Why the Obsession With Flight 370? – LewRockwell.com

Before anyone jumps to the conclusion that I am insensitive to the fate of the 239 persons aboard Malaysian Airlines Flight 370, and to their families and friends, let me assure you that I empathize as much as others with the suffering inflicted upon these people. But there is something more significant about the presumed deaths of these 239 persons.

Why World War II Vets?….. “Commentators drew the ironic and sad comparison that the President was far more concerned about “guarding” this open air area, than he had been in sending guards to rescue Ambassador Stevens the night of the attacks in Benghazi. And only in an upside down universe like an Obama administration would anyone ever believe that the World War II memorial needed “guarding” from World War II veterans to begin with. Among the topics I’ve broached in recent years of broadcasts, none have riled the irritation level of the listeners to my 900+ affiliates anywhere equal to the Obama administration’s specific targeting of World War II veterans as payback in the debate over the shutdown. “

In multiple statements to the press NPS spokespeople made it clear that they were directly instructed by the White House specifically to shut the memorial that had previously never been closed.

News blogger Jan Morgan reported today at her janmorganmedia.com site that U.S. Air Force veteran Julie Frein offered her spot at the cemetery for the burial of the older Tsarnaev brother, who was killed in the firefight with law enforcement a few days after the bombing.

What Else is New?

April 4, 2013

For a country always at war, the United States is remarkably not interested in taking care of soldiers it has broken in its wars. Having bankrupted the country, Washington sinks every available penny into the two purposes of the military: funneling money into the arms industry, and fueling imperial ambitions, in large part of pasty fern-bar Napoleons at National Review and Commentary.

The Veterans Administration is way back in the chow line. It doesn’t work very well. As best I can tell, nobody cares.

What do I mean, it doesn’t work? Consider a vet blinded or nearly so in some war or other. To use a computer, which has come to be necessary life, he needs screen-reader software, such as JAWS.

Fred Reed

It costs roughly a thousand dollars retail. For a blinded vet, most likely of slight education and no resources beyond his VA compensation, this is a lot of money.

War veterans in New Rochelle are protesting the city’s order for the so-called Gadsden flag to be taken down from its post outside the armory.

A symbol of pride for the veterans, the flag features a rattlesnake and the words, “Don’t tread on me.”

“That flag is the first flag of the Continetal Navy,” said Peter Parente, president of the United Veterans Memorial. He helped hoist the flag up on March 21 during a ceremony to swap out the tattered American flag.

March 27, 2013 60 comments

EXCERPT!!!!!…..

big

big (Photo credit: GunnyG1345)

Who is eligible for military honors at a funeral? According to the program’s website, virtually all veterans who have received an honorable discharge are eligible. A veteran does not have to be buried at a national cemetery to receive military honors. The honors teams travel to private cemeteries.

Since the program began in Missouri in 1999, more than 114,000 veterans have received these honors. The program has been averaging 729 funerals a month.

According to the program’s website, it is funded by the federal government and the Missouri National Guard Trust Fund.

Both the federal government and the state government are broke. So why are we providing military funeral honors for all veterans? It is a nice gesture we can’t afford.

gophum

gophum (Photo credit: GunnyG1345)

Certainly, men and women killed in combat deserve full military honors. It’s a way for the country to say, “We honor the memory of those who died in our service.” These military honors — and the thought behind them — are intended to provide some solace for the families of the fallen.

Marines Need Funds to Publish Non-Fiction Book… | Veterans Today

March 6, 2013 Leave a comment

Story of murder, narcotrafficing and environmental contamination written by two Marine veterans IRVINE, CA and CAMP LEJEUNE, NC – Marine Colonel Jim Sabow placed his television on mute, arose from his easy chair, and left his house on Fifth Street at Marine Corps Air Station El Toro through the patio door.

big

big (Photo credit: GunnyG1345)

He walked the length of the patio, called the dogs, which were in the back yard and enclosed them in the garage. This was a practice he routinely followed when visitors were expected. Whether he opened the front door to greet his visitors or went out the back door onto his patio is not known, but we do know that he had only moments to live.

Colonel Sabow, decorated Vietnam fighter with 221 combat missions, met his death at the hands of others.

The unexpected blow to the right side of the head was violent, resulting in unconsciousness. Occipital skull fragments penetrated into the back of his brain. He was near death due to the massive brainstem trauma in which agonal hyperventilation characteristic of this type of injury occurs. Sabow was aspirating blood from a wound in his pharynx that resulted from a basilar skull fracture. In fact, the tracheae, bronchi, bronchioles and alveoli were filled with blood, doubling the weight of the right lung. His shotgun was found under his body. No fingerprints on the shotgun. No suicide note.

gophum

gophum (Photo credit: GunnyG1345)

There was no mention of the tramline bruise, an indicator of the violent blow to his head, in the autopsy report or the crime scene tampering by three men who flashed government credentials, forcing Naval Investigative Service NIS agents to leave the crime scene. The motive for the murder was to prevent the disclosure of a covert operation to ferry weapons to Central and South America and government sanctioned narcotrafficing on flights into El Toro.

Data processing records were purged on the maintenance of unmarked C-130s; a Marine with knowledge to purge the records unexpectedly promoted, transferred and murdered several years later. Other Marines who knew of the illegal drugs would meet violent deaths.

Record Number of US Military and Veteran Suicides | Veterans Today

February 10, 2013 Leave a comment

by Stephen Lendman

Headlines like this should shock: Suicides Outpace War Deaths. Surge in Military Suicides. Nearly Two Dozen Veterans Commit Suicide Daily.

These reports and similar ones reveal imperialism’s dark side. War takes its toll. Civilians suffer most. So do many combatants and veterans after returning home.

Most people don’t know. Little gets reported. Why do active duty personnel and vets take their own lives?

Unbearable emotional pain consumes them. Daily trauma builds. So does intolerable stress. Relief is desperately sought. Suicide is chosen. It’s a last option. Others were exhausted.

Veterans Call for Flags to Fly Upside Down – YNN, Your News Now

January 22, 2013 9 comments

War veterans are asking Americans across the country to fly their flags upside down this Fourth of July weekend. They say it’s a sign of distress and a protest against the Veterans Administration.

By: Mike Hedeen

A small group of veterans picketed outside the Canandaigua VA Hospital Wednesday afternoon. They were protesting the closing of VA hospitals across the country. They say those that aren’t closing are being sold off or leased to outside interests, depriving veterans the treatment they have earned.

Displaying the American flag upside down, however, is considered by some to be disrespectful.

“We’re not disgracing the flag but telling the public be on the alert,” said Gene Simes, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. “This is a distress call.”

The three minute video below will be shorter, by far, than the average commercial break. Rather than going out to get a beer, listen to the video, think about what is being said, perhaps look at how it has effected you and your family and decide to do something.

If you can, and this is not a task for those who are not willing to put themselves at emotional and perhaps physical risk, please help.

Contact each of the governmental organizations tasked with veterans services in your area, the Department of Veterans Affairs and your local, be it city or county and certainly your state veterans service commissions.

Surviving War, Falling to Suicide

January 3, 2013 Leave a comment

Suffering an IED blast on the battlefield is most certainly a traumatic event, especially when accompanied by witnessing the death or injury of other service members or civilians. Untangling the physical from the mental damage is never easy.

But doctors and veterans’ advocates feel that they are running out of time, given the skyrocketing rates of suicide among active-duty soldiers and veterans. According to the most recent statistics, Army and Navy suicides are at a record high: 2012 was the worst year for self-inflicted deaths since the military began tracking them in 2001. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta last summer called the situation an “epidemic” — with approximately 3,000 military suicides on record since 9/11.

When visitors first enter the museum, they will hear a sound like wind chimes coming from above them and their attention will be drawn upward 24 feet to the ceiling of the two-story high atrium.

There they will see tens of thousands of metal dog tags, spaced evenly one inch apart, suspended from fine lines which will allow them to move like a living thing with the shifts in air currents.

Few female Marines step forward for infantry

Female Marine officers are unlikely to join the infantry anytime soon, in part because of a lack of volunteers for the Marine Corps’ Infantry Officer Course, which was opened to women in September.

Only two of about 80 eligible female Marines have volunteered for the course — a grueling, three-month advanced regimen conducted at Quantico, Va., that was opened to women to research their performance.

Retired Marine Shoots Home Intruder During Break-In (OK)

November 22, 2012 1 comment

If you’re a thief, there are a couple of warning signs that you should watch out for. A dog bowl and a leash in the front yard would tip you off that you’re probably going to get bitten. A sign that reads, “Trespassers will be shot!” is pretty self-explanatory.

The home of 77-year-old Lloyd McCarty is similarly filled with warning signs. He flies an American flag on the front porch, he has a U.S. Marine Corpspatch tacked to the wall, and he also keeps a framed picture of himself in his glory day as a Marine. If the home invader had noticed these clues then maybe he would have picked another house to rob.

According to reports, McCarty heard a knock on his door – a knock so light that it was suspicious — on Nov. 10. The shrewd veteran retrieved his .32-caliber pistol just in time to encounter the home invader breaking down his front door. With the casual devil-may-care attitude that only a war veterancan have, McCarty said, “He hit (the door) that hard and when he hit it that hard that’s when I shot the door. He went to a hollerin’ and screamin’. I could hear him going clear down the street hollerin.” He added, “Well, maybe I shoulda shot two or three times.”

The Speech General Petraeus Did Not Give…

November 14, 2012 Leave a comment

I have received the letter below a couple times now, and checking with Snoops they can only dispute it to the extent it originated with Nick Palmisciano co-owner and co-founder of Ranger Up and not General David Petraeus. The Army was excited enough about Palmisciano’s work that they published it on their Facebook. I verified the substance of its truthfulness as you can do also by looking at the links I checked.

Let it Begin Here, the American Armageddon | Veterans Today

July 14, 2012 3 comments

…..What are our other addictions? Americans pay. We don’t like taxes, instead prices of everything in America reflect rigging, every day, just to survive, bills arrive.

Welcome to the nuclear age – literally.

For those stupid enough, you can spend your entire income on texting, “tweeting” and “pay per view” television.

We also pay for water, something quickly disappearing or sewers or electricity and the sulphurous smoke or invisible radiation that is the byproduct.

Every nuclear plant leaks, leaks a hundred times more than we are told, actually, we are never told. Drive the highways, look at half of America’s trees, dying from acid rain, state after state, laws “revised” during the Bush43 regime.

There is no poison deadly enough, no pollution dirty enough, nothing so bad that Americans can’t breath or eat or drink it, no medicine dangerous enough or expensive enough, not when there is profit to be made.

A number of times in the past, I have warned about how dangerous I think T.V. shows like Doomsday Preppers are to the prepping community. In my opinion, these prepping shows do nothing to help people prepare and are designed to do only one thing – To make Preppers look like complete Wackjobs!

June 6, 2012 2 comments

‘Honor is a hard term to describe. It doesn’t have a color or weight or shape. If someone were to ask me what honor looked like, I’d probably struggle with what to say.

But something happened on May 23, 2012 at 9:31 a.m. at Gate 38 of Reagan National Airport that might change that. A flash mob of sorts broke out. But not like you’ve seen on YouTube with highly choreographed dance numbers or people singing a song in unison. In fact, virtually all of the participants of this “flash mob” didn’t know they would be participating until moments before it happened.

(“The only important things in my life were the US marines, your mother and you kids.””) Used by the State, Even in Death by Mike (in Tokyo) Rogers

June 1, 2012 Leave a comment

My father died last year. One of the last wishes of this retired career marine father was to have a burial at sea in the tradition of the military.

He told me upon his death bed, “The only important things in my life were the US marines, your mother and you kids.”

I wasn’t pleased at all with this decision for a military burial as I do not believe that the US military really “takes care of its own” at all. One need just look at all the military veterans who are homeless or had their bodies and ashes dumped in landfills for evidence of this. But it was my father’s life and death and, since I no longer live in the USA, it was difficult for me to try to convince my father and remaining family that we should have a quiet family-only ceremony like we did for my mother.

New Education Benefit for Unemployed Veterans Has Strong Response | Veterans Today

May 31, 2012 Leave a comment

WASHINGTON – Within two weeks of being announced, a program to give skills training to some unemployed Veterans has garnered over 12,000 online applications, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

“VA is committed to supporting Veterans as they seek employment. This initiative will help provide education and training so that Veterans have an opportunity to find meaningful employment in a high-demand field,” said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki. “We will continue to build on the success of our initial outreach efforts to Veterans.”

Called the Veteran Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP), the program allows qualifying Veterans between the ages of 35 and 60 to receive up to 12 months of education assistance. Maximum payments are equal to the full-time rate for the Montgomery GI Bill – Active Duty, currently $1,473 monthly.

Under VRAP, Veterans apply on a first-come, first-served basis for programs that begin on or after July 1. VA began accepting applications on May 15. Forty-five thousand Veterans can participate during the current fiscal year, and up to 54,000 may participate during the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, 2012.

The goal of the program is to train 99,000 Veterans for high-demand jobs over the next two years.

To qualify Veterans must:

Be 35 to 60 years old, unemployed on the day of application, and have been issued discharges under conditions other than dishonorable;

Be enrolled in education or training after July 1, 2012, in a VA-approved program of education offered by a community college or technical school leading to an associate degree, non-college degree or a certificate for a high-demand occupation as defined by the Department of Labor;

Not be eligible for any other VA education benefit, such as the Post-9/11 GI Bill, the Montgomery GI Bill, or Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment;
