FULL TITLE – “The Media Meme of the Day is BS! Obama Isn’t Disengaged — He Leads a Government Waging War on Its Domestic Enemies”
RUSH: Did you hear how David Axelrod attempted to defend Obama on the IRS scandal? I think he was on MSNBC today. David Axelrod said (paraphrasing), “Well, you know, the government’s too big. The government’s simply too vast for Obama to control it.” Bingo! Exactly! That’s the whole reason the Tea Party exists. The government is too big. Not only is the government too big, it’s growing. It’s growing to the point that it is unmanageable, although that is a big, I think, diversion in and of itself.
The things you discover only after Obama is re-elected… (“…Robert Greenwald discovers that Obama has been killing children with drones”)
During my recent trip to Pakistan as part of our upcoming documentary film, Drones Exposed, I was struck most by the stories told to me by children who had experienced a U.S. drone strike firsthand. The impact of America’s drone war in the likes of Pakistan and Yemen will linger on, especially for the loved ones of the 178 children killed in those countries by U.S. drone strikes.
War Costs’ latest video (with accompanying report) brings attention to the children who have died as a result of drone strikes. The video names some of the children who perished in these strikes, and points out the obfuscation tactics of American officials who will not own up to the significant amount of civilian casualties that have occurred due to this legally- and morally-dubious policy.
For once in a blue moon, I find myself agreeing with Dana Milbank of the Washington Post (October 18) when he observes that “conservatives are mum about Mitt’s moderation.” Making allowances for Milbank’s ideologically colored view, when he says that in recent weeks the Republican presidential candidate “sprinted toward the center,” this columnist is correct on two points.
One, Romney has abandoned just about every “conservative” social position he took during the primaries; and two, “conservative” commentators and GOP regulars don’t seem to mind. They’re too busy celebrating Romney’s ascent in presidential polls, or else complaining that Romney hasn’t savaged Obama’s foreign policy furiously enough.
GOP media celebrities may be receiving their worldview as well as money from neoconservative fat cat Rupert Murdoch, who is an ardent American interventionist.
They seem to be oblivious to the fact that most Americans are not complaining about Obama’s insufficient aggressiveness in international relations.
Lincoln –Hero Or Traitor?…
As one viewer states…”I’m stunned that someone had the guts to broadcast truths like these on television. “
“The next night, O’Reilly read a complaint from one of his viewers, Heidi Haverlock of Cleveland, who said: “I thought the joke about whether sharia law would allow the beheading of the Washington Post guy was completely inappropriate.
“O’Reilly replied: “Well, let me break this to you gently, Heidi. If Dana Milbank did in Iran what he does in Washington, he’d be hummus.”O’Reilly’s on-air fantasizing about violent ends for me was precipitated by a column I wrote describing Fox News’s election-night coverage as a victory party for the Republicans.
This didn’t strike me as a terribly controversial point, but it evidently offended O’Reilly. “He said there were no Democrats except for Schoen on,” O’Reilly complained. “It was an outright lie.”That would have been an outright lie, except that I said no such thing. I wrote:
“To be fair and balanced, Fox brought in a nominal Democrat, pollster Doug Schoen. ‘This is a complete repudiation of the Democratic Party,’ he proclaimed.”Though I didn’t claim Schoen was the sole Democrat, in hindsight I should have quoted other putative liberals who appeared on Fox that night – and sounded much like Schoen. There was Bob Beckel, proclaiming: “I feel like the blind guy whose guide dog died” and “I give all the credit to Republicans on this.”
Or Juan Williams on President Obama: “I just don’t think he gets it.”O’Reilly has every right to quarrel with my opinion or question my accuracy. But why resort to intimidation and violent imagery?Let’s drop the thuggish tactics – before more people get hurt.
