the ladder to four stars? Or is Petraeus simply the victim of his own press releases?
