Gunny G’s Marines History and Traditions: Parachute Accidents: Silk Chutes and Hard Fighting

…..Three other men died in Marine Corps jumping accidents not related to the performance of the parachute. Two men drowned after landing in water; one at Norfolk, Virginia, and one at New River, North Carolina. The final fatality occurred when a New River trainee lost his nerve just as he approached the door of the plane.

He moved out of the line of jumpers, but his static line became tangled with the next man to go out. The non-jumper’s parachute opened while he was inside the plane and the billowing chute slammed him against the aircraft body hard enough to wreck the door and sever his spine.

The most unusual accident occurred near San Diego, California, on 15 May 1941. Second Lieutenant Walter A. Osipoff and 11 enlisted men of Company A were making a practice jump over Kearney Mesa. Everyone else had exited the plane and he threw out a cargo pack, which possibly tangled in his static line.

His parachute opened prematurely while he was still in the door of the plane; it billowed outside the aircraft and pulled him out, but the canopy and suspension lines tangled in the bundle of static lines streaming beside the transport. For a moment the cargo pack, Osipoff and his partially opened parachute were all suspended from the cable that held the static lines.

Down With the Presidency by Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr.

The modern institution of the presidency is the primary political evil Americans face, and the cause of nearly all our woes. It squanders the national wealth and starts unjust wars against foreign peoples that have never done us any harm.

It wrecks our families, tramples on our rights, invades our communities, and spies on our bank accounts. It skews the culture toward decadence and trash. It tells lie after lie. Teachers used to tell school kids that anyone can be president. This is like saying anyone can go to Hell. It’s not an inspiration; it’s a threat.

Paul/Ventura ticket would pose greater threat than Ross Perot’s 1992 campaign

A new poll conducted by NBC and the Wall Street Journal suggests that should Congressman Ron Paul eventually decide to run as a third party candidate, he could completely transform the 2012 election and pose an even greater threat to the establishment than Ross Perot’s 1992 campaign.

Poll: Ron Paul 3rd Party Bid Could Transform 2012 Election paulventure2012 420REV

“Paul would earn the support of 18 percent of voters in a three-way race with President Obama and Mitt Romney, according to the poll, with Romney earning 32 percent and Obama receiving 44,” reports The Hill.

Paul’s number beats that of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who would garner 13 percent of the vote if he ran as a third party candidate.

Such figures are already impressive given the fact that Paul has not even begun to harness the momentum…

One of the most dangerous aspects of progressivism is the stranglehold they have upon the educational system. None of the ideas they have are new, some may be modern spins on old ideals, but these ultimately go back a long, long way.

John Dewey is very well known as the father of modern education, but Dewey himself cites Mann as the “patron saint of progressive education”. This makes Mann an important figure to be readily knowledgable about, as well as the roots of his beliefs.

…..So he went back and reviewed his own book and outlined it to get ready for some of these interviews, and he had forgotten how bad it was even though he wrote it! Here’s how he described that. Hannity said, “I almost call the book ‘encyclopedic’ because it’s chapter and verse on Obama’s presidency. I found there was so much I forgot about Obama. Do you think people forget?’

DAVID LIMBAUGH: No question. We’ve almost become numb to it because there’s such an overwhelming amount of evidence of the things that he’s done. This is almost humorous. When I finished writing the book I had probably 12,000 articles and 57 folders. I’m not exaggerating. It was overwhelming. I wrote the book in 5-1/2 months; went through the editing process. Then I started reading it and preparing for these interviews, and I was overwhelmed reading it again! There is so much…

The recent release of my previous column titled Rubio Can Lock the Election for Obama resulted in numerous reader emails that demonstrate a continuing confusion over the indisputable definition and application of the term Natural Born Citizen. This follow up column is written to remove all confusion from the topic, once and for all.

Sadly, most of the people concerned with this topic believe they each know the truth, even though they do not agree on what the truth is. Most opinions are based upon second source or third hand information, most of it motivated by political agenda.

My objective is to establish through first source evidence the true meaning of the term Natural Born Citizen as used by our Founders in Article II of the Constitution, and spread the truth, no matter who it helps or harms in the political arena. I have written on this subject extensively and…
