It has oft been said that Americans’ love of independence and freedom is best represented by their relationship with their automobiles.

 

Gubmint very well recognizes this and hates it!!!!! It is an affront to their royal, totalitarian attitude.

Soon, driving (one of our last freedoms) will go the way of the old west cowboys and the more recent truly independent truckers.

You’re going to love – or dread – this.Vehicle to Vehicle communication – V2V, as its designers style it – is a system that will – that already is – automating new cars. Rendering them driverless. Putting the car in charge. Well, putting a wireless network in charge, that is. Of the cars – and the drivers. Who will shortly cease to exist – becoming curiosities of a bygone time, like railroad conductors.

Yet another Big Brother measure that is contained deep within the bill appears in Section 53006 – the “Vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications systems deployment.”

‘(a) In General- Not later than 3 years after the date of enactment of this section, the Secretary shall submit a report to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate, the Committee on Environment and Public Works of the Senate, the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives, and the Committee on Energy and Commerce of the House of Representatives that–

‘(1) defines a recommended implementation path for dedicated short-range communications technology and applications;
