He also spoke of a “socialistic elite” – Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid – who might use a pandemic disease or natural disaster as an excuse to declare martial law.

“They’re trying to develop an environment where they can take over,” he said. “We’ve seen that historically.”

Supporters of presidential candidate Ron Paul are complaining that other Clarke County Republicans shut out their slate of delegates at the county convention Saturday.

The libertarian-leaning Texas congressman’s supporters are trying to win election as delegates to the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., in August, libertarian activist Carter Kessler said.

They claim the Clarke County GOP broke its own rules by electing a slate of delegates that excluded Paul supporters over their objections.

The tactic of contesting delegate nominations is part of Paul’s longshot strategy to win the Republican nomination despite not winning a single state so far, according to ABC News. His campaign is also “accused of muddying county conventions in Colorado and Iowa last weekend,” the network reported Thursday.

The dispute highlights tension between Paul supporters, many of whom are young and newcomers to politics, and veteran Republican activists. State party Chairwoman Sue Everhart referenced similar conflicts in an email to party members Wednesday. Many longtime Republicans didn’t show up to county conventions, while many new activists did, she said.

Paul supporters gathered a quorum Sunday and elected a competing slate of delegates, Kessler said.

Georgia Lawmaker Is Asked: When Will Someone Shoot Obama?

February 25, 2011 Leave a comment

Talk about lack of civility. Georgia Rep. Paul Broun couldn’t have expected this question as he opened the floor for discussion at a recent town hall meeting in the college town of Athens.

One unidentified man in the crowd reportedly asked him: “Who’s going to shoot Obama?”The Republican lawmaker said Friday he was “stunned” by the remark and chose “not to dignify it with a response.”

He said the culprit was an elderly man in the audience.

An Athens Banner-Herald reporter covering the event Tuesday couldn’t make out the precise wording in the crowded Oglethorpe Couty Commission chamber, but heard the laughter that followed it. There is some dispute about what exactly happened next.

Latest Evidence Nothing has Changed in post-Tucson America:”Who is Going to Shoot President Obama?”

February 25, 2011 Leave a comment

“Here’s the latest evidence that nothing has changed in post-Tucson America…” Writes Justin Elliott in Salon:

A person at a Tuesday town hall with Rep. Paul Broun, R-Ga., got up and asked, “Who is going to shoot President Obama?”The exact wording of the question is not clear because, the Athens Banner-Herald reports, there was a lot of noise at the event.

If you don’t know the “exact wording,” why do you have some words in quotes? This non-quote has gone viral in the leftosphere, the leftosphere where no one seems to mind all the violent and over-the-top language and imagery at the week-long Wisconsin protests.

If you don’t have that quote, why are you spewing it out there? Maybe what hasn’t changed post-Tucson is you?

Seriously. Why put out a quote that you don’t have? You’re trying to stir people up and create discord! You are the problem you are talking about? Do you have any self-awareness at all?The question prompted a “big laugh” from the crowd, in Oglethorpe County, Ga., according to the Banner-Herald.

Broun, for his part, did not object to the question. He said in response:”The thing is, I know there’s a lot of frustration with this president…”And now, you want to attribute incivility to Broun, but you don’t know what he heard.

He mentions the president, so presumably, he caught that it was something anti-Obama, but beyond that you are making stuff up.If the crowd was so big, and it was a planned event, where’s the digital video?

Don’t tell me the crowd was too noisy for anyone to record it AND that the crowd heard it.
