As we told you before, the left was salivating over the prospect of a Jason Chaffetz scandal. When he announced he would be walking away from Congress, Dems went into conspiracy theory overdrive. After all, government is the only thing on Earth that matters. There could be no logical reason for Chaffetz’s resignation – unless he was tied to those pesky Russian hackers. Chaffetz, they argued, wanted to get out before he landed in prison.
There was, of course, nothing to it. It was more left-wing fan-fiction designed to make themselves feel better about the sorry state of their party. Chaffetz immediately denied he was facing any sort of looming scandal, and the alleged story never materialized. Considering how the left despises him, if there was anything floating around out there, you can bet the media would be all over it. So far, we’ve heard nothing but crickets.
Now, it seems we have a sane explanation for his departure – and it appears to have confirm rumors we heard before he even made his announcement. Prepare yourself for more disappointment, Democrats. According to a report at The Washingtonian, Chaffetz is taking *GASP* a TV gig.According to two GOP lawmakers who have spoken to Chaffetz directly and four senior House Republican aides, Chaffetz has been telling people he’ll take on what one source calls a “substantial role” in on-air talent at Fox News Channel, possibly as early as July, amplifying whispers that Chaffetz will not finish out his current term.Chaffetz, 50, has said on Facebook he made “a personal decision to return to the private sector.” Some observers in Utah speculated that he might join Fox News in some capacity.
