In my opinion, there should be no “presidential palace” in America; its existence belies that we are a Republic—not a democracy—and a free people. Likewise the so-called “governors mansions” in the various states which are also supposed to be a republican form of government.
Let’s get it right from the top down.
Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen exist for the purpose of defending our country; they are not of a “standing army”; and they are out-of-place as rent-a-cops, no matter the seeming lofty level of their pseudo masters.

When I first started work at the White House last January, there were countless reminders that I was in a whole new world. Whether the oversized hallways and doors of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building or your boss coming and going in a massive helicopter in his backyard, this was unlike any workplace I’d ever seen.
