The left’s legacy of liesby

PHD November 15, 2014

Who amongst us has ever heard of William A. Wirt?In her exceptional book “American Betrayal:

The Secret Assault on Our Nation’s Character,” Diana West writes that Wirt, a Gary, Indiana schools superintendent, asserted before a Congressional committee in May 1934 that there was a deliberately conceived plot among members of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal administration to overthrow the established social order in the United States and substitute a communist-style planned economy.

The Roosevelt administration well understood that if Wirt’s accusations were seriously investigated it might distract from or even halt their political momentum.

For that reason, it was decided that the proceedings would be a suppression of the truth rather than an uncovering of the truth. For performing his patriotic duty, Wirt was branded a liar by committee Democrats, smeared by the press and even ridiculed by Roosevelt himself, a fate that would likewise befall future anti-communists such as ex-Soviet agent Whittaker Chambers, journalist M. Stanton Evans, Representative Martin Dies D-TX and Senator Joseph McCarthy R-WI.

As West notes, a careful investigation of Wirt’s charges might have averted the Communist infiltration of the U.S. government that marked the middle decades of the twentieth century.

Expert estimates now peg the number of Americans assisting Soviet intelligence agencies during the 1930s and 1940s as exceeding five hundred, including high-ranking government officials such as Alger Hiss State Department, Lauchlin Currie White House, Harry Dexter White Treasury and Roosevelt’s most intimate and Lend-Lease boss Harry Hopkins, who twice covertly…….

His vision of hope would propel him past Franklin Delano Roosevelt as the greatest President of the people. His amnesty for 13 million illegal aliens would make him more viable than Abraham Lincoln and his three years as a U.S. Senator would give him the leadership necessary to top Washington as the greatest president in American history. Comrade Abraham: Was President Lincoln a Closet Marxist? | Nomadic Politics

October 22, 2014 1 comment

When we think of Lincoln, most of us do not consider the sixteenth president as a Marxist revolutionary.

Yet, a little research uncovers some very interesting- slightly confounding- connections between Abe Lincoln and the father of the Communist movement. As fascinating as that might be, there is an even bigger shock in store when it comes to the origins of the Republican Party.

This quote in the meme above reportedly came early in his political career December 1847. For some of us who grew up thinking of “Honest Abe” as a folksy backwoods lawyer, it’s a bit jarring to hear him talking about labor issues. It’s not the image many of us have of the man who freed the slaves and held the nation together.

It’s hard enough to think of him as a Republican. But there was more to that quote. Lincoln also wrote in that same passage: These capitalists generally act harmoniously and in concert to fleece the people..MORE!

Who says Obama will leave at the end of his second term?

The Founding Fathers of the United States knew, and assumed it was a given, that the balanced recipe for freedom they had encoded in the Constitution they crafted would work – provided, of course, that its constraints on power were actually followed.

That requirement for restraint of course, includes the office of President of the United States. Our executive branch of government is not referred to in the Constitution as King His or Her Majesty, Monarch, or Dictator. That very ethic is precisely what Ben Franklin meant when someone asked him what kind of document he and the other founders had produced at the Constitutional Convention. Franklin’s reply: “A republic, if you can keep it.

“What kind of leader? Some students of constitutional law claim that only one of our 44 presidents faithfully followed the Constitution to the letter 100 percent of the time: Grover Cleveland, who let it be noted was a Democrat. A few others were on thin ice Woodrow Wilson, who was disabled the end of his tenure, and Franklin D. Roosevelt who died in office – both thus avoided accountability.

……Due to Donovan’s recommendation that the United States establish a “commando military element,” independent of the Army and Navy, he submitted a Memorandum to the President Roosevelt stating its overall purpose and function. The following day, President Roosevelt, in non-committal language, indicated that Donovan’s proposal for development and deployment of a “commando military element” had merit and would see to it that the idea would be considered.

President Roosevelt initiated a letter to the Commandant of the Marine Corps Major General Holcomb for consideration of Donovan’s idea. President Roosevelt, how was constantly in communication with Prime Minister Winston Minister Churchill, had talked over the “commando concept,” which Churchill favored the idea.

One of the biggest questions that arose concerning this issue, was where would this notional organization be placed. In Donovan’s Memorandum to the President, he only noted the purpose of the “commando military element” and did not address where it would be placed or its organizational structure. However, a number of circumstances pointed directly towards the Marine Corps.

The End of the World Powers

Posted by Daniel Greenfield @ the Sultan Knish blog

60 years ago an uprising in the Ukraine would have been met with machine guns fired from behind the armor of Communist ideology. With the fall of the USSR, Russia didn’t have much of an ideology to deploy against Ukrainian nationalism. It accused the protesters of being fascists, an accusation with some truth to it, but not one that anyone will take seriously coming from another fascist regime.
