(Col Sellin) ~ Does America stand for the preservation of rights or the perpetuation of power? ~ Family Security Matters …
by LAWRENCE SELLIN, PHD January 16, 2014
In numerous forums, I have argued that there is a Cold Civil War underway in the United States between the power of a one-party state represented by the entrenched Democrat-Republican political establishment and the rights of the American people.
The Declaration of Independence states that certain rights are unalienable and endowed by the Creator. A one-party state believes that rights are granted by the government and, when deemed convenient, are revocable by politicians.
The first through ninth amendments to the Constitution enumerate the rights of citizens and the tenth restricts the role of a central government, as stated:
\”The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.\”
There is no ambiguity.
Nevertheless, the Democrat-Republican ruling class, which seeks an ever larger and more intrusive government, argues the opposite, that the rights and restrictions stipulated in the Constitution are unclear and that all powers not specifically delegated to the citizen are reserved for the government.
Barack Obama wrote in The Audacity of Hope, \”I have to side with Justice Breyer\’s view of the Constitution — that it is not a static but rather a living document, and must be read in the context of an ever-changing world.\”
Kevin Gutzman, author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Constitution, has said, those who would offer us a \”living\” Constitution are actually giving us a dead one, since such a thing is completely unable to protect us against the encroachments of government power, for example, the misuse of executive orders.
As conservative radio host Mark Levin noted, Obama\’s announcement that he will assume lawmaking powers via executive orders violates the separation of powers clauses of the Constitution.
Yet no objection is raised by the majority Republicans in the House of Representatives, whose power Obama usurps.
Sadly, either through fear or self-interest, instances where members of Congress uphold their oath of office to \”support and defend the Constitution\” above political expediency are at best serendipity or at worst urban myth.
Not surprisingly, the politicians of America\’s one-party state view elections as little more than an opportunity for the redistribution of power among the political elite because the Democratic and Republican parties are not representatives of the people, but representatives of big government.
Members of Congress, once elected, become party foot-soldiers, whose sole purpose is to maintain the…………….

It’s the ruling class — Republicans and Democrats — against everyone else. Consider how President Obama just gave Congress its very own Obamacare waiver.Obamacare includes a provision that should cost each member of Congress and each staffer $5,000 to $11,000 per year. Needless to say, the ruling class was not pleased.Congress wasn’t about to try to exempt itself from this provision explicitly, though.
If John Q. Congressman voted to give himself an Obamacare waiver that his constituents don’t get, he wouldn’t be John Q. Congressman much longer.

Statement by Robert Greenstein
The House Republican Leadership has announced its intention to have the House vote, before adjourning on Friday or Saturday, on several major pieces of legislation that are not yet available to House members in final form because behind-closed-door negotiations on the proposals are still going on. The Leadership apparently intends to use a process known as “martial law” to allow these bills to be brought to the floor very shortly after negotiations are completed, with the result that Members of the House are likely to have virtually no time to examine and consider the details of the legislation before they will be required to vote on it.
Ron Paul has been a Congressman from Texas for 20 years. He has been running for President as a Republican. The Republican establishment despises him because he has been against the Iraq invasion from the beginning.
…..History has shown us socialism does not work. Countries laboring under the delusion that Utopia can be achieved by making sure all have ‘what they need’ necessitates that relatively few must labor to provide for all. Bono’s ill-advised scheme is socialism. The Republican Party has agreed to consign Americans to the same fate as other socialist countries with its recent endorsement of Bono’s global goody bag.
Bono, the mouthpiece for environmentalism, global wealth transfer and socialist policy in general owns several opulent mansions throughout the world and travels by jet. The four engine behemoth he flies (while admonishing you to drive a hybrid) gets about 3 miles per gallon. (So much for the imperiled ozone, the Kyoto treaty and greenhouse gasses.)
What we now see is the GOP unabashedly aligning itself with a man who travels the world advocating taxpayers (especially the porcine capitalists in America) fund every bloated ostensibly humanitarian project the UN can cook up. Ironically, Bono has moved his lucrative music enterprise out of his native Ireland and to the Netherlands to offset a huge tax bill with nary a wimper about this Bono factoid in our liberal press.
With planes, mansions, off shore tax shelters and a world-wide bully pulpit to tell Americans how they should fund millions for tin pot dictators in far flung lands- Bono’s got it all figured out about how much and to whom you must give to charity.
And the Republicans have signed you up for this lunacy. The Republicans- the party of limited government whose control of the White House and/or both houses of Congress for a quarter century has resulted in quadrupled federal spending.
Would that time travel were possible; I’d introduce Davy Crockett to this bonehead Bono. Davy Crockett was a U.S. Congressman from Tennessee- not just some coon-skin capped fictional character. Based on the following story I suspect the fabled frontiersman Davy Crockett would have a few well-chosen- albeit sharp- words for Mr. Bono.
WASHINGTON – Members of Congress continue to express their thanks and appreciation for a volunteer program that delivered 535 copies of the No. 1 faith movie and the No. 1 Christian book in Americain September.
The latest senators to send letters of are Republican Orrin Hatch of Utah and Democrat Daniel Inouye of Hawaii.
They join nearly a dozen other members of Congress who have acknowledged receipt of the gifts of “The Harbinger,” the bestselling Christian book of 2012, and “The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment,” the No. 1 faith movie for the last 28 weeks of 2012.
