“Gnosticism,” a name for some of the first- and second-century followers of Jesus, feels a lot like ACIM…!!!!!!!

I am reading Love Does Not Condemn: The World, the Flesh, and the Devil According to Platonism, Christianity, Gnosticism, and A Course In Miracles by Kenneth Wapnick and it talks about the similarities, differences, and how the Course is a correction to these systems.

I know there are various books that explore this, Kenneth wrote one prior to the one I’m reading, but this one is a LOT more in-depth.

The idea is that many of these things are similar, but they were not entirely correct and this created lies which the Course aimed to correct.

The first few pages of the book there’s mention of “Gnosticism was the first major attempt to present an alternative to the orthodox view and was created to correct the church’s misunderstandings of the nature of the world and God’s relation to it.” Which is also what the Course is attempting to do…..
