In the first major survey of House Republicans’ attitudes toward raising the debt limit, more than half say they are committed to opposing more borrowing and only 23 of 241 take their leadership’s position that approving more borrowing past the $14.3 trillion limit is essential.
The survey was conducted by WND through calls and e-mails to the offices of members and, when direct responses were not forthcoming, public statements made by the officials were used.
The results are staggering in their lopsidedness, because it takes only 218 votes in the Republican-controlled House to block any effort to raise the debt limit – an action that would precipitate the most drastic cuts in federal government programs in modern history.
A total of 122 House Republicans are already committed to opposing any additional hike in the debt limit, while 54 others says they would do so with conditions – most of which include spending cuts or a balanced budget. An additional 42 members say they are undecided.
Shock the Washington establishment by participating in the “No More Red Ink” campaign and shut down all new plans for bailouts, “stimulus” spending and even the funding for Obamacare.House Speaker John Boehner has repeatedly said publicly that the debt limit will have to be raised, at the same time pushing for spending cuts.
Boehner believes failure to raise the debt limit will result in defaults on loan obligations and poses danger to the government’s credit rating, an assessment he shares with Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner

The administration also announced that terrorist trials by military commission would recommence. This is a win for U.S. security, but the country has paid a heavy price for Mr. Obama’s on-the-job training in counterterrorism.
The low-key announcements stand in marked contrast with the bombast with which Mr. Obama approached this issue just a few years ago. During the 2008 presidential campaign, then-Sen. Barack Obama harshly criticized President George W. Bush’s detainee policies. When he took office, Mr. Obama theatrically announced that he would close Gitmo in a year and find a way to give the terror detainees the full due-process rights enjoyed by American citizens.
In so doing, he legitimized the complaints of the worst critics of American counterterrorism policies, including the terrorists themselves. Two years later, some learning appears to have occurred at the White House.
The president’s hasty “close Gitmo” pledge foundered on practical and political grounds. Contrary to the story line peddled by anti-war alarmists, the Bush administration already had released most of the detainees that had been held there, and those who remained were the hard cases who truly threatened U.S. national security.
Trying the detainees in civilian courts raised a multitude of nettlesome questions about public evidence, speedy trials, Miranda warnings and the other aspects of due process that didn’t support the Bush administration’s warfighting approach………………….

BUT IS THE JUDGE DE FACTO OR DE JURE?
WHAT ABOUT OBAMA?
by Sharon Rondeau
The California Secretary of State‘s website describes Debra Bowen as having “followed through with her commitment to opening up government by making the agency’s work as transparent and accessible as possible.”Mar. 8, 2011 — In December 2008, Capt. Pamela Barnett U.S. Army-Ret. filed a complaint with the office of California Secretary of State Debra Bowen prior to the meeting of the Electors of the Electoral College.
She also asked that the online “Certification of Live Birth” bearing Obama’s name be investigated for authenticity.Capt. Barnett hand-delivered her complaint to the office of the secretary of state and personally observed the clerk stamp the document “Received.”
Barnett told The Post & Email that according to the Help America Vote Act HAVA, Bowen’s office should have provided a response to her complaint within 60 days. However, she received nothing, and 14 months later filed a second complaint requesting an explanation for why she had received no response.

Everyone should remember the tape-recorded message to the IMF Impossible Mission Force, just before the tape self-destructed that originated with the late 1960’s TV series, Mission Impossible.
“As always, should you or any member of the IMF be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions.”
Marine Sgt. Larry Hutchins proud member of the I MEF: Ist Marine Expeditionary Force and his team allegedly had such an assignment in Iraq in 2006, and they were ‘caught’ not by the so-called ‘enemy’, but by our own so-called ‘leadership’ in government and the top echelons of our Secretaries:
Following a ‘kangaroo’ court-martial wherein Marine Sgt. Hutchins was not allowed to present even a basic constitutional defense such as showing the body of the alleged IMF target, these ‘disavowing’ secretaries threw our honorable IMF team and many others such as the Leavenworth 10 to the sharks of Islamic Jihad, with not a word of support nor an act of defense by their ‘buddies,’ the members of the Marine Corps itself.
Consider these actions recently taken against Marine Sgt. Larry Hutchins:
A far-left think tank partnered with the community activist group ACORN and, founded with input from President Obama, has concocted a $382 billion so-called stimulus plan the group claims will lower unemployment.
The plan was formulated by Demos, whose officials are calling on Congress to incorporate the “stimulus” as lawmakers currently debate how to tackle budget cuts for the year.Demos reportedly told reporters in a conference call this week that their new stimulus plan would create 8.2 million government jobs over two years while lowering unemployment from 8.9 percent to 4.5 percent.”Subversion Inc” unearths ACORN’s gnarled roots of leftist radicalism and its intricate entanglements with President Obama”Poll after poll indicates the American people want job creation over other national goals, including deficit reduction,” Demos Vice President Tamara Draut told reporters.
Demos released its proposal online in a new study entitled “A Public Jobs Proposal For Economic Recovery.” The report claims $46.4 billion would be needed to create 1 million state, local and federal jobs.”The recovery strategy described in this report is conceptually simple: Create jobs for the unemployed directly and immediately in public employment programs that produce useful goods and services for the public’s benefit,” states the study.
Story continues below While the proposal received some news media attention, the media coverage did not mention Demos’ radical ties nor the group’s connection to Obama.Demos has partnered with ACORN and its ally, Project Vote, on several projects.
Demos personalities were among ACORN’s top defenders when the organization was accused of rampant voter fraud in 2008.According to Demos’ own website, while Obama was a state senator in 1999, he served on the working group that founded Demos……………………..
RUSH: We’ve had a number of people say, “You know, Rush, we gotta be very careful. We gotta stick to opposing Obama on the grounds of policy.
He’s a popular guy. I mean, everybody likes him. He’s a warm guy.”He is not! Everybody doesn’t like him.
We’re tying our hands behind our backs, all kinds of self-imposed limitations when we tell ourselves this.
President Obama yesterday formalized indefinite detention for dozens of men held at Guantanamo Bay and announced that the Pentagon would move ahead with military trials for a handful of other detainees. In an executive order, which we first reported on in June 2009, the White House created a board to periodically review the dangerousness of prisoners being held without charge or trial. The order says the new process will allow detainees — some in custody for nearly a decade — to challenge the government’s determination that they pose a threat if released.
In the eternal spiritual sense, unbelieving conservatives are no different than unbelieving secularist.
Though one group is far more humanly virtuous and noble than the other, both groups have fallen completely short of the glory of God Isa. 64:6; Rom. 3:19-23, and ALL have transgressed Almighty God’s RIGHTEOUS absolutes given in the 10 Commandments.
No sane individual either right or left can ever say that they have kept God’s Perfect Law with their whole heart, soul and mind
Most people like to push thoughts about the end of the world to the back of their minds, hoping that the apocalypse, if it ever comes, will be a long way off.But for one group of not-so happy campers, doomsday is a lot sooner…May 21 to be precise.According to the predictions of the Family Radio ministry, on that date a massive earthquake will shake the world apart, littering the ground with ‘many dead bodies’.
Not all the powers President Obama has wielded or claimed seem clearly identifiable in the U.S. Constitution. Whether that is tolerable or even desirable appears to require consideration since the entire point of having a constitution is to limit government in the hope of fending off tyranny. Our President wouldn’t be the first to act extra-constitutionally; the pattern goes far back into U.S. history. The famous slippery slope describes that history; earlier events made smaller blips on the power horizon and later ones loom larger. Sometimes, the Supreme Court has stepped in, as exemplified by Presidents Roosevelt and Truman.
Much has been made of whether or not Obamacare influences physicians to provide end of life counseling to elderly or very sick patients. Although that does not fit her description, the news media seems obsessed with tying that to Sarah Palin’s allusion of a “death panel” being a part of the plan. Why?Apparently, because that diverts attention from the actual death panel — one that really will decide whether you get life saving treatment, or whether you are budgeted and snuffed out.
…This morning, Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said in a radio interview that President Obama’s political team is directly involved in burgeoning efforts to recall Republican elected officials emphasis on the word “elected,” as in chosen by the people of Wisconsin in a democratic vote four months ago:”There’s many people that are beginning to believe this is a delay tactic by the Democrats in the Senate so that these recall elections can be organized by the Obama team out of Chicago, which they are, as we start to do the research on the people that have filed the petition,” Fitzgerald told Newsradio 620 WTMJ’s “Wisconsin’s Morning News.”

By Maj. John Plaster, U.S. Army Ret. Not long after U.S. forces invaded Afghanistan, al-Qaeda and its Taliban allies came to realize that America’s 5.56×45 mm NATO infantry rifles lost most of their lethality beyond 500 meters. Demonstrating their adaptability, the insurgents exploited Afghanistan’s sprawling valleys and distant mountainsides to seek engagements beyond the M16’s and M4’s effective ranges.
The Department Of Homeland Security has concluded that it is perfectly reasonable for it to spy on dozens of peaceful advocacy groups and monitor scores of lawful protests and political rallies in the name of national security.
The ACLU demanded an investigation into whether DHS officials abused their authority by improperly collecting and disseminating information regarding political demonstrations, following revelations that Homeland Security’s Federal Protective Service FPS had been engaging in such activity dating back to 2006.
The OCRCL has refused to disclose the memorandum detailing its investigative findings, however it sent a letter to the ACLU last week reaffirming that it sees no wrongdoing in the actions whatsoever, while admitting that there was no adequate differentiation between civil activist and violent extremist organizations.
We strongly disagree with the OCRCL’s finding that FPS acted within its authority to compile and disseminate a list tracking the political activities of advocacy groups.” The ACLU states on its website.
Incompetence and sheer arrogance of President Obama has been manifest since he took the oath of officeAlmost weekly the incompetence and sheer arrogance of President Obama has been manifest since he took the oath of office.
I recall an interview in which he expressed the opinion that he might well be a one term president and I thought that odd at the time.In retrospect, it seems to me now that he always knew that his radical socialist agenda would likely ensure his defeat for a second term.
Despite all the hysteria and Islamophobia-mongering, Islam isn’t on trial here A Rally at Times Square and a Time for a Muslim Moral Reckoning By Daniel Greenfield
The occupant of the White House’s middle name is Hussein, every school curriculum lists a whitewashed history of Islam that ignores the genocides and atrocities, and there are now more positive depictions of Muslims on TV, than there are of Christians and Jews combined. But Muslims in America still aren’t happy.
From all the wailing and boohooing, you might think that mosques were being shelled, the way Muslims are attacking monasteries in Egypt. Or that Muslim politicians were being gunned down in the street the way that Christian politicians are in Pakistan. You might at least think that Muslims are treated like second-class citizens, the way non-Muslims are treated in every Muslim country in the world. But no that’s not the case.
Many of us here in Tennessee have been following your articles about corruption in this state and believe that many of your readers elsewhere in the world might just have some difficulty believing that such abuses, denial of due process and/or civil rights could be happening in the United States at this point in history.
Parts of Tennessee, Georgia, the Western Carolinas, and Kentucky have a very unique history, terrain, culture and set of circumstances which set the people in this area somewhat apart from the rest of the country.
The rest of the world sometimes catches a glimpse of this unique culture through country music and movies such as Coal Miner’s Daughter, O Brother Where Art Thou, Deliverance, etc. However, such images are incomplete. For well over a hundred years, this area was remote and inaccessible to outsiders and outside influence. In recent years, improvements in transportation, highways, satellite television and the computer opened this area to the outside world………………….
There is talk now about the U.S. getting involved. Should we intervene in Libya, helping the rebels to overthrow Khaddafi? It wouldn’t be the first time that U.S. troops have been involved in Libya.
Remember the Marines’ hymn – “From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli” In Tripoli, now Libya’s capital, U.S. Marines fought the Barbary pirates nearly two centuries ago.
In 2011, though, we’d better think long and hard before jumping into the Libyan cauldron. In fact, it’s high time to re-evaluate our whole Middle Eastern policy and see if we need a course re-adjustment.
In the first place, history should have showed us by now that just because a ruler is a dictator doesn’t mean his replacement will be any better. Remember that old Who song that says “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.” The new boss might even be worse than the old boss.
As if the military did not have enough to worry about with two wars, troops around the globe and members of Congress calling for the imposition of a no-fly zone over Libya a de facto act of war, the Military Leadership Diversity Commission MLDC Monday released a report informing those in uniform that there are too many white men in their uppermost ranks.
Ordered by Congress in the 2009 National Defense Authorization Act, the report seeks to increase diversity.“The commission’s recommendations support two overriding and related objectives: 1 that the Armed Forces systematically develop a demographically diverse leadership … and 2 that the services pursue a broader approach to diversity that includes the range of backgrounds, skill sets and personal attributes that are necessary to enhancing military performance,” the report reads.According to the document, 77 percent of active duty senior officers are white, 8 percent are black, 5 percent are Hispanic and 16 percent are women — something that needs to change, according to the MLDC.“Leveraging diversity as a vital strategic military resource will require the commitment, vision, and know-how of leaders at every level,” the report continues. “Without this commitment to instill respect for diversity as a core value, the needed cultural change may not take place.”……………..
What is the theme, where is the consistency in U.S. policy?
We support the dictator in Yemen, the absolute monarch in Saudi Arabia, the king in Bahrain, the sultan in Oman and the emir in Kuwait, but back pro-democracy demonstrators in Iran, though there have been more elections in Iran than in all those other nations put together.
America has taken a terrible beating for what she has done and tried and failed to do in that region for a decade.
Let the “world community” take the lead on this one.
Recently Texas Republican Congressman Ted Poe reintroduced an idea whose time might have finally come. He addressed Congress asking that we review the Foreign Aid we are sending to countries around the world with the purpose of cutting most of it. Referring to the many countries with their hands out looking for Foreign Aid, Poe asked a very direct question,
“Why do we need to pay them to hate us?”
Poe’s fact filled, but brief, speech contained some compelling points. We are giving Foreign Aid money, our tax money, to 150 of the 192 countries of the world. Some of these counties are ungrateful but most of the biggest recipients are outright hostile toward us and can fairly be accused of hating us.

[Hamiltons Curse: How Jefferson's Archenemy Betrayed the American Revolution — and What It Means for Americans Today • By Thomas DiLorenzo • Three Rivers, 2009 • 256 pages. This review originally appeared in the Freeman, February 24, 2010. An MP3 audio file of this article, narrated by Keith Hocker, is available for download.]
The more historical research I read and the more I contrast what economists write with what noneconomists write, the more I am convinced that the bulk of history and biography should be redone. Thomas DiLorenzo, an economics professor at Loyola College in Maryland, explains why:
Even as Mideast oil supplies are increasingly imperiled by civil unrest, President Obama is systematically blocking every effort to develop domestic supplies of oil. If the turmoil in the Mideast escalates, it could unnecessarily mean $5 or more a gallon gas and the collapse of the American economy.
Based on solely on his actions, it would seem President Obama hates America and most Americans. After all, a robust economy is dependent on a cheap supply of energy. Yet, the Obama administration has thrown roadblock after roadblock in the way of developing domestic coal, oil and natural gas supplies that would assure a stable, cheap supply of energy for America.Perhaps this shouldn’t be a surprise. After all, Obama warned that his cap and trade plans would “bankrupt” the coal industry and necessarily cause energy prices to “skyrocket” during the 2008 campaign. But, the electorate didn’t pay any attention because he promised hope and change. We should have paid more attention. In an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle during the 2008 campaign Obama casually dropped the bombshell that he would bankrupt the coal industry.
“Sure, if somebody wants to build coal-fired power plants, they can,” said Obama as if he was discussing the weather, “it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they are gonna be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.”

“Until the Supreme Court speaks to these issues, we will have to form our own opinions of the constitutionality of the Obama Administration’s various actions. ” ~ The Powers of This President
Until the Supreme Court speaks to these issues, we will have to form our own opinions of the constitutionality of the Obama Administration’s various actions. The ObamaCare legislation demanded by the President and passed by Congress appears to be headed toward that disposition at the moment. President Truman was more popular during his railroad and meat packers actions; much less so when he reached for the steel industry. Often, that factor has done more to determine the level of opposition aroused by a presidential power grab than has its conformance to the Constitution.
A proposal in the Legislature would change state traffic laws and possibly reignite friction that dates back two decades among towns, counties, law enforcement agencies, courts and drivers.A bill in the House of Representatives would allow police to write a warning ticket to speeders driving less than 10 mph over the speed limit.
The kicker is the motorist would not suffer points on his or her driving record, which can raise premiums. In addition, cash-strapped state government and city halls would split the take……………………………
