Even the richest Colombian coffee couldn’t save Hillary Clinton from the telltale effects of a hard night of partying.
The state of Florida has charged neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman with second-degree murder for shooting 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman will defend himself by claiming Florida law allowed him to “stand his ground” against Martin’s threatening behavior.
Evidence of what really happened is scant. Martin is dead, and no eye witnesses saw the encounter. A 911 recording casts doubt on Zimmerman’s account, but the Florida law will make it hard to get a conviction.
It’s hard to believe under the circumstances that a large armed adult had to shoot an unarmed teenager in self-defense, but the extra layer of justification provided by the ridiculous “stand your ground” law invites this sort of mayhem.
The law, passed at the behest of the National Rifle Association and other gun-rights promoters, gives people the broad right to use deadly force without having to retreat from a fight. It gives a decided edge to someone like Zimmerman, who hauls out a gun and eliminates an adversary. In defense, he need only show “by a preponderance of evidence” he was acting in self-defense to get a judge or court to deny a second-degree murder conviction.
Many observers think prosecutors made this relatively tough charge expecting it to fail, moving the onus to the court.
Lord Nazir Ahmed, 53, who in 1998 became the first Muslim life peer, was reported to have made the comments at a conference in Haripur in Pakistan.
A Labour Party spokesman said: “We have suspended Lord Ahmed pending investigation. If these comments are accurate we utterly condemn these remarks which are totally unacceptable.”
How are we going to Win the Future with this kind of shenanigans going on? Exactly what is going on here – have we switched to an “America Built to be Last?” These people all used to be serious people, doing serious jobs. Now it’s all, like, Girls Gone Wild or something. What next, tattoos?
While the American media provide cover for the Constitutionally ineligible Barack Hussein Obama,Vladimir Putin and the nation of Russia are reaping a treasure trove of defense secrets and missile technology by threatening to reveal the true history of the Manchurian Candidate.
RUSH: Let’s cut to the chase, and let’s get to the real question in the Secret Service hooker scandal in Colombia. What I want to know is, did those Colombian hookers have to pay for their own contraception, or are they covered under Obama‘s health care plan as it extends to the Secret Service agents? That’s the question. That’s what everybody ought to be asking.
With the War on Women being waged at full strength, how could that question not come up? How could that question not be asked? It wasn’t asked by anybody on the Sunday shows. It hasn’t been brought up by Hilary Rosen. It hasn’t been brought up by Anita Dunn. I don’t think’s Obama brought it up, but is it not the most important question? Who pays for the hookers’ contraception?
It is not generally known that John Birch (left), a Christian missionary in China from 1940-45, led Doolittle and many other survivors of the Tokyo raid back to safety after they had been forced to parachute from their bombers behind Japanese lines on the China mainland. See the 10-minute video, The Adventures of Captain John Birch (also posted at the bottom of this article) for a brief account of John Birch’s role in rescuing Doolittle’s Raiders.
